Chawanmushi

As a hors d’ oeuvres, it certainly has done a great job in warming up the tummy. The egg is well beaten and steamed under controlled heat for a specific time thus creating a smooth and velvety layer. Bubbles are not visible thus reflects the skillful preparation of this appetizer. Coupled with slice of shitake and fishcake, makes it a good and light pre course lol

Azuma Japanese Restaurant

In fact, it is not really my forte to dine at Japanese restaurant when am in the land of hawker food haven lol But of course, once awhile diverging from my usual epicurean compass might be a good thing too- get to explore more stuff!

And so, my friend brought me to this chic restaurant to have some grasp of the cuisine. The moment you walk in, you would be greeted amiably by its helpful staff that directs you to a comfy couch. From here you have sip of some hot green tea before the food is being served. While waiting for your orders to arrive, you may choose from the sushi conveyor belt to pick some of your favourite sushi, while enjoying the cozy ambiance.

Wan Tan Mee Smile Aug 21, 2013

Before my Penang friend brought me here, I didn’t know that Chulia street is so happening at nightlol The place is popular among the locals as well as tourist like me tongue Of course, one of the attraction couldn’t run away from food for sure. And for that, my pal introduce this famous Wan Tan Mee of Chulia Street. What so distinctive to me is that the char siew served here is of lighter marinade colour, where you still get to see the red lining of the outer layer from the inner lean meat. It is equally tangy and chewy too. Comes with some fried dumpling and some blanched vegetable, it is quite nice to go with the simple fare of the noodles which is quite springy with a tinge of eggy taste.

Sizzling Chicken ‘n’ Ham

Thinking to take the road less taken by the round tables diners of fried chicken, so I go for the dish of Sizzling Chicken ‘n’ Ham that arouses my curiosity. The chicken chop is grilled and served on the sizzling hot pan, before drenched with thick savory gravy that resembles mushroom sauce. Chicken meat is tender and coupled with a tangy slices of ham to go along. On the French fries part, no doubt I always love them, same goes to the green peas too. If only there are some butter cubes to go along with the bread, then it would be better. Else, the bread by itself, does taste bit dry lol

Chicken Cordon Bleu

Wow, looks like my favourite is back again! Initially I was thinking to have fish cordon blue instead, but how on earth do I know that it has been sold out so fast! Therefore, ended up with the chicken variety instead. Well, I would say not too bad as the stuffed ingredients in the chicken meat is actually quite compact and soft. You can taste the slices of ham, cheese and chicken meat distinctly, though I would prefer a more blended mixture as the one by Mizi Bistro, so to thoroughly enjoy the oozing cheese lol
