Categories : Malaysian variety | Western variety | Café | Seafood | Noodles

Set forth with a chic and sleek interior, U-Café offers a Eastern-Western marriage, where you enjoy a delectable yet mouth-watering range of tasty rendition ranging from local favorites to cross Pan-Asian fusion such as Flying Fish Pineapple Fried Rice, Soft Shell Crab Pasta, Fried Koay Teow and many more.
Among the delicious spread of cold plates that were gorgeously dressed up in sparkling margarita glasses alongside other savoury dishes are Combo Platter, Deconstructed Caesar Salad, Deep Fried Salmon With Green Mango Salad , Spaghetti Aglio Olio With Sea Scallop, Pineapple Seafood Fried Rice, Vegetarian Bean Curd Rice, Flying Fish Rice With Soy Sauce, Penang Curry Laksa and many more. All of which are memorable to me are Pineapple Seafood Fried Rice, Penang Curry Laksa.
A fusion of east-meets-west and decently well-orchestrated selection of inventive recipes.
With an emphasis on ingredient freshness and friendly services, U-Café strives to give you their best hospitality and caters only the best food to your table. The new menu would greet the public this April onwards. So check it out!

MORELLI'S GELATO @ BSC Smile Mar 27, 2015
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Stall / Warung | Ice Cream / Froyo / Gelato

Brought upon to pamper the discerning taste buds of yours, Morelli’s Gelato with history dated back to Italy has been amusing folks of Bangsar especially, over a year ago with its moreish array of homemade gelato and sorbet.

Morelli’s Gelato is essentially milk-based and traditionally made fresh daily on-site (as attested by Kiosk Manager, Mr. Edgar) which results in a soft and velvety texture with a richer consistency(trust me, they’re really superb that you gonna ask for second helping!).

So without further ado, let’s have a quick run-down of what you could expect here, from winsome assorted sundaes to caffeine fix for the coffee lovers out there. While the ice cream recipes hails from Italy, the coffee beans are sourced from South Africa coffee estate, owned by and house-roasted by the Morelli family.
MORELLI’S BACIO
Chocolate, hazelnut and soft vanilla gelato served with a chocolate truffle, Piemonte hazelnuts, swirls of Magnum chocolate and hazelnut sauce in a chocolate cup, wafer biscuits and fresh whipped cream.
BAILEY’S
Hazelnut and soft vanilla gelato topped with chocolate sauce, fresh whipped cream abd a single shot of Bailey’s liqueur in a chocolate cup.

BANANA ROYALE
Banana, caramel ‘dulce de leche’ and soft vanilla gelato served with caramel ‘dulce de leche’ sauce in a chocolate cup, banana and fresh whipped cream.
Berry Pavlova Sundae
Wildberry sorbet, strawberry, fruit yogurt of the day and soft vanilla gelato served with raspberry coulis, meringues, drizzled with Magnum chocolate, a selection of seasonal berries, and fresh whipped cream.

SALTED CARAMEL AFFOGATO (MYR 13)
Espresso served with inhouse gelato. Vanilla gelato is by default, but of course you could seek for other flavours, in this case, I heed the recommendation by Mr Edgar. True enough, the marriage of bitter-sweetness somehow able to strike a balance; resulting is a creamier texture with some hint of saltiness after taste.

The violet-hued kiosk certainly serves up a range of ambrosial gelato, soft gelato, sorbets, frozen yoghurt, tiny treats and delicious delicacies to take away. You'll locate it easily on the ground floor, centre of the mall by the drop off point.

Much have been said or seen in this current wave of café burgeoning trend that captures the heart of many coffee aficionados as well as dessert lovers particularly. But have you come across a dessert fusion café that allows sweet tooth to bask in their faves gleefully without being much guilt-ridden of the calories nor any artificial preservatives yet palatably reassuring? Then Wichday Cafe is one new establishment that you should check out especially if you are also a huge fan of toastie and waffle for all the ingredients are made from scratch, enchanted with some secret recipes too.
This beautiful café is the brainchild of two lovely sisters that aims to provide a gemütlich avenue for its guests to indulge joyfully with awesome and honest grubs. And by the way, the café is also children-friendly, so both parents and kids will find themselves relishing gayly with sweet treats and also mouth-watering dishes like pasta and many more.
Upon entering the dainty café, guests are instantly greeted with a gush of vibrant aura that is also ‘bewiching’ with the lively green theme (=
NUTELLA PEANUT TOAST (MYR 12.90)
As its name suggests, this toast comes with the alluring nutella alongside peanut cream, served with a dollop of house-beaten cream and also a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
GREEN LAVA (MYR 12.90)
Up for a modern way of enjoying your nostalgic kaya? Yeah, it’s really the housemade kaya albeit it may fools you into thinking it as green tea instead, hehe.
MR. YELLOW (MYR 11.90)
Fans of banana and pancake could rejoice indulgently as they meet Mr. Yellow- Cutesy mini pancakes served with banana, maple syrup and vanilla ice cream. Pillowy flannel cake always find its way with any fruity companion-in this case, the potassium-rich source; banana. You can never go wrong with this combination.
TOFU SALAD (MYR 8.90)
An ingenious twist to your otherwise mundane salad.

Another spectacular dish from the kitchen of Wichday Cafe.
Deliciously served with clams and salted egg crumbles that perfectly match well with the peppered, light cream sauce and smidgens of chopped bird's eyes chilies. It can be quite tongue-challenging at some point, but still get me hooked on it for more. Recommended plate, ma ma mia!
CARBONARA SPAGHETTI (MYR 12.90)
Or for those who prefer its creamy pasta simple and frills-free, then go for this gratifying serving of spaghetti, thoroughly covered with cream sauce together with chicken ham, oyster mushroom and the cheeky ebiko atop!

Udon Ya San Smile Dec 20, 2014
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Ramen/Udon/Soba

Having been in operation for just 3 months now, Udon-Ya San has been getting affirmative feedbacks from foodies around who have tasted it and is bound to persuade your palate over with its freshly handmade udon. This place also reminds me of another warm neighbourfood udon house; Sanuki Udon (=
The menu at Udon-Ya San is pretty simple and straight forward, nothing complicated to confuse your taste buds, but would certainly amuse you with its decent line-up of their homemade udon noodles and side dishes. Those comfort food are set at a truly affordable price, hence definitely appears welcoming to any udon lover.
We first quench our thirst with these refreshing citrusy drinks. I personally enjoy the passion fruit juice more for that teeny sour-sweetness kick it brings.
Soon, the night kicks off with the awaited goodish fares to fill your starving tummy (=
Tsukimi Udon Soup
These silky udon noodles are liberally served in a bowl of hearty kakejiru, topped off gleefully with a handful agedama sprinkles. The bonito soup base is already a joy by itself for it has been thoroughly simmered to get that flavourful broth. Simple but yet deeply satisfying. Also famously known as the "Moon Viewing Udon" back in Land of the Rising Sun.
Tsukimi Udon Dry (MYR 7)
Opposing to the kake udon that comes in dashi broth, this bowl of slurpy strips are mildly flavoured with shoyu and mirin; one of the Japanese staple condiment, before greeting the diners with some helping of wakame (my fav!), chopped scallions, toothsome onsen egg and dashes of light tenkasu. The mirin actually helps to heighten up the flavor by striking a balance between salty-sweetness with a hint of fruity acidity. It’s actually quite appetizing in fact.
Some house-blend chilli paste for some extra spicy thrill!
Curry Udon (MYR 8)
Here comes the kare raisu that is so synonymous with our Japanese folks. Widely consumed with softly-cooked soft carrots, sweet onions and generous portion of fragrant scallions too in the savoury curry of lighter tone, thus less spicy compared to its other Asian types. This particular gravy has been tastefully enhanced with spiced sweetness by its passionate Chef Anson Leong.
Mentaiko Udon (MYR 14)
One of the best highlight in this review session. A bowl of Japanese wheat noodle, with each strand coated gracefully with inhouse cream recipe, splendidly elaborated with bounteous mentaiko. This marinated cod fish roe allows you to bask in the lusciousness of each roe gently dancing and popping in your mouth, and before you realize, your gustatory sense has been well pampered with oceanic wonders. Ah, hard to put into words here but you just got to try it out yourselves.
Carbonara Udon (MYR 9)
Another noteworthy dish that involves tedious effort behind. This Western meets Japanese culinary infusion is dished out with its inhouse cured pork slices or otherwise more familiarly known as pancetta, served atop the homemade udon and spiced up with some oregano herbs. Both aroma and taste wise are very convincing, accompanied by the chewy and tender pan fried meat that contributes tad brininess.
Salad Udon (MYR 8)
It kind of blows my mind when I first learn that the udon is part of this salad bowl. Unlike the conventional green salad, this udon proves to be equally palatably promising for the freshness that comes with this chilled recipe. Love the crispiness and freshness of the salad combination that render more zest to it. According to Michael Wong (Manager of Udon-Ya San), this seemingly unpretentious bowl is also currently making wave at any convenience stores in Japan.
Tonkatsu (MYR 6)
For this tender meat, premium panko is used for that memorable bites! This Japanese breadcrumb coating literally melts when you pop it into your mouth even you have yet to sink your teeth in it. Only later got enlightened by the amiable chef who says that these panko came fresh and frozenly imported to retain that light and pillowy fluffy melt-in-your mouth texture. Skeptical? Try it out! (=
In a nutshell, this classic Japanese dish remains popular in many places of the world and current diversified taste bud fad has even given these noodles a great fresher lives with various inventive fusion recipes created for it to cater the gourmands. Glad to know that now you don’t have to travel all the way to the Japan to appreciate these authentic homemade udon that effortlessly warms the soul, but just head over here one of these days to try it out yourselves ( =
Udon-Ya San is located at Pandan Indah, opposite Old Town White Coffee that is also in the vicinity of Cempaka LRT. Therefore, you can look forward to filling your bellies with affordable and unpretentious bowls of homemade udon noodles!
