The Morning After OK Dec 18, 2014

Categories : Western variety | Café | Pizza/Pasta | Steaks / Chops | Burgers / Sandwiches

As everything begins the morning after; we ought to kick off daily with a hearty breakfast and a good cup of coffee to signify another wonderful beginning of our journey. Likewise, this kiosk café, which is relatively new at Pavilion Shopping Mall, offers a fair selection for delish food and beverages within the cozy confine of its humble décor of rustic industrial bric-a-brac.
Touted as one of TMA’s specialties, we decided to go easy on tummy before heading to next session of coffee hopping at Wa Café, done offhandedly btw (=
Chic Rotisserie (MYR 17.90)
Laces of well-marinated roasted chicken strips served atop tomatoes slice and lettuce, before sandwiched between the signature sammie and coupled with some tortilla chips that have been drizzled with some cheese dressing.
Cheesy Turkey Love (MYR 17.90)
Tickling our taste bud next is this turkey ham that supposed to be loaded with cheese as stated in the menu. Similarly, this serving of bagel is accompanied by a side salad and tortilla chips, that just differentiates in its filling. Apparently, this dish is rather subpar and doesn't pull off as good as the former one as I find it quite dry, lacking in taste wise.
Moreover, the kinda bland taste of the tortilla chips(perhaps suits the terribly health conscious folks-pun intended) doesn't help either, and so I request for another helping of the sauce to sort of spice up this dish with the pastry as well.
Personally, I would find my favourite turkey ham more enjoyable if it were to slightly pan-fried to give out that mild crispiness with the alluring smoky aroma that surely enough to make anyone salivate as the scent wafting through the air. Extra minutes of nuking the buttered bagel would taste better overall too if it’s moderately browned. Anyway, it’s just my honest two-cents when the amiable and attentive staff , Mario, ask for the feedback on the food.
Latte (MYR 10.90)
The house signature coffee has a mild palate as TMA uses the blend of Mandheling, Santos and Sigri.
The Sneaky Cheesecake (MYR 12.90)
Fortunately, the dessert somewhat helps to make up the day. It is moist and creamy with a cube of snickers bar on top. However, the biscuit base is tad soggy and I personally prefer to have a contradictory but yet soft crumble-like texture in my cheesecake recipe.
I suppose there are still rooms for improvement for this new café and hopefully, there would be more varieties in its menu offerings especially on the savoury side in the future.

The wave of boutique café has not only swept over the metropolitan of KL, but has also invaded into the radars of urbanites residing in the Pearl of Orient. China House (which I tend to accidentally enunciate as White House-US, lol), is one of the several brands that has sprung up lately, occupying a three-linked compound, at the heritage-rich locale of Beach Street.

Since we are dropping early supper time, we didn’t get to wander around very much actually as some od the sections are closed. Anyhow, am still glad to have a quick run through of the available spaces with the first blueish room being something right up my alley chromatically.

Tiramisu
One of the best sellers over here, with the base sponge being soaked with alcohol; but do not put high expectation on the booze flavor part smile Apart from that, the cake is good and moist, creamy at the same time with the engaging chocolate bites. Indeed something different from the usual Italian dessert which is much denser in milky cream, cocoa powder and coffee liqueur.
Red Wine Pear Cake
As you might have guessed it, I pick this pastry out of the compelling ingredient namesake.
You get to enjoy a spongy, sweet and wettish texture, however, similarly wine aroma is not that apparent as well.
Cranberry Lemon Juice
Chilling and throat-soothing, according to the tiramisu’s prince whose throat apparently has been quite uneasy that night, but luckily, gets mellowed over the lemony zest phew! Obviously another foodie in disguise……………. (=
Caffe Latte
Not forgetting to complement the night of dessert indulgence with a smooth cup of Caffe Latte; freshly brewed from the gorgeous La Cimbali and daintily crafted with rosette art.
A night of laughter shared over a table of great companions of camaraderie!
C’est la vie………..

Another Round of Coffee Affair.. OK May 16, 2014
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Western variety | Café

Ah yes, seems like this is another episode of coffee experience sharing of mine again. I was in the vicinity of Ara Damansara one day after a training session on EQ of Leadership skills.

Prior to this stopover, I have not heard much about this place, Epiphany Coffee & Tobacco, which is rather known for its trademark of fully stocked tobacconist , that offers wide range of Roll-Your-Own (RYO) tobacco products, cigars, snus and other tobacco accessories for its avid enthusiasts. Alright then, let's proceed to the yummy topic!

Caffe Latte
A sip of the coffee has me looking for some brown sugar to strike a balance to it. Personally I feel that the cuppa is overly earthy and thick with its magnificent fuller body taste, as compared to the rest I came across so far, despite the fact that every cuppa served over here comes in double shot dosage. I was then later being told that the Wega was having some issue on that day, so guess it is partially responsible for this indirectly.
Iced Chocolate
It is fine as expected. Pretty normal kind of selection.
Rasberry Cheesecake
Soon the craving for sweet tooth get fixed with the arrival of this cheesy blueberry cake. Somehow or rather, it doesn’t hold much surprise for me as I think the creaminess and milkiness level is just average. Naturally, it doesn’t leave any impactful of memories over here when it comes to enjoying dessert.
Hazelnut Orange Torte
A rich chocolaty cake coupled with crushed hazelnut bites to stimulate your taste bud. Similarly, it appears to me as an average Joe due to the dry sponge cake layers.

Elizabeth Fine Dining, or yeah?

Upon entering the this place, you would firstly be awed by its lavish setting and classy chandeliers. The route leading its way to here itself is already pretty nostalgic with various items on display such as the Big Boss Shanghai Car, sitting just next to Elizabeth Fine Dining.

Environment wise, is quite airy and cosy, though it’s bit packed when crowds are seen. As for the table d'hotes, choices are decently and actually more bewitched by its artistically painted plates! Taste wise, frankly speaking, is just meagre to me, albeit the fact that the concept portrayed is of fine cuisine genre.

Ehm, I guess the best is let the pictures speaks for themselves? tongue

Cheerios…….

TGIF! OK Apr 02, 2014
Categories : Western variety | Restaurant | Steaks / Chops | Seafood | Burgers / Sandwiches

Oh yea, here it comes TGIF! lol

Well, thus far is my maiden step into this food chain, after most of the western visits are primarily dominated by Chillies or Tony Roma’s, hehe.

So guess finally leave a foot print here for some palate testing I suppose.

The Choc Mint milkshake is creamily blended and luckily, not overly sweet. Savory plates of mains are quite normal to me, ranging from the famous Tennesse steak to Lamb and Seafood. But thank god that the Salmon cutlet is juicy and chunkily tender. However, the Tennesse sauce don’t really go well with my oceanic treat which I think some garlic butter sauce would do a better job. Just my two cents’ ^_^
