With a moniker probably inspired by "Cinema Paradiso" (one of my all-time favorite films), Paradiso is KL's first "cinema lounge" where movie buffs sip cocktails named after popular flicks. Food might not be the star of the show here, but these chicken wings glazed in peanut butter (!!!) are a novelty worth sampling. The coating is evocative of peanut satay gravy, thick & savory. Duduk serves no booze, but Paradiso Lounge, a 90-second walk away, saves the day. Basic Instinct (absolut vanilla, creme de cacao, nutmeg cream). For the teetotaler: a fizzy cold juice with real mangosteen & lychee. Fruity & refreshing.I wasn't expecting real mangosteen in that juice! A pleasant surprise and it feels like paradiso is serving the most inventive & best-prepared cocktails at Solaris dutamas (for now!) =)

For real liquor, it's only a 30-second escalator ride from Fatboy's to Paradiso Cine Lounge. A couple of Paradiso's cocktails are named after Hugh Grant movies: Four Weddings & A Funeral comprises JW Black, lime, lemon, palm sugar & vanilla with cinnamon foam. Bitter Moon, a more obscure 1992 Hugh Grant movie. This one has absinthe, Greek yogurt, Bombay Sapphire, cucumber & mint leaves _ a creative combo that illustrates how the bar here takes its concoctions very seriously.
