For my birthday, a friend decided to treat me to a nice buffet lunch because we'd get to eat all that we want for the same price. We decided on Zipangu because it has gotten raved reviews for it's quality and Japanese food which is something we really enjoy. So it wasn't really a surprise that the place was quite filled with people considering that we went on the weekend. There were several families and also many other tables occupied but we got a nice quiet corner by the window. I gotta say that the staff are very friendly and accomodating because they led us to the quiet corner which I had requested for. They were also very attentive whenever we requested for some green tea or anything else. Service is a definite plus. As for the choices of food however, there is the selection of salads and then there were also the standard Japanese fare such as assorted sushi that were continuously made to fill up any empty platters. There was also a large corner for the seafood where it is pretty much available at most buffets. The seafood looked fresh and the two chefs behind the bar were working constantly to slice up the sashimi to make sure that the serving platters were always filled. Everything was very good that I had several helpings of them all.
All of the oysters were rather large in size, so were the prawns which I ate many rounds of. The dessert corner was my friend's favourite because there were many kinds - assorted cakes and pastries gallore. Since I prefer the savoury food, I did not really indulge in any dessert. However, apparently they were all only so-so according to my sweet expert friend.
Although I really enjoyed the buffet spread, this isn't a place that we'd return to if it were not for a sepcial occasion because of the rather steep price tag. Though I guess it is kind of worth it if you're a big eater and indulge in most of the seafood.
