I have probably said this before several times but I will say it again - I really really love Hong Kong food. Whether it is authentic or not is subjective however it doesn't make me like the food any less.Kim Gary's has been a family favourite, especially the one in Sungai Wang plaza since we shop there almost every week at one point. Our go-to place for brunch or lunch will always be Kim Gary's because they offer many different kinds of set lunch that comes with a soup and drink which is super affordable. However I haven't been there in a while and when I got the chance, it was my number one suggestion.A must order whenever I am at Kim Gary's is their shredded pork with mushroom rice, topped with a nicely fried egg. I remember several years ago this dish was super fragrant and the sauce that it comes with was really nice, plus there used to be a nicely generous serving of pork. However things seems to no longer be the same now as it was only mediocre at best and the egg was overly cooked which means no nicely runny yolk to coat the hot rice. Safe to say I was quite disappointed with my used to be favourite dish. My aunt decided to order the teriyaki chicken rice, it also coems with a fried egg and some beans. Although this flavour has never been a favourite of mine, I certainly feel like it tasted better than my dish. However the chicken portion was a little small though enough for my aunt who has a smaller appetite than most people. At least her egg was nicely runny. The best dish that day was the Noodles with Herbal Chicken soup that my mother ordered. This was really good because the soup was really well flavoured plus there were quite a lot of chicken bits. Plus I think I really enjoyed the nissin noodles because it was our regular packaged ramen noodle which I often times eat a lot of despite it being quite unhealthy. After this experience, I probably feel a little disappointed with Kim Gary's standards as it feels as if it had dropped slightly. However I do have hopes that other branches would be bette and other dishes would taste better than my usual.  continue reading

We decided to visit Hong Kong Kim Gary since my colleague is craving for their french toast and besides I also have the member card and this month I can redeem the free meal as well. We reached at 12.40pm and the place is quite empty. Not the usual restaurant where queue started as early as 12noon and we have to take queue numbers. The price has increase but good news is we are having more choices of food for set lunch. We have difficulties in choosing from few stacks of menu and finally I choose rice+egg+shredded pork and vegetables. My friend shared the yin yong drinks with me and the taste is still satisfying. The shredded pork is fried to perfection and i enjoy every spoonful. Tender and crispy boneless pork meat topped with sweet corns and lovely egg. Smaller version on the French Toast and we are all feeling weird. The portion is rather small. But it does taste good, browned and crispy on the outside and soft layer inside. Added Honey, peanut butter fillings and butter make it tasted like heaven on a plateWe get this free meal for the month of August for members - Ichiban toast bread. The taste is below par and too sweet for my likingAfter all, we have a great time together enjoying the meal here with fast service.Hong Kong Kim GaryG083 & 084, Sungei Wang Plaza,Jalan Sultan Ismail, 55100Kuala Lumpur Tel: 603-2144 8113 continue reading

Actually apart from the deep fried pork cutlet which sandwich the halves of a warm bun; I just had this feeling that it's very much like our Ramly Burger.. haa haa.. with the tomato & chilli sauce, tomatoes, and cucumber slices Of course, the pork cutlet definitely makes all the difference. It's deep fried to golden perfection and I can assure you it's satisfaction with every bite continue reading

continue reading
