I'm not really sure what this is because my brain could only think about ramen at the time. But it's some sort of spring roll with ebikko and some special sauce. Although I am not too sure what it was exactly but I do know that it was a really nice bite cause the vegetables were crisp & fresh.

As always I would get the salad with sesame dressing that comes with the lunch set. It's as good as it usually is only sometimes the dressing is a little scarce. But easily overlooked since I was mainly just looking forward to my bowl of ramen.

Then my bowl of Karakka-Men with Cha Siew was brought to my table, that was when I was sent to seventh heaven. The smell of the pork bone broth was so delicious and mixed with the spicy miso paste plus spring onions, it was just enough to make my mouth water. The soup never fails to amaze me as the flavours are just so strong but yet makes you want more and more.

The noodles always has a nice bite to it, especially since I asked for it to be a 'hard' texture. So by the time it's been soaked in the broth then it'll be nicely textured cause I am not a fan of overcooked and soft noodles.

Although most people have told me that Ippudo is overrated, it still remains my personal favourite place to go to for some good ramen. Plus with the option of a set lunch, it is more afforable now.

So, technically, this is char siew pau. It's super tender slice of Japanese char siew (or "chasu"), in between soft fluffy plain white bun. The meat is super fatty and melty and soft, and the bun is very fluffy. The sweet sauce gives it an indulgent taste.

My 2nd visit to this restaurant for ramen. As i have a very good experience in my 1st visit, i was expecting to have a delicious ramen for my dinner today.I ordered a Spicy Karaka-men. Based on the menu, this ramen features Ippudo signature Tonkotsu broth and Hakata-style wavy noodles (ultra think noodles) and topped with ground pork and their spicy karaka miso.As i have no problem with spicy food, so to me the spiciness was ok.Overall, the taste was good.

Hakata Ippudo Ramen is located at Pavillion KL. It is a restaurant that offers different types of Ramen and other dishes. The environment there is classy. It is suitable for family gathering or event. Oolong Hai served by Hakata Ippudo Ramen. the taste of Oolong Hai is delicious. However, the portion is too small and only suitable as a side dish.

The pork slices is well cooked and the taste is really amazing, fantastic and amazing. Although the price is expensive, but I personally think it is worth the money for the quality of food you get and the nice environment.

I have ordered one of their signature noodle, Shiromaru Motoaji(IPPUDO’s original tonkotsu broth served with ultra-thin noodles, pork belly, bean sprouts, kikurage & spring onions. Classic Hakata-style ramen). So far this is the best ramen I ever tasted in Malaysia. The ramen is stringy and fresh, the soup is very very delicious. Do remember to put in some pepper and sesame through the crusher. They also prepare a tool for you to squeeze the fresh garlic into the ramen.

i've been waiting far too long, ippudo
omg it's finally happening! hehe.

located in pavilion, it is actually NOT in tokyo street. instead, it is situated next to nike and chatime on pavilion's restaurant row aka 'connection' section. since my introduction to pork broth ramen noodle, which is ippudo's signature ramen, it's my number one ramen to go to these days over shoyu and plain miso. (so yeah, this restaurant is definitely NOT pork free)

the decor was a modern take with an asian twist with main hues of wood, red, black and white. the bowls and spoons are used as decor pieces, which i thought was rather cool. there is also the option of sitting at the counter where you can watch the chefs hard at work. one thing i was not too keen of was there were a few communal tables that i think should not be adopted by restaurants anymore because of the awkwardness of dining with strangers.

from my research about ippudo, the one to try was akamaru and if i were gonna do it, i was gonna do it right. surely, the special was what i would go for so i could try different aspects of the chef's mastery.

tonkotsu broth means pork based broth. let's start with it since we are on the subject - it was rather flavorful, packed with pork sweetness mingled with miso paste with a hint of garlic and whispers of heat. the broth was rich, smooth and a fullness in a deliciously balanced way but i have to agree with {mw} that it was borderline salty. a lil greasy yes, but expected and comparatively less greasy than the other tonkotsu ramens i've tried.

when u place your order, the server would ask how firm you'd like the noodles to be ranging from soft, firm or hard, where i went for firm. noodles are what makes a bowl of ramen. i could taste the freshly made noodles and it was cooked well.

when i saw pork belly on the menu, i just had to try it out cos i've been missing pork belly for a while now. however, i was a tad disappointed because despite the fat on the pork belly, the meat didn't fall apart like how i would imagined it. in fact, it was almost a little dry - which i found surprising. i wished it could have been seasoned a little more.

the final thing that would complete the ramen ensemble is the seasoned egg. this seasoned egg while cooked very well, it lacked the marination in shoyu like a few other seasoned eggs that i've had before.

overall, the bowl of akamaru ramen noodle was not mind blowing but it was yummy that i'd like to return for a second time - perhaps to try something else to see how it compares. although the serving was big that i was stuffed at the end of the meal, i have to admit that the price of the noodles is steep so i might have to think twice before going back. regardless, give it a try if you are in town and are in the mood for some hakata tonkotsu ramen
