Came by Sate Kajang Haji Samuri recently for their awesome sate. It may be a little pricier and it is even a little commercialized compared to the many other sate stalls around. The sate here is mass grilled. I counted that they have at least 8 staffs grilling over 100 sticks of sate at the same time! Given the huge amount of crowd, I am not surprised at all.Upon entering the shop, I would need to make the order and then make payment at the counter immediately. After the short queue at the cashier, I would then need to wait for the sate to be prepared. The staffs would collect the sate from the grillers, arrange them nicely on a plate (according to how many I ordered), and give them all to me with the tray.I ordered 20 sticks of chicken satay and 2 plates of cucumber/rice and they only took around 5-10 minutes to prepare everything. Given the huge crowd, it is indeed very impressive. The sate here is quite thick with meat. Some of them are a little burnt on the skin, but still acceptable. I like the fact that they have a little fat on the satay, which makes the meat very juicy, tender and smooth. They provide sambal to be mixed into their peanut sauce. Their peanut sauce, added with some sambal is the perfect combination with their satay. The peanut sauce is very thick, flavourful and savoury. They also serve coconut here which is quite young and sweet. The sate costs RM0.70 each stick, each plate of rice/cucumber costs RM1.50 and a coconut costs RM3.50. Total bill: RM21.75 (Inclusive of government tax) continue reading

continue reading

My first time visit to this place, i wanted to keep my expectations low. As i know this is a famous satay place from Kajang, and my experience taught me always not to expect too much. Well, the place offers various type of satay. Some are more exotic such as the rabbit meat satay. Honestly, i think of rabbit as a pet, not as a satay. i stuck to my comfort zone, ordering the chicken satay and the ketupat. I love the ketupat, it was nice, firm, and a hint of the aroma from the leaf. The chicken satay was normal and the satay sauce was not too bad, but nothing fantastic. continue reading

Used to travel all the way to Kajang just to satisfy my cravings for satay. However, since the opening of their branch in Uptown, I have been a frequent visitor. However, the only satay here that I feel is nice is the beef tripe satay. Chewy, juicy and tender, the beef tripe satay is truly recommended, especially dipped in their satay sauce. They serve the peanut sauce and the spicy chilli separately, so that you can adjust to the level of spiciness of your choice. The chicken satay however, was below expectation. They were too dry, and doesn't have the skin of the chicken between the meat. continue reading
