Keropok Lekor Smile Aug 28, 2013

Keropok Lekor

After taking a boat ride from Perhentian Island to Kuala Besut Jetty, we decided to head to the town of Kota Bharu before heading back home. It is my first time stepping on this land, although my dad used to there on work purposes lol

Local delights are not the be missed should you want to immerse yourselves with the culture here. And so, we saw a stall selling the familiar snack that we used to eat, Keropok Lekor. Apparently, the keropok lekor here is much bigger size and less floury. It is fried till slightly crispy on the outside while decently soft within. You will still get to taste the fish flavor in this fried fritters.

Wantan Noodle Smile Jul 15, 2013

Wantan Noodle

It’s been sometime since I last went to Kuantan for some short escape from the hustle and bustle of the city in KL, in search for some real homey food. This small peaceful town actually houses quite a lot of local delights that are freshly made, almost without much preservative.

Just like this plate of decent wan tan noodle. Am pretty sure everyone has heard and even tried this common fare at any place. But the difference would be on the types of ingredients they used. In this case, you won’t see any read ‘char siew’, but instead got replaced with flavorful braised meat and mushroom slices, chicken slices, fish cakes, dumplings and vegetables. The dumplings are bit bland, so you better pair it with the pickled green chillies for some kick. Nevertheless, the dumpling skin is very silky smooth! One things to highlight is that the mushroom slices are really nicely marinated with all the sauces and thus, very delish to the tastebud. Love it!

Roti Boy Soya Bean Smile Jul 15, 2013

Roti Boy Soya Bean

It was a quick hang out on one Sunday afternoon to get some groceries for the following week. The mall wasquite crowded with families were seen enjoying the quality time being together and also youngsters sharing their weekend with their buddies alike.

As it’s quite a hot day, thought that a cooling drink like Soya Bean will do good. And so, I decided to get one bottle conveniently from The Rotiboy shop as I passed by. Usually I would just know that the bakery is known for its coffee bread, but now seems like there has been some new additions to their menu.
Their Soya Bean drink is said to be 100% freshly processed from the beans, and thus I thought there might just be very minimal preservatives needed or so. In fact, it tastes pretty good with no sendiments of the beans. It’s considered very fragrant of the soya beans used and not too sweet. Thank god the sugar level is of kept to the minimum level.

Blueberry Light Cheese Smile May 31, 2013

Blueberry Light Cheese

I actually bought this cake to celebrate 2013 Mother’s Day. It’s a nearby neighbourhood bakery at the town of Kemaman. Overall, the cake is moderately delicious and soft. As it’s meant to be light cheese, so the cake is a mixture of sponge cake and another very light cheese content, sandwiching the blueberries in white cream. The surface of the cake is also generously garnished with a layer of blueberries, alongside some other fruits like peach, strawberry and kiwi. It seems to be best enjoyed after chilled.

Stir-fried Tapioca Shoot

I enjoy this vegetable very much, much more when am also a vege lover lol The young shoots of the greens is very chewy and crisp,. They are fried with the minimum seasonings as less as possible which allows you to enjoy the juiciness of the plant. When added with loads of minced garlic, the aroma it produces is very intensively inviting and good to go already with a plate of hot rice. Simple and nutritious! ^^
