Dinner at Ben's by BIG, Publika Smile Aug 08, 2013

Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Restaurant | Pizza/Pasta | Burgers / Sandwiches

Wild Mushroom Spaghettini with Mascarpone. It was very similar to Plan B's Wild Mushroom Pasta, cooked together with small pieces of lemon and scented with truffle oil, but with some sauce. The portion was relatively smaller than Plan B's as well, but it was very filling for me. The amount of mushrooms wasn't satisfying enough for a mushroom lover like me though.

Chocolate Truffle Torte, served with a glass of icy cold milk. It's nice to be shared among five people or above, but having it alone or less than five people might disgust you due to its texture. It was more like a piece of chocolate mousse, served when it was still more solid, but became so much softer by the time we finished our meal.

Berrific Sundae. One of my girl friends who came along ordered this because she wanted to have something cold and sweet. It was filled with a few types of berries, vanilla ice-cream, and dripped with chocolate sauce. Even though our stomachs were all bloated, we didn't hesitate to finish it without taking a break. So satisfyingly good!

Relaxation with Caramel Macchiato Smile Aug 08, 2013

Caramel Macchiato is by far my only favourite beverage in any Starbucks Coffee outlets. Of the numerous outlets available within Subang Jaya or Bandar Sunway, I went to the one at Taylor's University because I was just staying around the area. Although this outlet has always been popular only among the students in the campus, the services provided are still good. It is a great place for revisions as well!

Anyway, Starbucks Coffee has stated that Caramel Macchiato is "freshly steamed milk with vanilla-flavored syrup, marked with espresso and finished with caramel sauce". I could hardly explain why I love this cup of coffee among the plenty of beverages available in the outlet. It was introduced to me by a girl friend of mine who happened to be a frequent customer of Starbucks Coffee, when I was still new to Starbucks Coffee. Perhaps it's the light coffee taste that attracts me, or is it the caramel? Also, whenever I asked for extra caramel, the staffs will generously add more caramel for me.

lol

Pommes Frites Bistro at Asian Avenue, Sunway Pyramid, has been one of our favorite places for an enjoyable and affordable Western meal, offering wide selection of spaghetti, pastas, and even freshly cut fries cooked in different styles. Honestly, we tend to experience hard times deciding on the most preferred choice from the menu during each of our visits. This particular time, however, was slightly different from the others. I was too full from my late lunch, so I couldn't help but to opt for a lighter meal, which was in fact not entirely light.

I had my Regular Ultimate Clams cooked with mushrooms, shallots, garlic, parsley, and butter, served together with Belgian Fries with Mayo. I found the clams to be quite okay, although incomparable with those served at the seafood restaurants, except that they were not totally cooked. Soup wise, it could be so much closer to getting a "thumbs up" if the amount of salt added were to be reduced.

Pommes Frites Bistro is actually famous for its fries, and they are claimed to be freshly cut. Their Belgian Fries was definitely good in terms of taste and smell. My only advice for my fellow readers is to be aware of the type of sauce you order. I had Belgian Fries with Cheddar Cheese during my very first visit with Don, and I wasn't very happy with the outcome. It wasn't even appetizing at all, to be very frank.

Don had Spaghetti Carbonara with Fried Chicken, if I'm not mistaken. I would usually prefer my spaghetti to be cooked with aglio olio, but here at Pommes Frites Bistro, regardless of its exaggerated portion, I loved their milky carbonara. Trust me, you can never say no to that!

In case you're curious about the term, "exaggerated portion", their portions for spaghetti are always huge enough to get your tummy stuffed to a maximum level. I'm serious!

So, would you consider coming? I hope it's a yes!

Italiannies is a place I would rarely consider to go, unless I crave strongly for their Tiramisu, or during special occasions. This time, it was a birthday celebration for Don. We were both on a limited budget during our visit, so we preferred to go for their promotion. Each of us ordered a set meal that came with an appetizer and a main meal.

Two different types of bread served together with olive oil and vinegar was complimentary, if I'm not mistaken. I had the bread alone without dipping into any of those as usual. It was soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. So satisfying!

My Italian Clams Soup. This was my appetizer. It tasted more like a bowl of tomato soup. The clams were so small and it was pretty obvious that they were not fresh at all.

Toasted Bruschetta. This was his appetizer but I didn't taste any because I didn't like tomatoes then.

His Parmesan Crusted Fish. It was deep fried fish fillet served over red onion strings with white capers sauce. The fish tasted normal but I personally think the onions were delicious.

My Risotto with Asparagus and Chicken. It may look good, but honestly, it was the worst choice I had ever made. I guess it was probably due to my own taste bud. Additionally, it was too oily and creamy to the extent that I nearly puked while eating. Only the chicken managed to satisfy me.

Also, the risotto seemed powdery but I'm not sure if it's normal or it's the chef's problem.

Here comes the highlight of the day!

We added one Tiramisu into our order despite the bloated stomach. If you are a cake lover, you should definitely give it a try. The portion was huge too. As soon as I put a mouthful of the cake into my mouth, it melted immediately. It was extremely juicy because of the liqueur and espresso in it. Yummmmmmm!

I will be sure to return to any of its outlets again, for more Tiramisu!

Brunch at Madam Kwan's Smile Apr 27, 2013

Categories : Malaysian variety | Restaurant | Steaks / Chops | Noodles | Nasi Lemak

If you have heard of Madam Kwan's, you might as well have known about what it was mainly famous for, services and foods. At least to my mind, they served truly Malaysian cuisine with very efficient services. It was my second time dining in the same restaurant ever since the last day of July 2010, and it is located in Midvalley Megamall.

Some people might say that this is the best Nasi Lemak in town; yes it was, considering where Midvalley Megamall is located at but if you're to say it is the best Nasi Lemak ever, personally, I think the best one goes to Village Park Restaurant at Damansara Utama.

As for the one above, there're actually two types of Nasi Lemak stated in the menu and I nearly ordered the wrong one. One was way simpler and cheaper which I guess it didn't consist of chicken but the one we ordered was the more expensive Nasi Lemak which as you can see, there're chicken rendang, sambal, some spicy chicken floss, half of a boiled egg, and two pieces of cucumber. Two plates of Nasi Lemak were served within 5 to 10 minutes right after we placed our orders.

Apart from Village Park Restaurant that I mentioned previously, I agreed that Madam Kwan's also served one of the very few best Teh Tarik I have ever tried. Yummm! lol
