Don and I dropped by Wok Sifu at JUSCO Metro Prima to give it another shot, despite the past incident that took place at the exact location prior to its renovation. It is a restaurant that operates similarly to Wong Kok Char Chan Teng, which it comes with a slogan, "To taste Hong Kong, taste in Wong Kok".

Wok Sifu was promoting set dinner during our visit, valid from 6pm to 9pm. Each set meal came with a main meal of your choice from a list stated on the menu, and a cup of drink. By adding only RM1, you can easily enjoy an extra bowl of Mushroom Soup.

 

 

 
Don's Pork Dolsot Bee Beem Bab has a weirder name than how it usually is in most Korean restaurants, the bibimbap. It is a signature Korean dish that is literally translated as mixed rice, topped with several types of vegetables and it often comes together with gochujang, a type of Korean hot pepper paste in red. Honestly, though, the one served at Wok Sifu may be considered fine as a bowl of ordinary mixed rice, but it is far from being a Korean dish.

His set dinner came together with a cup of Iced Hong Kong Style Yin Yong, a mixture of coffee and tea, at RM16.50 per set, and a bowl of Mushroom Soup that popped out of nowhere without us being charged.

 
Many restaurants that offer Hong Kong cuisine tend to have huge variety of food on the menus, causing difficulty in choosing merely one every darn time. Thus, I had no choice but to go for my usual selection, the Cheese Baked Rice with Chicken Chop. I thought it was okay, without extraordinarily good or bad savor, except the fact that it's extremely filling for a smaller eater.

My set with a cup of Iced Hong Kong Style Milk Tea cost similarly as Don's, plus a bowl of Mushroom Soup that you could easily grab from the supermarkets and make one of your own at home.

In my opinion, Wok Sifu hadn't changed much ever since my second-to-last visit. Everything remained, and the prices were still within the range. Similar food of better quality with more affordable prices could certainly be found elsewhere. Perhaps it would be a great place to dine in at, only if you are out of some better choices for a meal.

As the title suggests, we made sure to be at Ming Court Hong Kong Tim Sum, a well-known dim sum restaurant in town other than Foh San Restaurant, at approximately 9.30am, to avoid being late for our next activity. As funny as it may sound, being such strong competitors of each other in Ipoh, both restaurants are merely less than a minute walk away, bringing slightly heavier traffic along the street during peak hours. Looking for a parking space is never an easy job around the area; I've warned you!

Our breakfast was then ended with a bowl of Tau Fu Fah to waste a few more ringgits. Heh!

Just in case you would like to know, dim sum involves very huge amount of meat and perhaps oil, which explains why people, Chinese especially, tend to eat with a pot of Chinese Tea; it helps to reduce greasiness, more or less. RM38.10 was spent in total for our breakfast. It was still reasonable and within our price range, but it could be more worthy if such amount of money were to be spent at the dim sum restaurant located near my house. Our overall experience with Ming Court Hong Kong Tim Sum was good, and I would like to go with a 6.5/10.

And my stomach is now grumbling. :|

With two grumbling tummies filled with only the disappointing ABC at the moment, we finally decided to hunt for Snow Beer at Sun Yoon Wah Café, located right next to Jalan Bandar Timah. After driving around the nearby streets, we couldn't see any restaurant of the similar name only to realize it is actually located at the opposite part of Jalan Bijeh Timah, which we did not know its existence until the third day of the trip.

Eventually, in order to save our tummies, we had no choice but to stop at Maysin Restaurant instead to settle our dinner of the night.

It's Snow Beer! lol

The idea is actually pretty simple, the beer is chilled till it’s almost frozen, I’m guessing probably below 4 C. The beer glasses are super chilled separately, and when the two meets, the beer foam is instantly frozen, and the beer itself remained super cold but in liquid form. – KYspeaks

Initially, I did not want to order a huge bottle of Carlsberg for fear that we definitely would not be able to finish it, but we still had it anyway, not because we needed it, but we wanted it ourselves. It was great when it was still very chilled with frozen foam on top until it melted that it started to taste bitterer and stronger. I took it sip by sip until the bitterness sort of disgusted me to a certain extent, which the remaining beer I had made no difference with a glass full of beer, so the Badman had almost the entire bottle of Carlsberg before we drove back to our hotel.

Surely, we needed some solid food to fill our empty tummies other than merely beer. Reasonably priced at RM10 for a plate of Signature Fried Noodles for two, it was indeed more than enough to feed us well. Even though it was slightly too oily for my liking, it tasted fine with my favourite medium, juicy prawns.

I do not know if things would be much better in Sun Yoon Wah Café. Here at Maysin Restaurant, we encountered some waitresses with rude faces yet acceptable services. The entire dinner cost not more than RM25, including a bottle of Carlsberg (RM13.50), a plate of Signature Fried Noodles for two (RM10), and a glass of cold Chinese tea (RM0.50 or RM1). Although it would not be highly recommended, I suppose it was after all not a bad place for a regular gathering with friends or families.

Face to Face Noodles House at Taylor's University is not a good example of the saying, although inaccurate, that goes, "Good foods are never found in restaurants with multiple outlets." Their Pan Mee was not disappointing after all, even though incomparable with Kam Kei Noodles House in Selayang. Personally, it seems like a restaurant that sells overpriced Pan Mee, crowded only during peak hours.

 
I have only visited this particular outlet at Taylor's University for not more than five times, to be frank, and another outlet located somewhere within the country for merely once. I have tried their Creations Minced Pork Pan Mee, House Specialty Hot and Spicy Pan Mee (Dry), and Sichuan Piquant Pan Mee (less spicy), so I decided to challenge myself with their Vegetarian Hot and Spicy Pan Mee (Dry). I ended up eating it regretfully. I was about to be able to spout some flame and lava, I swear!

My overall experience with their Pan Mee was quite ordinary. In fact, I tend to take this restaurant as a backup, in case my original plan is somehow ruined.

 
This is something that I would never want to order ever again. I was craving for a cup of Soya Bean with Longan, and I mistook this cup of Longan Fresh Milk as what I thought it was. It was not too bad as a cup of milk, but I never like milk, that's why.

Apart from Pan Mee, Face to Face Noodles House sells Sarawak noodles, rice noodles, rice, side orders, breads, and desserts, and each of them come with various choices. As I review about the restaurant, I have come to realize that Face to Face Noodles House also specializes in the local fare with excellent fusion of Sarawak's homemade noodles, widely known as "Kolok Mee". I should give it a good try soon!

Wantan Soup. I wasn't very hungry when I went to the restaurant with one of my friends, so I decided to order something light. It wasn't really light though, because it was covered with a layer of oil when it was served, as you can see from the picture, and there're 10 dumplings filled with minced pork each. The vegetables were very difficult to be bitten because they're huge in size and, just hard. Generous amount of MSG was believed to be added as well.

This will never be something I would prefer, unless I run out of choice. Ugh!
