Double Choc Cry Jul 08, 2013

Categories : Western variety | Sweets/Snack | Bakery / Cake / Kuih

As we are catching a bus back to Penang, we thought of getting something light to bite on while travelling in the bus later. And so, my friend suggest to get some nearby donuts as it’s much easier to be settled lol So the call is on him and he pick mostly all chocolate-themed, haha.

Double Choc

As if the chocolate donut is not chocolatey enough, he opts for the double oomph, where the chocolate donut is further glazed with some milky chocolate ganache on the outside. Perhaps the donuts has been left cold or some time, so it tastes bit hard to me. Therefore, I don’t really find it extraordinary to me compared to have it fresh from the oven.

ABC Cry May 31, 2013   (Related Review)

ABC

We actually wanted to try ABC and also cendol, but were told the latter has been sold out, so ended with two bowls of ABC instead. This bowl of dessert served here came a bit bland, without the stripes of cendol and merely just some beans, corns and syrup alike. It’s bit too sweet to my liking and lack the fragrance of gula Melaka. Quite a let down sad

Mango Lassi Cry May 20, 2013   (Related Review)

Mango Lassi

As for this Mango Lassi, it’s quite ordinary and nothing to boast about. The drink lacks the mango taste it should possess and also not milky enough. Therefore, it lacks the consistency and less concentrated that the same fare I enjoy at other Middle Eastern eatery. There isn’t any hint that original yogurt has been used but rather just candied drink with some mango syrup.

Tandoori Chicken Cry May 20, 2013   (Related Review)

Tandoori Chicken

Come next is the reddish grilled chicken that goes by the name Tandoori Chicken. It’s quite a common dish to be ordered when you tete a tete at any mamak shop. These cutlets of chicken have been earlier marinated with some herbs before chargrilled. The meat is tender and not spicy as its fiery colour. Nevertheless, the taste is quite bland is without the lime, and I suppose the flavor hasn’t really got into the meat thus not as delicious as anticipated.

Chilled Mango Sago & Ice Cream

As for my friend’s preference, he asked for this dessert, Chilled Mango Sago & Ice Cream, which is visually inviting from the menu. But the outcome is a bit of let down.

Presented in a small bowl with a melt-down ice cream which is half-sinking in the dessert, it has definitely deceit its original intention of ‘chilling out’ the mood, by looking at his facial expression, haha. It comes with cubes of mango that are nicely sitting down on the bed with sagos to top it up. They were mixed in a creamy whitish soup, which I suppose is coconut milk. The mangos are sweet luckily, but there are also traces of pamelo pulps to be found within too, but they are slightly bitter, which doesn’t really blend in well with the other fruit. The whole bowl enjoyment is pretty upside down for him I guess, haha. Well, lets just hope the next season, pamelo would be sweeter lol
