One of the branch of Restaurant Yong Tau Foo Chen Chen is located at Menjalala Kepong, same row as the famous Pulau Ketam Steamboat. Obviously, from the restaurant name, it is specialised in Yong Tau Foo (minced pork and fish that stuff into veggie). It offers Full range of “yong” stuff like Brinjal, Bitter Gourd, Lady Finger, Chilli, Fried Foo Fu Chuk, Tau Fu, Dumpling and Bean Curd. Beside Yong Tau Foo, it also offers Fish Head Curry, Assam Kampung Fish, Steam Fish..etc. There are plenty of tables here, so normally no need to wait for any queue. Not much parking near the restaurant, so normally need to park further away especially during weekend. We have ordered 16 pieces mixture of Yong Tau Foo. Fu Chuk are fried while Tau Fu, Lady Finger, Bitter Gourd and Dumpling are in soup. The Yong Tau Foo and lettuce here are just normal for me as I think i can find other place better than this restaurant. Overall, for the price of RM1.20 per piece, i think the price is reasonable if you take the Yong Tau Foo size into consideration. continue reading

continue reading

Vinegar Pork Trotterthis bowl of sour black broth was decent, with generous amount of meat. the ratio between sweetness and sourness was perfect. however, i wish the broth was thicker. it was watery but not diluted. i hope you understand what i am trying to say :/Yong Tau Foothe lead dish! a spread of yong tau foo stuffed with fresh fish paste. we had fried brinjal, fried sui kao (dumpling), and fried bean curd skin, served piping hot and crispy. while tofu, chili, lady finger and bittergourd swimming in clear soup full of sayur manis. each item is priced at RM 1, considered standard price in klang valley area!white tofu was my favourite! berry smooth and silky . and brinjal! crisp on the outside while soft in the inside.on the whole, yong tau foo was pretty good. service was brisk prolly because it’s already past lunchy time. i would definitely come back again if i have a craving for yong tau foo. Ampang’s is quite a distance away and too crowded, nah.http://constance-ant.com/2012/09/restoran-yong-tou-foo-chan-chan-kepong/ continue reading

Assam Sting ray. The dish came in a few big pieces of stingy ray and some brinjals covered in assam sauce as well as some coriander on top. The portion of the stingray was not so generous. The assam sauce was slightly watery and diluted. It was tangy and sour due to the tamarind sauce, but it was lack of spiciness. The stingy ray meat was fresh, soft and succulent. It has absorbed the assam flavour. continue reading
