It's always cause for celebration when a fresh-faced outlet takes off at Terrace at Hock Choon; Romanza Le Restaurante marked its maiden flight on Valentine's Day, propelled by fantastic fusion fantasies in which Europe & Asia land on a singular runway of recipes.Romance was in the air as Romanza unveiled its lovely setting to endearing effect, with a band charming customers with renditions of Eric Clapton's "Beautiful Tonight" & Elton John's "Something About The Way You Look Tonight" _ though it was bizarre that they also sang Adele's "Someone Like You." Cold winter melon & coconut soup with ginger sorbet & pine nuts, strange but exhilarating. The foundation of the menu is French Mediterranean, flirting with influences from Japan, Indonesia & more, balanced by South African chef Steven Kruger with high-wire culinary bravura. Tempura of tiger prawns, mango & sesame salsa with Pommes Maxim, pickled red cabbage, curly lettuce & rose caviar in a vanilla-&-black pepper vinaigrette. Painstakingly put together, but perhaps overly fussy, with so many components competing for attention. Slurp & swallow: freshly shucked oyster with plum chutney, fish roe & apple kiwi salsa.

I won some voucher from some blog contest! Hurray!I get to celebrate with my mom at such 'high end' places without forking out my own pocket money! hehe!I was totally amazed by the food they serve here. It was really beyond average and divine. I had duck instead of anything else. It was so flavorful and luscious. I enjoy every single mouthful of it. Mom loves it too!The appetizer was superb too! Presented on an elegant glass plate and nicely arrange . In terms of taste, it's a lil bit too complext for me to describe. all i know is I truly enjoy the meal!Lamb shank. Mom opted for this. Very huge portion , mom and I doesn't want to waste, so we took our time, savor until the last piece of meat. The mash potato and mashed pea was FANTASTIC! Never encounter such unique green color mashed pea... Something new for me.Will definitely come back once I save enough pocket money. But I'll be bringing my friends instead of mom! HAHAHA

Along the drive to the heart of KL, I realise this restaurant is situated within the embassies enclave. Tucked in the Terrace of Hock Choon with other restaurants and bars housed under one roof along the busy street of food hub, Romanza serves a fusion of French Mediterranean cuisine with a hint of South African flair. The minute I step into the restaurant, feeling of classic and elegance greets me almost instantly, giving out a romantic feeling to it. It’s like going into a fairytale for a candlelight dinner for two.I enjoy this Blackcurrant Marinated Duck Breast the most! Suitably seduced, I am rewarded with a wonderfully rich, savoury, complex myriad of flavours. The duck is perfectly cooked with just the right amount of tenderness and juiciness, and it complements the deeper flavours of fruity currant juice. It is sweet and salty, with slightly sourish juice to lift up the dish! Thumbs Up!
