Ramen

The Ramen finally arrives to our gnawing stomach. Comes in steaming hot is the clear soup which is infused with the fragrance of shoyu. Bathing inside it are a variety of delectable ingredients like the bamboo shoot, fish cake, beans sprouts- perhaps some local influence, boiled egg, tender chicken meat and some sprinkles of chopped parsley. Noodles are springy and done medium hard. As for the egg, I suppose the enjoyment would be better if it is substituted with Onsen Tomago, for I always enjoy the gooey egg yolk.

Gyoza  Smile Aug 21, 2013   (Related Review)

Gyoza

Another common snack of Japanese cuisine would be this Gyoza, a.k.a fried dumpling. This variety comes with a filling of minced chicken and vegetables. They are solid and chewy in texture, but somehow rather bland if not added with soya sauce. Dumpling skin is of acceptable thickness and not too oily. If some chopped parsley are added more into the filling, I think it would have been a better overall flavor.

Fried Seafood Maki

Should your tummy has been drumming while waiting for the meal to arrive, you may help yourself with one of the place form the conveyer belt; Fried Seafood Maki. It is pretty unpredictable of what it contains in the inside for there is no specific menu being put on. Only after one bite did I realize that the maki is actually wrapping prawns and also octopus, alongside the cucumber, lettuce and seaweed wrap. It is quite tangy but not crispy as you might thought lol

Chawanmushi

As a hors d’ oeuvres, it certainly has done a great job in warming up the tummy. The egg is well beaten and steamed under controlled heat for a specific time thus creating a smooth and velvety layer. Bubbles are not visible thus reflects the skillful preparation of this appetizer. Coupled with slice of shitake and fishcake, makes it a good and light pre course lol

Azuma Japanese Restaurant Smile Aug 21, 2013

Azuma Japanese Restaurant

In fact, it is not really my forte to dine at Japanese restaurant when am in the land of hawker food haven lol But of course, once awhile diverging from my usual epicurean compass might be a good thing too- get to explore more stuff!

And so, my friend brought me to this chic restaurant to have some grasp of the cuisine. The moment you walk in, you would be greeted amiably by its helpful staff that directs you to a comfy couch. From here you have sip of some hot green tea before the food is being served. While waiting for your orders to arrive, you may choose from the sushi conveyor belt to pick some of your favourite sushi, while enjoying the cozy ambiance.
