Mizi Bistro has always been a special cafe to me. It's conducive environment with amiable restaurant owners, makes me coming back for more! And fyi, this is the second outlet am visiting. Apart from their delectable spread of cuisines, their price are really affordable and i can say that they are one of the best in town! Even though I'll be in KL most of the time, I would still be craving for their food every now and then, thus definitely would make a trip to any of their 3 outlets in whenever am back in Penangsmile

After some of the food pictures, am sure you know why am coming back again for SURE! ^^

New Dragon Phoenix Restaurant does meet the prerequisite of a good hawker centre. Situated at the amiable busy town of Ayer Itam, it offers patrons varieties of food that could be ranging from vegetarian food, dim sum, hokkien mee and also curry mee.

Tucked at one of the corner is this stall selling flavorful Curry Noodle. I was initially captivated by its whitish soup, for normally we would see curry noodle come in reddish soup with some chilly oil. Not only that, the side dishes were pretty unique as compared to normal Curry Noodle we find at other place. They have the solidified pork blood cubes, which is claimed would help enhanced the sweetness of the curry gravy when taken together. And indeed it was true, according to my friend, as am still not up to par to try out this exotic pairing, haha… lol

Apart from that, the “tau fu pok” a.k.a fried bean curb, was nice and soft. It’s spongy and tends to absorb the curry gravy as you savour it with the vermicelli and noodle. Your mouth was then filled with the aromatic gravy as well as the mint leaves fragrance that are added together. Plus, the sambal was pretty awesome too as it’s not too spicy! Yummy! ^^

Besides the myriad of dim sum selections, one gets to find scrumptious Yong Tau Fu at Town Steamboat Restaurant too. It reminds me of the same fare I had at Seri Kembangan in KL, and I think Penang’s one is taste better! Hehe.. Anyway, just my two cents ya! ^^

The vegetables that you can choose from are like bitter gourd, brinjal, lady’s fingers, chilies and many more. They are stuffed with fresh fish paste which is chewy and sweet! I personally favor the stuffed bean curd as the gourd itself is not bitter^^.

As for those with sweet tooth, they can have a hand at this Fried Mini Lotus Sesame. Not only it’s crispy on the outside and not oily, it also has the soft inner texture that goes along really well with the lotus paste. When eaten hot, the paste is like melting in your mouth but at the same time, having a different texture of munching the fragrant white sesame layer. It’s so aromatic then even a petite person can finish them all at one go! ^^

Having sharing all the little morsels, one can ask for their noodles selection should you looking for something filling. For instance, you could have this Yi Fu Noodle. Am not sure how it’s called in English, but basically it’s a noodle dish woofed up in a combination of vermicelli and noodle. Trust me, this is real good! The different texture of noodle thickness gives out a various level of enjoyment. Springy as they are, and so flavorful since they are stir fried in thick savoury gravy, which is delectable to the taste bud. And I believe one of the best contributor was there were these fried mini lard cubes, which are crispy and aromatic. The accompanied side ingredients were great too! You can find fresh greens, cutlets of chicken, fish and pork topped with fried garlic as well.

In addition, you may also love this Cantonese Fried Yee Mee. This dish is drier compared to Yi Fu noodle as the noodle has been deep fried beforehand and there tossed with some thick gravy on it. It comes with generous portion of seafood like fish, prawns and squids. The prawns were exceptionally fresh and succulent, and I just loving it! Slurps………….. ^^

Feel guilty after some sinful but enjoyable meal? Fret not! Let’s cool it down with some Pu Er tea perhaps? ^^

Albeit this is a steamboat restaurant, but am coming for their dim sum spreads! Hehe..This restaurant is serving steamboat at night, but during the daytime, they sell various yummy Dim Sum for many Penangites to start the day! Hold up your saliva as I drill down the pictures of the yummies with you guystongue

After Zim Sum Restaurant, this would be another favourite place of mine as far as Dim Sum is concerned. As usual, Town Steamboat Restaurant is very packed in the morning. Therefore, you would need to get a place fast as well as your preferred dim sum quickly too. Else, you gotta wait for the next round of baking or sold out, if you come too late.

For me, one of the must haves is their freshly baked Egg Tart. Trust me, you hardly find such a delicious tart even in KL, or not that I know of. The tart was flaky and fluffy. And I truly enjoyed the egg custard which is very smooth and silky. I can finish up to 3 by myself, hehe. Just can’t get enough of it!

Next would be this Shanghai Dumpling. From the exterior, it resembles those dumpling you normally have at Chinese Restaurant. Much more with the delicate wooden tray! But, the selling point for this dim sum lies in its filling. It is very solid and meaty, plus, thoroughly marinated. Thus, it is best eaten with ginger soaked in vinegar. Just that you might find the skin a little thicker. Other than that, should be fine ^^.

Him Heang Tau Sa Pia Smile Jul 15, 2013

Him Heang Tau Sa Pia

This is my favourite ‘tau sa pia’ biscuit brand in Penang. I have been eating this since younger days during my very first visit and until now. This time round gotta thanks to my ‘Garfield’ friend who happen to be in town during the weekend on business trip, who brought along my favourite. YUmm…

The biscuits are rounded in shape and very fresh indeed! You know it the moment you bite on it and you could feel the pastry skin is so fluffy and fragrant. They are made of wheat flour, sugar, green beans, fried onions, vegetables oil and salt. The filling which consists of finely minced green beans till bit of powdery form, is very smooth and addictive. It’s good that this time round I don’t see huge and annoying chunky traces of fried onions in it. So I truly enjoy it from the bottom of my heart.
