T Café

It is my maiden and a wonderful trip to island out of the usual land I would be hanging around. So while on the way to Perhentian island before taking a boat from Kuala Besut jetty, we took some light breakfast first before heading so. The café environment is airy and open air. It is set up with several humble stalls and adequate number of table settings. Quite a number of people could be seen especially Western tourists who I suppose are vacationing at the island similar as mine too lol I think it makes quite a decent café at this small town with good and simple food.

Chee Cheong Fun

At times, you would like to start you morning with some savoury meal but not too heavy. Then I think is good to go with a plate of Chee Cheong Fun then. I always love the silky and smooth texture of the flour skin, paired with some side dishes like bean curb with fish paste. The soya bean product is quite chewy, and I prefer to go with some flavourful sauce like Curry gravy, than the usual black sauce which is of sweeter flavor. Dashes of white sesame also helps to improve the overall flavor apart from some belacan.

Cheesy Wedges Smile Aug 28, 2013   (Related Review)

Cheesy Wedges

I suppose one would never go wrong by ordering this light snack, Cheesy Wedges. The wedges of the potatoes come pleasantly warm and soft. The slight crispy layer on the outside is being flavoured with some pepper, thus making it quite appetizing. Not to be missed surely is the accompanied cheese sauce; Cheddar and Parmesan, alternating between the white and orangy stripes. It is creamy and cheesy adequately. Standard level is met.

Keropok Lekor

After taking a boat ride from Perhentian Island to Kuala Besut Jetty, we decided to head to the town of Kota Bharu before heading back home. It is my first time stepping on this land, although my dad used to there on work purposes lol

Local delights are not the be missed should you want to immerse yourselves with the culture here. And so, we saw a stall selling the familiar snack that we used to eat, Keropok Lekor. Apparently, the keropok lekor here is much bigger size and less floury. It is fried till slightly crispy on the outside while decently soft within. You will still get to taste the fish flavor in this fried fritters.

Wantan Noodle Smile Jul 15, 2013

Wantan Noodle

It’s been sometime since I last went to Kuantan for some short escape from the hustle and bustle of the city in KL, in search for some real homey food. This small peaceful town actually houses quite a lot of local delights that are freshly made, almost without much preservative.

Just like this plate of decent wan tan noodle. Am pretty sure everyone has heard and even tried this common fare at any place. But the difference would be on the types of ingredients they used. In this case, you won’t see any read ‘char siew’, but instead got replaced with flavorful braised meat and mushroom slices, chicken slices, fish cakes, dumplings and vegetables. The dumplings are bit bland, so you better pair it with the pickled green chillies for some kick. Nevertheless, the dumpling skin is very silky smooth! One things to highlight is that the mushroom slices are really nicely marinated with all the sauces and thus, very delish to the tastebud. Love it!
