Teh-O Ice

A cooling humble beverage of this, Ice Lemon Tea, does come welcomingly especially on a bright sunny day. Mixed with the right amount of tea and lime sourness in ice, it does make a good companion to complete a simple meal. It is just that I wish I have requested my drink to be less syrup for I find it a tad too sweet to my liking. Anyway, I find it better after I diluted it with some of mineral water that I have brought along

Enjoying a cuppa throughout the day at any coffee shop in Penang is just a cliché sight enjoying some leisure moments Same goes to here at Kafe Sheng Yuan.Normally I would prefer a homemade soya bean drink. Since it was not available on that day, I just settle down with chrysanthemum tea then, so long it’s not commercially packed It was in house boiled tea or ‘leong cha’. However, the taste wasn’t as fragrant as my mom used to boil. It lacked the flowers fragrance and purely yellowish drink. Lucky thing was that it wasn’t too sweet, so that’s still acceptable. Having said that, I believe the usual authentic chrysanthemum tea should hold a lighter tone color.As for my dad, a good cup of Kopi-O is his most tantalizing drink to start it off, haha. I still yet to learn how to best enjoy the drink still ^^. The coffee was served in a traditional cup but without a saucer plate, wondering where had it gone. The reason why is called ‘O’ , is that the drink is mixed with sugar instead of milk. Thus, you get to taste some hint of bitterness amongst some mild sweetness of it. Guess that simply his preference of pure enjoyment

Missing some local Penang food after some few months away from this town of food haven? Fret not as you could easily either drive down or take a bus at your own comfort to reach this state, but best at off peak season. That surely ensure you a pleasant foodie getaway from those crowded tourist.

I always enjoy Penang’s version of Prawn Mee, for its irreplaceable sweet prawn-based soup. It is very intense and thick. Usually it would be paired with slices of hard-boiled egg, some thinly sliced fresh prawn meat with springy noodles and vermicelli. For soup preference, I always love to go with ‘lo cham teng’ ^_^

Soft Shell Crab Jyu with Rice

Finally, my very first encounter with soft shell crab indulgence. Am still a bit skeptical at first whether to really bite on the shell or would I regret it later Anyway, after testing the first bite, the shell seems alright, just need few extra chewing I suppose, hehe. The shell is actually quite chewy with its unexpected solid filling of the crab meat. It is quite tangy and juicy at the same time too, and that makes me wonder am I really eating a crab of rather crabmeat fritters. Nonetheless, it is quite a pleasant experience too.

Blackforest Fruit Cocktail

Other than the usual Western dining over here at Winter Warmers Coffee and Tea House, you could actually drop by for their loose flower tea too. You could then boil, simmer and enjoy your tea time at your own leisure. For this Blackforest Fruit Cocktail, it has a very smooth and fruity aroma. The blend is made up of varieties of berries includes blackberries, rose hips and hibiscus. You would need simmer the flower buds in hot water for about 3 minutes, before serving it. It is very relaxing too as you inhale the floral fragrance! ^_^
