As I entered Food Republic, a fragrance attracted me to the Teppanyaki shop immediately. I ordered the chicken chop set which cost RM 15, exclusive GST. The set includes rice, beans sprouts, vegetable and soup. To my surprise, the set do not come with any drinks. The chef started cooking the beans sprout, then vegetable and lastly the chicken. As the chef cook, I almost drooled, as it really does smell incredible! The meal was really delicious, especially the gravy. I could literally eat my rice with the gravy only; it was that good. The soup served was ABC soup, it tasted fine but they did not provide any of the ingredients (i.e. carrot or potato), they just serve the soup only. However, I believe the chef has put a little too much ajinamoto while cooking the chicken as I got very thirsty after the meal.By the way, do have a chat with the chef, he is a really friendly person! Tips: it's not necessary to sit near the place where the chef cooks. It's possible to request for a takeaway and it somewhere else in the food court. continue reading

continue reading

I was lured to the counter when I saw the half roasted chicken being advertised at the entrance of Food Republic. It was on promotion at a deal price. The chicken was a bit dry, which is where the gravy comes in. But even so, I manage to dip all of the gravy at the end of the dish. They even throw in a piece of sausage which tasted alright. The mash potato was soft and goes well with the gravy too. The coleslaw was not too creamy but works well with the rest of the dish. continue reading

Food Republic is opened in One Utama on 23 July 2011 and is located at the second floor of the New Wing of One Utama. The restaurant is very spacious with plenty of table that can be seated up to 550 pax at the full capacity. There are more than 10 stalls with and interesting mix of cuisine ranging from Malay, Chinese, Japanese, Western, Taiwanese and Malaysians. I have ordered Chicken Pepper Lunch at Pepper Lunch Express where the concept is Cook It Yourself. You will need to mix, add pepper sauce, savor the aroma and dig in. The also serve fish as well. But must be very careful with the hot sizzling pan as it is really hot. Overall, I think the food is worth the money and satisfy with the environment. If you have a 1 U card, you can collect 1 U point there. continue reading
