So it wasn't really a surprise that the place was quite filled with people considering that we went on the weekend. There were several families and also many other tables occupied but we got a nice quiet corner by the window. I gotta say that the staff are very friendly and accomodating because they led us to the quiet corner which I had requested for. They were also very attentive whenever we requested for some green tea or anything else. Service is a definite plus.

As for the choices of food however, there is the selection of salads and then there were also the standard Japanese fare such as assorted sushi that were continuously made to fill up any empty platters.

There was also a large corner for the seafood where it is pretty much available at most buffets. The seafood looked fresh and the two chefs behind the bar were working constantly to slice up the sashimi to make sure that the serving platters were always filled. Everything was very good that I had several helpings of them all.

All of the oysters were rather large in size, so were the prawns which I ate many rounds of.

The dessert corner was my friend's favourite because there were many kinds - assorted cakes and pastries gallore. Since I prefer the savoury food, I did not really indulge in any dessert. However, apparently they were all only so-so according to my sweet expert friend.

Although I really enjoyed the buffet spread, this isn't a place that we'd return to if it were not for a sepcial occasion because of the rather steep price tag. Though I guess it is kind of worth it if you're a big eater and indulge in most of the seafood.

Zipangu is famous for its Japenese buffet, served quality seafood and sahimi. The succulent juicy oyster are fresh and you will be walloping one by one into the mouth if you are an oyster lover. Much of variety and love the fresh prawn too. Sashimi is sweet and nice, love its Salmon. You cant find a lot if fancy sushi roll, but you will get lots and lots of mouthwatering desserts. Give this a YES!

Definitely one of KL's most alluring Japanese restaurants. The sashimi seemed super-fresh, though the selection was run-of-the-mill. Marinated crab organs with shredded crab meat. Can't go wrong with most of the seafood here; the crab tasted like it might have been in the ocean only hours before this. Pot-au-feu with pan-fried foie gras, eel & winter melon. A perennial favorite; too bad the portion seems much punier than what it used to be several years ago. Braised beef. Not as tender as it co

Braised beef. Not as tender as it could have been, but recommended for anybody who enjoys chunky slabs of beef with some bite in them.

Definitely one of KL's most alluring Japanese restaurants. Conger eel fritters with cheese salad. A letdown; the fritters contained more batter than eel, while the cheese was served as cold, stiff slices. Steamed clams in sake. Meaty and well-prepared, but basically forgettable. Grilled barracuda. Not too fishy-tasting, but not outstanding either. Soy bean soup with crab in stone pot. Avocado vegetable roll. Thanks to hearty helpings of creamy avocado, this was the most satisfying maki possible without any sashimi or soft-shell crab in it.

One of the items in the lunch buffet is the Mango Pudding. The pudding is really smooth and so rich with mango taste. It was served in a wine glass and decorated with chocolate ganache which is crispy. There was a milky texture and the sweetness is really natural from the fruit. Since it is also light, I could finish 2 glasses without feeling heavy, this is one of the best pudding I tasted. Highly recommended.

While the mango and lychee versions is my favourite as the mango was sweet and fresh and juice from the fruit flows and mixes with the rice which sticks together which has nice texture. Lychee was crispy and mixed with the sushi brings dining experience to a new level.

All of us had couple of rounds of the soft shell crab hand-rolled or known as California roll. The California roll has other ingredients such as fish roes, crab stick and veg. The fresh seaweed used to wrap with the ingredients that made the California roll smell so great and appetizing. First bite on it that made our heart melted and our eyes rolling. Slurp!

Had a few rounds for the chawanmushi, sashimi and sukiyaki, there are not in the picture as we were busy eating. All were good except that of limited seafood for us to enjoy. Managed to take this beautiful, presentable and delicious dessert which was Mango pudding. The portion was small hence, I had a few rounds of it as well. To me, the pudding it was like more of blended mango flesh instead as I felt it was so much of the mango flesh.

Me and my friends had our lunch buffet at Zipangu one fine day and I still remember that was just after the natural disaster in Japan. In fact, it was my first visit. I personally find the buffet was of limited variety. I fell in love with the desserts, looks colourful, tempting and presentable.

First picture, grass jelly topping with chocolate sticks and chocolate pudding, had a few of it. Love the taste and the grass jelly.

Second picture is showing Fruits sushi. Something different and innovative but I prefer the original sushi. Fruits taste funny, sweet along with vinegar rice. Not acceptable!

The buffet lunch at Zipangu is highly recommended. The variety of food was good and quality of food fresh.I am reviewing the desserts which is always my favourite. And Zipangu does it especially well. The desserts not only looks great but taste great too. The cost is above average but there was a promotion of 50% discount and we took the opportunity to try it out. We did not regret it.
