Where's the beef? Mont Kiara now has a well-hidden steakhouse that opened this month, offering a romantic retreat with a verdant view of this condo-crazy territory. We were temporarily tempted by the menu's selection of sandwiches, tapas & pastas, but eventually elected to stick to steaks for this visit. The sight of this 220-gram rib-eye, glistening in its protein-packed glory, assured us that we were in safe hands. Tenderloin (also 220 grams). Being scatterbrained, we forgot to find out what kind of beef was offered, though the friendly service team mentioned it was U.S.-bred. And being butterfingered, we've already misplaced our receipts, but the steaks here seemed modestly priced. The tenderloin was our favorite cut; every forkful was impeccably prepared, providing all the bleeding juiciness that carnivores could hope to sink their teeth into. Prime rib (400 grams), with mashed potatoes, asparagus & chunky fries. Savory Bistro boasts excellent opening hours: 8am-midnight daily (last orders at 11pm). Our only quibble: we're not fans of the outlet's name, but that truly is a trivial matter. Morande Pionero Merlot, a reasonable house-pouring for about RM15 a glass. Morande Pionero Chardonnay. A little white wine won't hurt.Reservations are recommended, since the restaurant barely fits 60 diners. The alfresco balcony was bustling on a Friday night (these photos were taken after most customers had left), so those might be the tables to target. continue reading

We thought it would be nice to make the dinner complete with a small dessert, and so we chose the Apple Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream off their specials board. Presentation-wise it was quite a sight, but the taste was hardly memorable. The pie was crumbly enough, but we felt it could have been more buttery. One of my pet peeves is serving a dessert with low quality vanilla ice cream and this was one of the things I felt that went wrong with this dessert. It just wasn't the best apple pie we've tried in town. I would give this a miss next time, and perhaps try something else. =) continue reading

We had found another jewel for food this round. The Savory Bistro is one of the place where they served authentic western meal which is located at The Fare at Mont Kiara. The restaurant is well decorated in classy look which they have the life band of jazz along the night every Wednesday. The place is simply romantic which I feel it is one of the good places to choose for your romantic dine for your Valentine Day. They have sitting indoor and outdoor where it can accommodate small and large crowd. They also have complimentary Wi-Fi provided. We are also served with the Savory's Cheese Burger where the cheese burger are being served with 200gm beef petty and cheddar. The beef which is being served are juicy which makes it really indulging to have a taste of it. It is also being served with the steak fries. The texture of the fries is good and it is indeed crispy and big one as well. Not a like the normal French fries.Price: RM 28.00 continue reading

Savory Bistro is this restaurant serving western fare ranging from homemade pancakes, pasta, specialty steaks, tapas, vegetarian-friendly fare and a selection of wines. Located over in Mont Kiara area, the bar-like restaurant was rather hidden, tucked away on the first floor of a condominium block at the end of Jalan Kiara 1. I had the opportunity to sample some of their dishes the other day along with friends, and it wasn't bad at all. Aptly named Savory Bistro, we were served with some rather savory dishes which did tingle our senses. Arriving just in time for dinner, my stomach was ready for all the good food. Even though the location for this restaurant was a bit secluded, I felt it was a hidden gem of sorts, something you find hidden away but really good. Do check out what we had that evening. We kicked off the meal with some wholesome Cream of Pumpkin Soup, which at RM13 was enough to whet the appetite of at least 2 diners. It comes with scallops and goes really well with the garlic croutons. The next dish that arrived was a seafood dish, the Spaghetti Marinara consisting of prawns, seafood and chili. I'm more of a meat person, but Janice who had this dish did mention it was good, especially the sauce. I guess a good Marinara has to have a good sauce to douse the ingredients in. Next up was a meaty dish, one which I appreciate especially when it comes in the form of a 200gm beef patty and cheddar cheese. Served with huge chunks of steak fries, I would say Savory's Cheese Burger can fill up at least 3 stomachs. It was huge, with juicy beef patty to satiate my carnivorous appetite. Of course, my favourite would be the next dish that arrived. Personally, I think I have been having a tad too many steaks in recent weeks, but my stomach will never say no to some good tender rib eyes, or tenderloins cut. The meat for this Fillet Mignon Steak (Tenderloin) was medium done, with every bite I could feel the juices which was a pretty good feeling. Served with Savory Bistro's brown sauce, mashed potatos and assorted vegetables, I truly enjoyed this dish, which at RM50 was rather appropriately priced.Overall the food at Savory Bistro was good, a hidden gem amidst all the other restaurants and cafes in the vicinity of Mont Kiara. With Publika - Solaris Dutamas a stone throws away, do drop by Savory Bistro should you happen to be around Mont Kiara.
