Spasso Milano is one of the many higher-end restaurant located on Level 6 Pavilion. We were just passing by and thought to give it a try as we both love Italian food. I think I was probably an Italian cook in my past life! Keeping it simple, we ordered one pizza (for him) and one pasta dish (for me). The margherita pizza looked pretty good with a solid crust. I hate pizzas that are so thin you can't tear the slices out properly. This was a very simple and straightforward pizza with tomato, mozzarella cheese and some basil. Flavours were good. I opted for Spaghetti Bolognese and it looked pretty good. However I felt the bolognese sauce was lacking the depth of flavour. It was pretty one dimensional. The pasta was also slightly overcooked. Very disappointing. It's very unlikely we will return there again. continue reading

For RM36 for this serving, the pasta is hand made and it has seafood with hearty tomato paste. Fresh mussels, clams and squids. Spaghetti is well cooked and the tomato paste is blended well, tasty and the herbs give the zest to the dish. Environment is nice, with European style setting; grey and white concept, and a great place to fine dine. This is an Italian restaurant thus serves various pizzas and pastas. continue reading

Spasso Milano has moved from Ampang to Pavilion, looking to lure a larger crowd hankering for Italian fare on the mall's sixth floor. The biggest surprise: the restaurant now serves pork! Nevertheless, its famed afternoon antipasti buffets should remain available, though we're not certain whether prices will be hiked. Fileja, a doughy Calabrian delight _ handmade with durum wheat, topped with grilled pork belly & tossed in garlic, extra virgin olive oil, oregano & chili flakes. An "aglio olio" preparation, one of the most pleasing pastas we've had this year (OK, sure, it's only January). Air-dried speck ham & smoked scamorza cheese pizza. You know how Domino's & Pizza Hut frequently promote new creations that they claim will be deliciously meaty or divinely cheesy? Spasso Milano's wood-fired wonder fulfills those descriptions. Pork Valdostana _ escalopes topped with baked ham & fontina cheese. Warning: Spasso Milano isn't the place for healthy eating. Besides the obvious preponderance of pasta, pork & cheese, the sodium level in many of these recipes is more than perceptible. Traditional spirits of Italy _ from grappa to limoncello _ are offered by the glass (hurray!). Allegrini Grappa Di Amarone & Limoncello, Agriarti. Grappa Di Brunello, Banfi 2009 & Grappa Di Casalferro. They'll put hair on your chest! Bergami, Agriarti & Liquiri, Agriarti, for a honeyed finish. Teething troubles are evident; the service team is often diligent but occasionally dazed, resulting in the erratic delivery of dishes. It'll get better, we're confident of that.Last orders are at 10:30 pm daily. Brilliant! continue reading

Risotto Monzese (RM42)The risotto was just nicely flavoured. The risotto rice was good in texture, not too sticky nor watery. I love the piece of pork sausage chunk on top, and it is well-marinated with herbs. Hope they could give me more of the sausage chunks!Millie Foglie (RM16.80)The pastry was crispy and the cream went well with that, as well as the ice cream. The only thing that I dislike of this dish was the orange pieces (or was it peach), this fruit was bitter and it spoilt the whole dessert. continue reading
