I don't know why but I was strongly craving for some good comfort food.  My immediate order was the mutton curry with a side of toast. I am pretty sure the last time we dined there they offered some naan or pita bread, but this time they said that there isn't such thing. Weird but that didn't stop me from dipping my hot toast into the super thick & flavourful curry, then happily eat the tender and succulent mutton pieces. Its so so sooooo good especially on a cool night.

 As always we have to order a serving of the grilled chicken leg. I've already raved about this in my previous review so I'm not going to talk too much about it. But this is absolutely positively delicious. Enough said.

 That night we got something new to try which is the grilled lemon sole and it was pretty amazing. The fish was nicely grilled with good seasoning and the side vegetables was AMAZING! Cause they were stir-fried with lots of garlic and butter so it was super flavourful.

It's jsut awesome how the food at Sam's never disappoint. Plus the price is not too exurbent which means you won't have to worry about overspending and still receive good sized portions.

Have I mentioned how much I enjoy eating at Sam's? Especially when I am in the mood for something casual yet want pretty good food - which is why my mom brought me there for dinner one night. Our usual order is western and would most definitely get the really good grilled chicken, but that night we were quite into the local food. Plus apparently she's tried them and found that to be exceptionally worth trying which was what we got.

 My favourite of the night happens to be the mutton curry which was specially ordered for me. It came in a claypot filled to the brim with super thick and spicy curry, then in it was plenty pieces of meat and also chunks of potatoes. This comes with your choice of either rice or naan, which I obviously would choose the later. Nothing like some soft & fluffy naan to soak up all the delicious curry.

 Because it's my mother's favourite, she also ordered a sambal prawn and I could undersyand why. The prawns were super fresh and they were not stingy at all with the amount we were given. Plus the sambal really made me tear because it was hella spicy but in a good way, so eating this with some rice is ideal.

Now I'm already thinking of the food and can't wait to be back for more.

Aside from their salad and carbonara, another thing that came highly recommended was their grilled chicken thigh. Now I should mention that I have never really been a fan of chicken, not unless it is deep fried to golden perfection. So I was a little apprehensive about having to order two portions of this that comes with a side of salad and wedges.

 Though to my surprise, it smelled and looked really good when the plates arrived. Placed in front of me were two plates of generously portioned chicken thighs that looked grilled to perfection. Although slightly dark in colour, I presumed it to be from the marinate of spices that the chefs had slathered the meat in.

 The taste was absolutely amazing and you would think that the marinate would be too overpowering judging by the colour, but it wasn't. Also the chicken was still nice and juicy on the inside while the exterior was perfectly crisp from the grill.

Although the portion of sides were rather small, I really liked the wedges which were crispy on the outside but perfectly fluffy inside. I wish they gave more of that so I could mop up the juices that leaked out of the chicken.

Definitely recommend this dish!

A favourite hang-out spot of my mother's friends, she decided to bring me there for dinner one night saying that they serve very good food despite being known for their alcoholic beverages. I for one am not a fan of drinking especially on a weeknight, I went there starving for some good food.The crowd was minimal considering that it was a work night so not many want to welcome the next work day with a hangover. The crowd was minimal considering that it was a work night so not many want to welcome the next work day with a hangover. We got a table fairly quick and our waiter was nice and friendly.

Based on my mom's recommendation, we ordered a salad for starters and a pasta. Both are to share because the portions are rather large.

 So for starters we got ourself a Caesar salad which was good. Again, there have been better but this is not the worst because they do give a nice amount of bacon strips which has been lightly fried. They were not stingy on the croutons either so if you were to order this as your meal instead, then you wouldn't go home hungry.

Let's start with the portion size, I'm pretty sure this is not one person's portion unless you have an appetite of a bear. Though I have to commend them for not charging overly expensive and giving you peanuts in terms of portion. So I was glad that mom & I decided to share rather than each of us ordering one entree which we most definitely cannot finish.

The taste is good but I personally found it overly creamy. I'm guessing that they just put loads of heavy cream rather than the traditional way of making carbonara which requires only a little bit. After a few forkfuls of this, I really could no longer stomach anymore because the heavy amount of cream was too cloying.

At the end of the day, our bill came up to almost Rm50 including all the tax & GST. Which I feel given the portions, good service and also rather cosy enviroment is pretty worth it. Will definitely be back to sample more of their menu.
