As the name implies, the concept launched at its flagship restaurant in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur is an upscale casual Italian restaurant that offers an authentic Italian menu. Over here, diners can enjoy an elegant 5-star dining experience in a contemporary setting, ideal for both casual and formal occasion. Michelangelo’s famous painting of the Sistine Chapel’s “Creation of Adam”Michelangelo's kitchen is currently helmed by Executive Chef Paolo Pala, who hails all the way from Orroli, a village from the island of Sardinia in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea. With over 50 years of global culinary experience under his belt, that is garnered throughout his invaluable journey, Chef Paolo aims to introduce his style of real Italian comfort food to the local folks here by perfecting the dishes with ingredient-driven repertoire while staying true to Michelangelo`s philosophy- “Fresh food cooked simply, that’s what Italian food is all about”.

The restaurant projects an elegantly understated hue and decked out with cozy upholstered couch that is nicely embroidered to ensure the dining comfort of its guests. The presence of posters showing the images of the fine work of the famous Renaissance extraordinaire all over the restaurant is also an identity that will tell you are in Michelangelo’s establishment.

The newly introduced menu consists of all the classics that are loved by everyone including a wider variety of fresh salads and perfectly grilled fish dishes, home-made ravioli, risotto served from the Parmesan Wheel, Italian classic lamb dishes and of course home-made Italian desserts that savor the sweet tooth. By merely mentioning them, already gets me drooling again, hehe… So let’s have a look what are the illustrious dishes that you could expect from this full-fledged Italian revolution reminiscent of the renaissance theme.

ZUPPETTA DI MARE (MYR 28)

Mixed seafood soup in a spicy tomato broth, served with homemade toasted bread. Soup tasted appetizingly tangy, rich in herb aroma at the same time and completed with a light peppery hint. The huge prawns are really fresh and juicily sweet.

Assorted cold cuts and grilled vegetables served with home-made foccacia bread. Perfect antipasto for some light nibbles while waiting for the entrée to come.

RISOTTO POLLO FUNGHI (MYR 38)

Carnaroli rice served with grilled chicken cubes, mushrooms and parmesan cheese in mild creamy gravy that is so flavourful with the funghi aroma. Love the slightly chewy risotto texture that is cooked till 80% to attain that ideal classic nuance. Ma ma mia!

TORTELLI NERI GAMBERI, CALAMARIE MASCARPONE (MYR 45)

Homemade squid ink tortelli filled with prawn meat, squid and mascarpone in seafood marinara sauce. Each pasta parcels is thoroughly coated with savory sweet sauce to compliment the otherwise subtle taste of the ravioli-like skin.

One of my favourite plate and highly recommended hot-from-the-kitchen meal that is heavily loaded with freshly baked wholesomeness, hence form the highlights of Michelangelo's medley of passionately crafted dishes.

LINGUINI DEL PESCATORE (MY 39)

Linguini with tiger prawns, mussels, clams and squids woofed up with garlic, capers and olives the aglio olio style. The pasta is done al dente and deliciously enveloped with oceanic sweetness. Seafood lovers would definitely be thrilled over this recipe joyfully.

In a nutshell, Michelangelo's is a relatively affordable Italian restaurant that brings a world-class experience in western dining, wining and snacking through a lifestyle of design and ambience. You could also drop by its second outlet in Soho KL, Solaris Mont Kiara, for a change of environment. Can’t wait to be part of the heart and passion of this Italian oasis? Remember to check it out soon.
