continue reading

One of my favourite snacks of all times is the takoyaki in Jusco One Utama Shopping Centre. I would usually order the one with the prawn filling, and this time was no difference. It was a good thing that there weren't that many customers, as sometimes the queue can go up to 20 minutes during peak time. The takoyaki consisted of flour mixture poured onto a hot pan with many rounded hollows in it. Chopped cabbage and prawns were added, and the balls were cooked till golden brown. Served with fish flakes, some drizzle of mayonnaise, sweet brown sauce and a pinch of seaweed powder, the ensemble is definitely thumbs up, very tasty. The dish is piping hot, and one must take care while consuming, as it was easily burn the mouth! continue reading

Having a snack has never been so awesome, but Tako tao's takoyaki was quite filling as a snack. Like the octopus, the chicken and cheese balls were nicely charred outside and soft in the inside. The cheese were flowy, covering the chicken bits. The combination brings a slightly salted taste to the balls. And as always, I love the tuna flakes and mayo combination on my takoyaki for a fuller, savoury taste! continue reading

I never fail to patronise this shop when I visit Jusco in One Utama. The queue can be pretty long at times, and you have to be prepared to wait. I usually buy a set of octopus and a set of prawns costing RM4.90 each. Once ordered and paid, I amuse myself by looking at the preparation. The Malay lady would first pour some batter into the special round cooking tray, akin to kaya ball cooking tray. Then she would put in the ingredients, either prawns, octopus, unagi, chicken and ham, etc. Next, she would put a generous amount of chopped cabbage before pouring another layer of batter. Using two fork-like apparatus, she would deftly poke and prod to produce ping-pong ball sized morsels. Once they are shaped nicely, she would transfer it to the next cooking tray to further cook it into golden perfection. They serve it with a bit of special brown sauce, mayannaise and fish flakes. The results is an explosion of flavours, creamy and satisfying! continue reading
