Prawn dumplings. The prawn dumplings came in a bowl of soup with some vegetables too. The dumpling skin was not too soft as it does not break easily when I scoop it up. The fillings were quite solid and has a lot of prawns in it. The prawns were succulent and crunchy. It was not too salty, and it also have some minced meat to hold it all together. The soup was just a normal soup. continue reading

Some of my favorite yong tau fu items are the brinjals, ladies finger, bittergourd, and plain beancurd. All of these items proved to be very satisfying. They were all fresh and succulent, big pieces and tasty. I like the brinjals for most. The fish paste filling is generous and delicious. There were some starchy gravy but it doesn’t get much of my attention since the yong tau fu are the main items and they were too good. continue reading

Here we have fried brown tofu, brinjal, chilli and bittergourd stuffed with fish paste, drenched with brown gravy. I like that the brown tofu was nicely cooked till really soft. Bite into it and the gravy splashes in your mouth. The brinjal was fried and too oily. Other places have done better job on this, at least much lesser oil. Others were fresh and the fish paste was decent with QQ bouncy texture. I didn't like the gravy, it taste very much like Japanese Miso when drinked on its own. But when soaked with the brown tofu and eaten together, it was alright. continue reading

There's a few branch of Ipoh road Yong Tau Foo around Klang Valley and Petalign Jaya. I guess Ipoh Road is another place famous for Yong Tau foo besides Ampang so that's why they named it this name.Had my brunch with my bunch at this Ipoh road Yong Tau Foo SS2, PJ. As you can see in the picture, the Asam fish the most awesome dish. The Asam is sour and spicy enough and the fish is fresh too. A very good start of my meal. Their soup is clear and not too much ajinomoto too. The vege Yau Mak is abit too oily. Overall, had a satisfying meal. continue reading
