They market themselves as a tapas, beer, wine hang out spot that has LCD TVs, to catch sports events at night? But on a saturday afternoon when I visited, they were showing AFC, pretty apt! They also have a couple of new darts machine in the back, for some leisure darting, while having a couple of beers with your friends. Chapter 1 provides a very comfy and cosy environment to hang out. The staff are attentive and they were very quick to refill our glasses of water.
Taking a look at the menu, they have a few all day breakfast options and then some pizzas and spaghettis are available daily only after 5pm. There's a little bit of everything here, including some desserts. Having done my research before visiting Chapter 1, I knew that I had to try their honey toast. They actually only sell 1 honey toast, but it's definitely all over instagram!1. Quattro Formaggi 18RM ++
The cheese pizzas was a thin crust pizza. The edges of the pizza crust was almost like a khong guan cream cracker! The cheese however, just tasted normal, apparently 4 types of cheese was used in it. The cheese layer didn't quite stick to the pizza, so it was almost like eating a layer of cheese that was gently placed onto of a cream cracker. Nothing fantastic for me, but it serves 2.2. As a matcha lover, I had to order this. This was a pale green matcha milk drink that was served on top of a layer of strawberry syrup. Interestingly, after I had evenly stirred the drink. I could distinctly taste both strawberry and matcha in every sip! I would first be able to taste the subtle green tea bitterness, followed by the sweetness of the strawberry syrup. I do recommend you give this drink a try!3. Honey Toast 24.90RM++
So the highlight of the meal was the honey toast, served with berries ice cream, more like sorbet. It was pretty impressive. A lot of effort and care was taken in plating this dessert. I also liked how the syrup was dripping down from one side. The berries ice cream had lots of little black dots in the ice cream, showcasing that real fruit was used. It was slightly on the sour side of ice cream sugar levels. But it was well complimented by the sweet red strawberry syrup.
The mix of fresh fruits was both appealing to the eyes and to my tummy. The exterior of the toast had a very thin wall, which I liked. Each rectangular piece of toast on the inside was evenly buttered and almost melted in my mouth along with the berries ice cream. This honey toast definitely met my expectation and I see why everyone keeps ordering this. I just wish that Chapter 1 would have more variations of this honey toast.
