Conveniently located next to Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and within walking distance of the iconic Petronas Twin Towers, Suria KLCC, KLCC Park, Grand Hyatt Hotel gained much of attention due to the sky-crapping restaurant THIRTY8. The restaurant itself was quite beautiful – the open concept kitchens gives the best 360-degree view of KL city!Thirty8 Signature Chocolate Cake. The presentation was quite impressive! Opened with a flourish, pouring over the caramel over the chocolate cake, melting the cake slowly until making a hole on top. It looked so tempting with the fog from the dry ice! Totally instgram worthy! The choco cake was rich, melted perfectly in the mouth with subtle sweetness! Sometimes we just have to forget about the calories girls!Fancy some dessert? Straight from the oven chocolate cake, raspberry sherbet and vanilla anglaise sauce. Very rich and decadent. Definitely a delight for your taste buds! It's a tad pricey to dine here, so be prepared. continue reading

Planning to celebrate special occasion or birthday, Thirty 8Grand Hyatt would be a perfect place with magnificent 360-degree Kuala LumpurView and you can enjoy your meal by looking at PETRONAS Twin Tower. It is justperfect. Celebrated my sister 21st birthday at Thirty 8 Grand Hyatt.Thirty 8 Grand Hyatt is located at Level 38 and you have to walk 1 floor lowerfor the restaurant (There will be a staircase on your right leading to therestaurant). We are welcomed by thestaff upon entering the restaurant and after registered ourselves with name andphone number we were seated on the table that is facing the PETRONAS TwinTower. We went there for an afternoon Tea therefore we just ordered Thirty 8Signature Dessert and Acqua Panna, as it is too early for a drink. Acqua Panna 750ml @ RM 22.30After patiently waited for 20 minutes our dessert arrived. It was carried by the young guy and placed in front of us with a smoky effect from the dry ice. He poured the Butterscotch over the cake. Fantastic! The sweetness from the chocolate contrasting with the sourish from the raspberries gives a unique taste. Loved It.Thirty 8 Signature Cake @ RM 38.59 It was a perfect Birthday celebration for us. The place was gorgeous, the service was top notch, and it will be always best memories for us. I loved everything about the restaurant from the service, ambiance, food and hospitality. Price in the menu is inclusive of service charge and GST. So many positive reviews on Thirty8, Grand Hyatt that I've decided to make it as my next afternoon tea venue. However, this may not turn out to be the next positive one. Upon arrival, we were stunned by its magnificence view of KL Petronas Twin Towers and wished we could have the seat closer to it. Needless to say that sunlight contributes to better photographs. Yet, we have received no reply in corresponding to that request. Hence a piece of advice to specify the seat during reservation.Thirty8's Signature Cake RM25Made its entrance in glass dome along with dry ice as if mystery yet to be discovered in the swirling mist. Butterscotch was then dripped to the top of what believed to be joconde cake. A feast for the eyes before it is being placed on the tongue. Now, verdict on my tongue was not as good as my eyes or even my photos would suggest; especially the banana ice-cream which it tasted like having too much of artificial flavoring. Thirty8's Signature Cake is a must try, they said. Thirty8's Afternoon Tea Set SweetPlain and raisin scones with strawberry preserve and chantilly creamOpera sliceHazelnut eclairStrawberry mousse slice"Flowerpots"Almond friandsSelection of macarons (misspelled as macaroons in the menu instead)Hazelnut biscottiSavoryFinger sandwiches:Cucumber, dill, cream cheeseSmoked salmon, chives, lemon butterEgg mayonnaise, watercressChicken, horseradishSelection of teas and coffeeThe rate was RM68 per person but second person may opt for sharing by ordering own teas/coffee.Different types of bread given for finger sandwiches; Mediocre in term of taste but appreciate the fact that they didn't come in soggy condition. The scone was fluffy and not too dry.Too many photos on other reviews showed their scones wrapped in napkin to keep warm but ours were not served in that way. It was the inconsistency in service that have got me so frustrated. The name "strawberry preserve" might sounds better in menu but strawberries were nowhere to be seen. In fact, we have got 2 fruit jams of orange and strawberry along with chantilly cream.Again, they were not even jams of higher range.I have nothing to shout about on opera slice and hazelnut eclair yet this strawberry mousse slice gave me the feeling of leftover from previous buffet session. The taste was artificial enough to be blend into lower range of confectionery shop. This has seriously brought down the standard of Thirty8's afternoon tea where we couldn't bring ourselves to finish that small piece though we have the virtue of not wasting food in any possible way. Just couldn't. With that amount of butterscotch oozing out, I'll leave to your imagination on how sweet it was. Double that sweetness as we had it in Signature Cake and "Flowerpots".They have challenged on my tolerance towards sugar level and as if that wasn't enough, try lemon macaron that has been overpowered by sweetness. Though desserts are meant to be sweet, but it is the art of controlling the amount of sugar and other elements that would make a masterpiece. Along with Agnes, we had high expectations but imagine the frustration when it didn't even come close. Thank you Agnes for this treat as celebration for my belated birthday but I guess we have picked the wrong afternoon tea venue. Agnes has escalate our concerns to the management and they will look further into the matter. continue reading

Egg benedict for breakfast, with fried mushroom and cherry tomatoes. Not to forget a nice scenery view from 38th floor of the building. How nice if you are staying once in a while in a higher class for any meals and ponder meaning of life.It does it way to give me the best refresh feeling and a better start of day! However, egg benedict was a disappointment. Couldn't blame the skill but the cold environment made the eggs dried and 'gross'. It was tasteless because I did not put any sauce. That was the first time I have had myself an egg benedict outside of house. I was afraid to try any one of the egg benedict now. continue reading
