What
drawn me to Jollibean initially is
the fact that, I finally found a place where I could enjoy a healthful and
freshly made ‘taufufa’ without the usage of gypsum, or more commonly known
among Chinese as ‘sek ko fun’.

The petite kiosk
embarking on an ‘All-in-one Drink and Snack’ concept store
is originated from Singapore and local folks here could now locate it conveniently
at the Lower Ground of Berjaya Times Square.

Jollibean
uses only the best quality Canadian ‘Hellum’ Soya beans that are prepared fresh
on demand with the help of specially designed machines, to extract 100% natural
servings of soya milk in every cup as freshness is never compromised.

GINGER SOY MILK (MYR 5.30)

Never been so warm and
satisfying by having it hot. It’s good for the body immunity system too.

For the Freeze Iced
Blended Station, we tried………

J-SPECIAL SOY FREEZE (MYR 8.50)

It’s actually a mixture of
matcha soyfreeze with Japanese Azuki Red Beans over soy milk.

All food are jolli-fully made
from pure and natural state, without the involvement of any flavoring
nor preservatives. Hence customers could enjoy their meal worry free yet
ensuring optimum daily diet intake. To complement the soya milk, a fast vanishing
local snack is also incorporated to make it a wholesome affair- Pancakes (widely known in Singapore as Mee Chiang Kueh but fondly
known to us here as Apam Balik, Ban Chiang Kueh or Jollipancake, as given by
the joyful gnomes of Jollibean.Indeed, the pancakes are
fluffily thick but soft, but somewhat denser than the usual one you seen in
Penang or KL. Best eaten warm and currently, there are 4 flavours to choose
from.

APAM BALIK PANDAN GREEN BEAN (MYR 2.50)

APAM BALIK PINEAPPLE (MYR 2.50)

A rather unique filling
that closely resembles those familiar companion for your yummy pineapple tart. Thankfully,
it’s not too sugary sweet as it’s homemade. Yum!

APAM BALIK PEANUT (MYR 2)

Love it the most! (=

Or MINI ROLLS of mixed flavours (MYR
5.30- BOX OF 6 PCS)

If you are up for some
light snacks, then fix your craving by trying out the nearly ethereally light
crepe bites that gonna get you hooked on for more. Peanuts filling in
particular, is the crème de la cream among all due to the fragrant and aromatic
nutty bites of the coarsely crushed groundnuts. No wonder it’s also the fave of
Vincent Tan, the person who brought in
this brand to Malaysia for the love of this oriental crepe after trying it out
for the first time during his visit to Singapore previously. Each circular
crepe need at least 20 minutes to be prepared as it involved some ‘secret trade’
skills to prepare it crisply which allows it to be kept fresh yet still crunchy
up to a week, wow!

Stay crisp pancake which
comes in different fillings. Again, the peanut is simply stellar!

CHICKEN FLOSS (MYR 2.60 FOR 1PC | MYR FOR 13 PCS)

RED BEAN (MYR 2)

PEANUT (MYR 2)

You called it Tau Fu Fa,
they loved it as Soy Beancurd (=

Freshly made daily using
Grade A, non-GMO, Identity Preserved (IP) Canadian Soy Beans

For the Jolli bowl of tau
fu fah, enjoy it the classic way or with some tinge of sugar.

GULA MELAKA (MYR 3.70)

New Item!JOLLI CHENDOL (MYR 5.90)

Choice of grass jelly or
red bean

Some
cooling desserts to tantalize you further!

For the Jolli Pudding
range, customers could opt from 4 flavours.

Among them, the almond
bowl warms the cockles of my heart best with its subtle hint of almond taste
that is pleasantly soothing, and their classic comes after that. It’s so light
and silken that if you are being not so careful, you would end up slurping in a
big chunk of the delicate pudding at one go, haha.

CLASSIC (MYR 4.20)MATCHA (MYR 5.30)

CHOCOLATE (MYR 5.30)

ALMOND (MYR 5.30)It is said that with just
2 glasses of Jollibean soy milk a day, your daily calcium requirement is
fulfilled. So let’s start spreading the joy of staying healthy and eating
nutritiously!

The Tea Verandah begins its operation on the same day as Atria Mall is
officiated and opened to public in the month of May recently. Epicurean
especially tea enthusiasts particularly, surely would love to drop by here one
of these days, to harvest a variety of tea types that gonna engage you
sensuously. As the saying goes, “Birds of the same feather will flock together”
right? So let’s have a relaxing
gathering here over some delicious homey grubs to accompany your tea enjoyment
too.

Joan, the amiable café owner who is
also an ardent tea lover, would be more glad than happy to share her insightful
knowledge with regards to tea or any questions pertaining to this dainty
delights. There are indeed a smorgasbord of potpourri of tea blends for you to tickle your
taste amusingly, from Europe Fruits Tea, Organic Tea, Herbs Tea, Healthy Tea,
Pure Europe Herbs & Flowers Tea, Rooibos Tea, Yogurt Tea to your Classic
Black Tea.

While allowing the tea to steep, let’s
first start off with some wholesome meal freshly dished up upon order by Chef
Imran and the team.

Moules marinières- classic French cuisine
style to greet you as starter.

MUSSELS POT (MYR 18.90)

Mussels braised in special butter
garlic sauce, served with bread toasts.

I somehow get addicted to the
lightly browned but crispy toasties, served alongside creamy sauce which is
freshly grated from cream cheese
block to render that delicate milkiness.

GRILLED SALMON STEAK (MYR 25.90)

Salmon steak served with mashed
potato, garlic butter spinach and asparagus.

Love the juicy slab of oceanic treat
that is calmly seated atop the chunky spud. The salmon seems to be poached and
lightly marinated to preserve its natural taste. Bit of salt and pepper here
and there, are sufficient. Health conscious folks would definitely delights in
this healthy grub which comes simply palatable and fuss-free.

Now let’s not get too carried away
with the toothsome food and forget about our tea brewing at the other corner. Let’s
check out what’s in stored for us.

All tea comes in 3 different types
of tea pot sizes; Elegant, Petite and Classic.

TROPICAL SKY (MYR 13.80-A POT / MYR
33- T SET)

Pineapple, papaya, mango, tangerine
slice, safflower, rose, sunflower and physalis (gooseberries)

This Europe Fruit Tea caught my attention
immediately after the first sips and the memory remains vividly even till now
when recalling it. It’s so fragrant and sweet-scented with various fruits
aroma that easily makes anyone’s perfect chillers and instant thirst-quenchers.

This fruit tea produced from a
factory in Germany and then personally hand-picked by Joan and patented to Tea
Verandah, which is a the brainchild of the youthful lass herself.TEA VERANDAH (MYR 18-A POT / MYR
36.50- T SET)

Apple bits, lemon bits, cherries,
pineapple, mango bits, papaya, hibiscus blossoms, orange peels, rose hips
peels, elder berries, peach bits, apricot bits and orange bits.

It tastes as good as it smells. Graceful
and fruity undertone gently greets your palate upon the first sip before rounds
up with a delicate and harmonious aftertaste with a mild bite tanginess. It’s
elegant in its way too.

As for the Rooibos Tea category, we
tried CAPPUCCINO CREAM (MYR
13.80-A POT / MYR 33- T SET)

Rooibos, cappuccino bits and
marigold blossoms- essentially comes with the coffee aroma.

Something really intriguingly
interesting- suitable for those looking for alternative to fix their caffeine
craving or to reduce coffee intake. It makes a healthier version for the caffeine
content in the cappuccino flower is really minimal, if not almost inexistent.
So, keep them in the check-list (=

New tea in the house- BEN’GIN (MYR 9.90)

Bentong ginger, red dates and lemon.

I must say that the ginger taste is
pretty strong as the best of the best breed from Bentong is used, hence this
surely appeals to true ardent fans of ginger, which is one of a good to improve
indigestion.

Not your cup of tea still? Fret not
as there are still a mélange of other teas selections from the various
varietals which help in easing irregular sleeping pattern and some particular
blend even aids in slimming down purpose
too.

After the first sip for the original
tea taste , guests could actually try adding in a smidgen or more sugar cane
for another kind of palate enjoyment. To me, it somehow does enhance the tea
fragrance- in this case, it was the signature Tea Verandah that I tested on.
Not too bad an idea really.

What’s the ideal partner to any tête
à tête session if not some morsel of desserts to complement the whole delectation
on a sweet note?

TEA VERANDAH CHEESECAKE (MYR
13.50)

The
classic cheesecake garnished with some strawberries for some added tartness.
Would be wonderful if the cake presents
a moister texture.

Tea Set or T Set as known here, is also available all day long.

Choices of morsels would change
weekly, so do stay anticipated for surprise!

As for that day, our palate were
tickled amusingly by Bread Puff with Spicy Crab Meat, Tuna Puff and Sausage
Chutney Puff that thrills you out of the blue with the added crushed marlie
biscuit in it, just like how you would usually enjoy your canapés.

On top of that, we are also
accompanied by Chocolate Caramelized Bananas with Lady’s Fingers together with
the ocean-themed Jelly with Osmanthus Flower as well as Vanilla Muffin.

In a nutshell, savoury food may not
be that prominent over here as the main highlights still owes to its farrago of
tea. Nevertheless, sheer passions and sincerity are warmly felt as part of
their ingredients, so kudos to the ever chipper crew of Tea Verandah. More
selections of desserts and gourmets would be added from time to time, so do stay
tuned at Tea Verandah page or swift by whenever you are at Atria Mall.

Been operating nearly 3 months’ now since last May, Shunka Japanese Restaurant has been welcoming folks from the Damansara neighbourhood with their cozy family concept dining, boasts with an array of promising Japanese delights, ranging from the signature staples to the quintessential epitome of dessert- matcha.

Edisson,
YC and Elven, are the 3 musketeers behind this establishment, with most works
and recipes are managed by Chef Elven behind the scene. Shunka first foray into
the F&B industry was 5 years ago in Penang, before deciding to also include
Klang Valley into their radar, allowing more foodies from all walks of life to
also have a fair share of experience with Shunka.

This establishment from Northern Malaysia provides a Zen-inspired dining experience
from the most authentic Japanese Cuisine, Matcha to Sake, complete with an
urban interior set up.

Sashimi
is also available in the menu in order to cater for fans of sliced raw fish but
not prominent as their main aim is to introduce more homey hot dishes, Washoku,
relived from Tokyo to tantalize the discerning palates of KL folks with large variety of scrumptious dishes and
regional specialties.We
started off with some light bites before proceeding to main dishes and rounded
up with some matcha delights!

GRILLED PORK BELLY (MYR 7.30)

Thinly
sliced pork bellly using Iberico pig and pan-fried till to perfection. Each
bite is so delightfully crispy and exudes the ‘kriukk kriukk’ sound that gets
you hooked on for more! No joke but simply spectacular, serious!

Love
this tontoro shioyaki to the max! Highly recommend! Slurps!

CRISPY SUSHI (MYR 13.90)

Conveniently
bite-sized sushi with a crispy skin on the outside but remains soft within. The
roll is made up of unagi, eel sauce and cucumber. Good bites of nuance by the
crispy exterior, would be better if the mayo is lighter so as not to overshadow
the dainty taste of unagi.

BUTTER GRILLED SQUID (MYR
22.90)

Ika
bata yaki, Japanese squid marinated with inhouse prepared 3 types of shoyu, before
lightly grilled with butter, rendering a juicier and moister texture compared to the
usually Ika Sumire which is grilled smokier elsewhere.

JAPANESE CHEESE OMELETTE (MYR
10.50)

This tamagoaki
in fact requires substantial efforts and skills with passion as the cooking
process requires several delicate folding to create various soft layers to go
with the mayonnaise sauce before got dished up delicately onto the ceramic.

KIMCHI STEAMBOAT (MYR 17.90)

The
flavourful broth is made of home fermented kimchi and served in 3 spiciness
level. For me personally, would go for the original, non-spicy version for that
allows me to really enjoy the savory-tanginess of the kimchi.

Guests
who love some spicy kick in their soup could request for additional chili
blend- ‘hua ciao’ into it, and within seconds, you gonna feel the hotness,
hehe. So do go easy on it (= Soup
can be refilled once and every subsequent would be charged MYR 3.

JAPANESE DUMPLING (MYR 10.50)

The
yaki gyoza is using minced meat and chopped Chinese chives for extra crispness,
before wrapped within thin dough skin imported from Japan before lightly
pan-fired till slightly golden brown to preserve the juiciness within. It is served together with spiced shoyu
dipping. Each mouthful is juicy and meaty.

SPICY PORK BULGOGI (MYR 17.90)

We
nearly mistook it into Korean Bibimbap (=

Toothsome
bowl of rice woofed up hot from the kitchen with assorted veggies and succulent
pork slices. Meat is decently marinated except that the rice might need tad
more saltiness in it. Apart from that, the foodies of the round table were
happily mixing all the ingredients of the stone bowl together with onsen
tamago.

GARLIC FRIED RICE (MYR 10.50)

Garlic
fried rice using inhouse handled garlic relish beforehand and then fried
together with minced meat to present you a bowl of hearty carbo intake.

TONKATSU SHOYU RAMEN (MYR
19.90)

This ramen
of shoyu and tonkatsu broth is essentially crafted to reflect the common taste
bud of our fellow Japanese friends. Combining both shoyu and tonkotsu in the
same broth, expect a tad saltier taste in the soup to accompany your silky
noodle, tender pork slices and aji tamago.

JAPANESE OMELETTE NOODLE (MYR
13.90)

The
noodle version of our ubiquitous omurice, has been given a new breath at Shunka
by using springy ramen that is flavoured with sauce imported from Japan.

Another
matcha oasis worth checking out for green tea enthusiasts. I must say this is
the second place that I enjoy the matcha desserts other than Nana’s Green Tea so far.

All
matcha desserts that we sampled this evening are made with only fresh milk for
any liquid base- absolutely no ice involved throughout. Thus, matcha lovers
need not worry if their green tea dessert or beverage gets diluted over time.

MAGIC MATCHA (MYR 16.90)

Love
the majikku matcha that uses cubes of Matcha frozen ice, together with matcha
gelato as well as their inhouse trademarked matcha powder (which is available
at retail price MYR 38)

For
this particular drink, it’ll get much more concentrated in matcha flavor as it
melts as the ice cubes are also frozen from matcha liquid. Yum yum!

ICED MATCHA WITH RED BEAN (MYR
16.90)

Just how
you like your matcha and red bean desserts are served -Matcha Kakigori and Azuki. The red
beans have also been separately handled earlier to sweeten up the beans to the
desired softness level that resembles those conventionally served back in The
Land of Rising Sun.

HOT MATCHA (MYR 7.30)

Looking
for not so fancy drink? Then this hot matcha that is made smoother with milk
might just do the trick for conventionalist.

MARBLE SODA (MYR 6.90)

We basically
have fun with this carbonated drink, where it was first shaken before the
stopper got popped up, hence, the splashing consequence as you might have
predicted, haha. What a cool ending to our Washoku dining session! Kanpai!

Value sets are also available from MYR 11.90++ onwards, Monday to Saturday, 1130am through

Cheers for now and follow us at Carpe Diem for more ‘food-ful’ discoveries! ❤ℒℴѵℯ❤

Swine lovers could now relish in their meaty craving worry-free, healthier in a way, as Piggy Tail uses only Sakura Pork for all its pork-themed dishes. What is Sakura pork, you might ask. Well, compared to the conventional mass-market production that are injected with hormones to speed up their growth, the Sakura pigs are raised the traditional way, without the use of beta agonist, ractopamine or other artificial feed additives, but instead with healthy diet of veggies and grains, absolutely no bone meal or other fillers. This resulting in a much juicy and tangy meat, with light pinkish hue as reflected by the meat.
Expect a rendition of east-meets-west menu, where western dishes are twisted with oriental flavor by the passionate folks behind Piggy Tail’s kitchen, also undoubtedly meat lovers who wish to present you masterful meals with premium meats- taste real, pure and unadulterated pork elaborately. It’s a popular choice back in USA and Canada, where more people love eating good and healthy pork.
As the cliché has it, appetizers greets our table first so as to kick off the session.
WILD MUSHROOM SOUP MYR 18
Signature soup with wild mushroom and cream with drizzle of black truffle oil. You would never go wrong with this highly prized underground subterranean fungus that liberally enhances the overall taste of any dish it partakes.
PORK CORN MYR 16
Deep-fried chunks of Sakura Pork peppered with secret spices and served with Special BBQ Mayo. For this nosh, pork tendon part is particularly chosen for the extra crispy chewiness upon deep fried till golden brown. The addictive bite-sized snacks are already good to go by itself without dipping the sauce.
PREMIUM PORK AGLIO OLIO MYR 25
Grilled Sakura pork neck meat, spaghetti with red chilli flakes, garlic, olive oil and sliced bacon to go with. Love the al dente done spaghetti No.3- decent thickness, that is springy to the taste bud entailed with some peppery aroma coupled with juicy pork neck meat.
SNOWY PIGGY CARBONARA MYR 22
As for the overall aroma, my vote goes to this creamy bacon spaghetti topped with an egg yolk- just the traditional way any Italian loves it. I especially relish in the immense flavor of parsley herbs that are liberally added to it, making it a truly tastefully satisfying. Would be better if could go easy on the sprinkled parmesan cheese on the top, otherwise is tad salty to my liking. Other than that, ma ma mia!
PIGGY PORK SHOULDER STEAK MYR45
Any porcine lovers are destined to fall head over heels for this uber-juicy and literally bouncy pork shoulder cut, that you really feel and hear the ‘crisp’ sound in your every bite. Really, no joke!
Only a very limited premium pork shoulder meat available to be barbecued (after all, each pig has only one shoulder right? ^^) with unique piggy BBQ sauce till extremely tender, and served with mash potatoes and salad.
BBQ LONG PORK RIBS MYR 55
Premium long rib consisting layers of thick meat balanced out with some fat, barbecued with Piggy Tail’s unique BBQ sauce. The luscious ribs are chargrilled till tender, resulting in a meaty but juicier texture, served on a bed of mash and salad.
Voila! New kid’s of the block!
SPICY SHORT PORK RIBS MYR 58
A rack of premium, lean short ribs barbecued with unique piggy spicy sauce. Expect a more compact nuance as this cut presents more lean meats than the long ribs, both also chargrilled to perfection and served on a bed of mash and salad. Do take not that it could be mild spicy to some due to its special Thai-inspired marinade, otherwise very appetizingly convincing with its pleasant piquancy.
SIGNATURE LAMB CHOPS MYR 45
Grilled marinated NZ lamb chop with homemade Mongolian sauce, served with chips and vege of the day.
Once bitten, infinitely smitten by its brilliantly marinated meat that is very saporous and toothsomely promising. The gamey taste got handled very well and has me hooked on for more effortlessly. The mashed spud is lovesome too with its buttery hint.
PIGGY PORK BURGER MYR 28
Homemade pork patty of a balanced 60-40 marbling, layered with melted cheese, crispy bacon strips, veggies and onion rings between toasted buns and served with curly fries and salad. Am happy even without the onion rings but not curly fries (they are a must!) for the meat patty is skillfully charbroiled before pan seared to lock in the juice under adept hands. The manually mixed cake is lightly marinated so to preserve its original sweetness.
MIXED PORK FRANKS MYR30
3 uniquely spiced premium pork franks served with mash and salad, comprising of spicy, original and herb infused wienerwursts. And my fave is none other than the herb one, besides the spicy variant which can be quite appealing with its flavours resembling those of tandoori recipe.
Soon, let’s welcome the King of the night!
SIGNATURE PORK KNUCKLES MYR 86
The perfect mix of crunchy crackling skin, enveloping the tender meat beneath, served with supreme gravy sauce, mash and salad.
The fête would only be complete with a round of cheers among the camaraderie with a toss of Drift 2012 Pinot Noir from New Zealand.
Conclude your Piggy Tail experience with the signature, one-of-a-kind dessert; heavenly homemade truffle ice cream drizzled with crispy bacon bits and drowned in chocolate sauce. A perfect mix of sweet and salty taste, which I personally opine fares better than the ubiquitous bacon ice cream craze of late. Perhaps largely due to the complementing taste of white truffle.
SIGNATURE TRUFFLE ICE CREAM with BACON BITS MYR 18
Somehow this glorious martini-cupped dessert steals the limelight of the day!
Heavenly inhouse made black truffle infused ice cream drizzled with white truffle oil, crispy and savory bacon bits, and last but not least, drowned in chocolate sauce, rendering a perfect mix of sweet and salty to end the feast on a high note. People either love or hate the knobbly truffle smell. Suffice to say I love it (=

Humbly nestled adjacent to our glorious KLCC Twin Towers is where you could find yourself relishing in an moreish array of Thai cuisine, all passionately crafted by a Thai Chef and Jeffred, owner-cum-chef of the restaurant too.
First and foremost, am really glad to be back again to this cozy oasis and to my delights, I really see consistency exuded in both the food quality and tastefulness, similar to my previous visit here. All food are freshly and flavorfully done that ensures each mouthful bites is certainly a pleasurable one.
It was rather packed when we walked in for dinner that evening. The clients ranging from both local and expatriates who seem to be tucking into the feast joyfully, albeit some are seen wiping off the sweat after savoring one of the signature dish here; Tom Yam!
TOM YAM SEAFOOD SOUP
The tom yam seafood soup came appetizingly yummy and piquant. Soup broth was sweetened up with assorted oceanic treasures such as huge clams, prawns, fish and many more, making it a toothsome pairing with a bowl of white rice.
CRISPY DUCK WITH RED WINE SAUCE
Decently deep-fried coated duck meat that is well marinated with special sauce that give arise to an engaging and chewy texture that really got you hooked on for more effortlessly.
PAPAYA SALAD
Ah, it’s good also to have some light and sourish nosh to clear the palate in the middle perhaps? Julienned juicy papaya that delectably comes with other condiments and also dried shrimp. Would be even better if not too many of the tiny shrimp as it’s bit salty to me then.
GOLDEN PINEAPPLE FRIED RICE
Fell head over heels for this Thai styled fried rice ever since first tasted during the last visit. It’s fluffy and flavourful, each grain is encapsulated with the essential ‘wok hei’ aroma. Love it very much!
THAI YELLOW CURRY SEAFOOD
Another remarkable dish by Thai Syok is this yellow curry which took a slight detour from the usual green curry path. Pleasurably, this plate tasted awesome and scrumptious- with thick, saporous curry and fresh, springy seafood. Couldn’t ask for more but instead savour it yummily.
MANGO STICKY RICE THAI SYOK STYLE
Diners should not leave without trying their signature Thai dessert. Handled differently from the common ones, the rice has undergone several process before finally dished up with the drizzle of luscious coconut milk.

Don't forgot to try out the Thai coffee too!

In a nutshell, Thai Syok has been doing a very good job since day one and the memory of relishing in their varied highlighted dishes has never been a let-down one and still lingering in the mind even till now. So if you are a true fan of Thai cuisine, don’t let Thai Syok slips through your sight and you are bound to be delighted and reassured accordingly.
Cheers and Carpe Diem! ❤ℒℴѵℯ❤
