waffle lover don't miss to pay here a visit. if cholesterol isn't a big deal to our body, I wish I can have waffle + coffee every day. B.B.C. waffle (RM17) is decent, and major credit goes to the two scoops of cornflakes ice cream by Fatbaby. Pulled Pork& Waffles (RM17) on the other hand is a savory dish and served with yeast-risen waffle. Cold Brew on the rocks (RM9) only available on weekends. I prefer milk coffee, and sweet tooth came on that day, so i had myself a cup of Mocha (RM11). coffee is creamy smooth, but i find that the coffee flavor is not so intense. continue reading

Been here a few times and this round, tried their Qwik Fix and it was real good. The sourness of lemon balanced up the bitterness of the coffee, a slight after-sweet beneath your tongue after slipping through your throat. Overall was good try. One note, try finish this drink before the ice starts to melt, for it will dilute the taste.Hot chocolate was rich, with the beautiful chocolate art with fine lines, i guess it worth the price.Since I'm not a peanut butter lover, I try not to jeopardise the cake. Homemade peanut butter was slightly more butter than peanut, on the plus side, it has a greasy and moisture texture, not too dry. But, it's peanut butter cake, means you probably can expect "jelak" after a few bites. continue reading

After our dinner at home, we went Standing Theoryfor dessert and coffee. I made a reservation for 4 people at 9.30pm so that Ican get 20% discount from offpeak. Standing Theory is located at SS2, PetalingJaya. The cafe was crowded when we arrived maybe because it’s Friday and peopledon't mind staying up late. The cafe serves a unique coffee that you guys won'tregret checking out. The ambiance was good with cosy environment. You have toorder and pay at the counter and they will serve the food to your table. Iordered 4oz coffee, BBC Waffle and Quick Mix.Caffe Latte has an amazing coffee art and tasted as good as it looks. Caffe Latte 4 oz @ RM 9.43 Qwik Fix (Espresso Mocktail) is a creative coffee Mocktail created by the Barista to highlight elements of Acidity+ Sweetness + Aftertaste (Lemon Peel+ Simple Syrup + Espresso and Blackcurrant Juice). It is a drink that is good for anytime of the day. It has a great coffee taste with a good hint of lemon flavour. Unique!! Qwik Fix @ RM 11.32BBC Waffle is served with Bacon, Banana Slice and Ice-Cream. Bacon was grilled perfectly and it goes well with the waffle. Everything worked great to give an additional taste to the Waffle. BBC Waffle @ RM 16.04It was a good dessert time for us.Friendly service and do drop by to try their delicious and unique coffee.ServiceCharge: Nil GST: 6%StandingTheory 26, Jalan SS2/103, 47300 PetalingJaya continue reading

My friend and I had chosen to have brunch at Standing Theory by coincidence as the other cafe which we had chosen was closed. She had discovered this place from a rather well-known food blog and thought it would be a good choice. From what we could tell, there were good reviews of this place and since we had time to burn, we thought why not.We arrived rather early in the day - about 11am so the cafe was relatively empty save for one or two tables. The cafe is rather small and had floor to ceiling windows at the front so it lights up the interior which had dark oak wood coloured decorations. Quite a nice touch to the design. Also, the staff were quite attentive, leading us to a table almost instantly and gave us the menu to look over. Though they did not let us know that orders are to be placed at the counter until we flagged down one of the staff. The menu is not very large but there is two, one for breakfast and another for later in the day. They all sounded pretty good but we were there for one thing only, which was the B.B.C Waffles which is a really indulgent sounding brunch meal. Plus for the price of Rm 13; that was quite promising. There was two of us and we opted to share the waffle because we would be attending a workshop after which provides us food so we did not want to be overly full. It was a good decision because with our average female appetite, the dish was enough to satisfy our hungry bellies. When our dish arrived about fifteen minutes later, it smelled and looked amazing. The savoury Bacon mixed with the honey soaked waffle tastes better than I imagined. Then the hot and crispy waffle intermingling with the cold corn flakes ice cream makes the entire dish so much more interesting. We also ordered the Iced Mocha priced at Rm12 and personally; I felt was slightly expensive. But I was comparing it to our dish which had two nicely sized waffles, two slices of bacon and two scoops of ice cream which only costs us Rm13. So I was a little baffled that the drink would be almost the same price as my breakfast. Though I gotta say that the coffee taste was very strong which I appreciated very much. It was milky like a mocha should be and one thing that made me happy was that the coffee was not suuuper sweet like some places usually make it to be. Although it is quite a steep price to pay for a glass of iced Mocha, the taste did make it worth it.I would definitely go back to Standing Theory for more of their food that is for sure. :3 continue reading

this plate of awesomeness deserved its own entry. it's been around since nov 2o13 but it was only about 8 months later that i stumbled upon this brunch delight on my instagram feed.it was an immediate reaction. waffles always catch my attention effortlessly and the rest was history. i knew i had to a piece of it and quickly. thus, off i went to standing theory in ss2 that very weekend.all for this must-have dish: THE b.b.c. waffle.we reached the cafe that was situated within a commercial row in the midst of the housing area and finding a parking space was a little challenging since parking was so limited and the road was narrow.the decor took on an affinity towards industrial minimalist with a splash of red punctuating the grey walls. similarly, the collection of mismatched tables, stools and chairs seemed to echo the theme with some injection of colors and finally finished with exposed bulb lamp to complete the story. i kinda adore the blackboard art on the menu behind the counter as well as the signs for the restrooms - a personal touchthe petite menu for brunch/ lunch (11 am - 4:3opm) was limited and all four items were unrelated and from different regions.my first impression, this cafe has the case of identity crisis. however, on the flip side, it offers enough variation and perhaps they only serve food that they are proud to have their reputation pegged onto - as they have admitted on their facebook page.i think it took me longer to decide on the drink since the food was decided even before i got here. lol. btw, orders and payment are at the counter, cash only [#protip] but the food & drinks will be served at your table. glasses of plain water - self service at the counter, please.drinks all day -- tea/chocolate :: earl grey | (rm 7)standing theory serves ronnefeldt tea which is founded in frankfurt by its namesake and it has been served in premium hotels and gourmet restaurants all around the world. {owy} seemed to enjoy the brew.drinks all day -- white :: cappuccino | (rm 1o)their coffee menu offers flat white and cappuccino but no latte. however, the layer of coffee foam suggested this cup was more akin to a latte instead of cappucino. a lovely presentation with the coffee art and tiny cookie on the side. a decent cuppa joe but not as smooth and had a borderline over-brewed bitterness end note on the tongue.lunch :: b.b.c. waffles | waffles, smoked bacon, banana, fat baby cornflake ice cream + gula melaka syrup (rm 16)this was the classic case of savory + sweet combination, which is probably one of my favorite-est flavor profile.b.b.c.= bacon. banana, cornflakes ice cream.say whattttttt?what intrigued me more than the combination of the ice cream, waffles and bacon was the cornflakes ice cream. and the fact that it bore the name fat baby ice cream.fat baby ice cream lovingly describes their cornflakes flavor as ::"we’ve all done it, soaked our cornflakes in the milk to get that slightly smoky milk flavour – that flavor is, what we believe, the best bit of eating cereal in the morning. This ice cream captures that and we’ve even added clusters of cornflakes caramelised with honey to boot. Truly a breakfast of champions in our books!"how i see it, this dish could do no wrong. it has already won half the battle even before i tasted it with its main elements√ bacon {my motto: everything is better with bacon.}√ waffle {well, it is my current obsession.}√ ice cream {and a breakfast for champions one at that. 'fat baby' says so.}√ banana { add something healthy to make us feel better}first bite : yummmmm.. i smiled. *pause*such satisfaction.the flavors of warm, smoky and savory, crispy bacon contrasted harmoniously with the cold creamy, slightly sweetened milk flavored ice cream with a the soft banana forked with waffle that absorbed some of the rounded sweetness of the palm sugar syrup. what made the dish special was fat baby's cornflakes ice cream which was as promised and i was pleasantly surprised with the occasional cornflakes that remained crunchy. it was reminiscent of frosted flakes in very cold milk.i loved the bbc waffle despite the waffles itself was overcooked where its texture was crispy all the way through with burnt edges where i was hoping more of an airy inside encased by crispy shell. (fix this pleaseeeee!) it also made me wonder if the dish could be elevated with the banana caramelized.i have to admit that i am very biased towards savory + sweet combinations especially when it involves bacon and waffles. the b.b.c. waffle at the standing theory has clinched a spot on my favorite brunch food list and i can't wait to go back to have seconds. so i guess it doesn't matter if their menu only limited to four dishes for lunch cos i will always go back for the chosen one.disclaimer this is written based on personal experience and opinion. experiences and taste buds may vary for others.more photos and full entry can be found at :: http://sians.blogspot.com/2014/07/bbc-waffles-standing-theory.html continue reading
