I rarely come to Alamanda but came here this morning because the Immigration Officer told us to come back at 2 pm a there were too many people there. I went to the Info Counter and saw a brochure promoting the Lunch Sets at Chakri Express for RM 17.90 or RM 22.90 individual sets. The ambience is quite cosy and overlooks the fountain and lake where the view is fantastic. If it weren't for the set lunch, I would not have come here as the ala-carte menu is higher than Elephant Thai. I ordered the RM 22.90 set so that mum and I could share the food. It came with 2 starters which were in bigger portion than I imagined: 2 pieces of Popiah (Fried Spring Rolls) and also 2 samosa which were so crispy. There was a very small bowl of chicken Tom Yam soup, served in the same size of bowl like mushroom soup at Pizza Hut. The soup was just normal and average. I am not a fan of chicken so I have no comments. The soup is not spicy and sour enough for me. There was also a mini som tam (papaya salad) which was so delicious and the spice was just right. The main dish was the fried Dory Fish with a special spicy sauce with white rice. I love thed fish the most as it was crispy and the sauce was thick enough.  continue reading

First time dining at Chakri Express at 9.30 pm after the restaurant that we would actually like to dine in didn't accept customer anymore as it was almost closing time. So, the Chakri Xpress menu looked quite nice and so my husband and I with our grumbling stomach decided to just dine there. Our orders that day were:Tom Yum Glass Noodle - RM22.50This was what my husband ate that night. IMHO, the tom yum tasted different from the others that I've tasted before. It wasn't really 'wow', but it wasn't bad either. It was quite nice actually with the right amount of spiciness. Worth to try if you would like to taste different taste of tom yum. Crispy Wantan Ladna - RM16.50I ate this wantan noodle served with thick Ladna soup. Some people may not like the thickness of the soup but again for me the taste was quite good. And i finished it till the last drop. ;pSoft Shell Crab Fried with Yellow Egg GravyWe've tried quite a number of restaurants with soft shell crab dishes. I love soft shell crab very much but not my husband. However, this particular soft shell crab fried with yellow egg gravy here in Chakri Xpress did a wonder to my husband as he liked it very much. As usual, different people have different taste. The foods were not perfect in taste, but for me they were quite yummy and different from what I've tasted before especially the Tom Yum and the Soft Shell Crab. So, do try. ;) continue reading

Wow, another trip down to Putrajaya in search for food! Here we go, Chakri Express! It sounds like Thai to me, hehe…and the food spread was pretty nice at first glance! And yeah, it’s Thai cuisine that I found out later…keke…From this dinner, I learnt of their authentic dish such as the “pengat pisang”. It’s something like steamed banana where you get the warm version than the normal one we have. They do have steamed sweet potatoes which is a Yum Yum for me! So I prefer the latter than the former one Also not forgetting their ruby dessert which still remain as my fav must-have whenever am in for Thai food. The diamonds of rubies;P, are so pleasant that in this case, I get to tailor-made it myself where I can add as much as I like, so long tummy can take it….On ya, you could even add slices of jackfruit too, it improved the aroma tooThey grilled seafood was nice along side with their fried dishes as well. Saw fried kangkung too……..hehe.So why not try out this Thai outlet one of these days? Just that you gotta drive a little further but you get to enjoy the lush greenery along the journey to Putrajaya continue reading
