D’Dream Café OK Oct 13, 2013

You gotta be kidding!

That’s what I literally uttered the moment stepping into this Doraemon-invaded café. It is such an unbelievable sight to see the whole family of this childhood cartoon sitting handsomely in the shiny glass cabinet. Not to mention those soft plushy toys version that have been under good hand all this while, that are nicely arranged at some section of the place. The owner of these Doraemon memorabilia is none other than Nicholas, who has been an avid collector since he was 9 years old! Imagine all the invaluable series that are under his belt till now. It’s definitely a unique collectible to behold.

Having said that, don’t be misled that you gonna get your craving for Dorayaki fixed over here, for the jaunty Nicholas is going to tantalize your palate with some delectable Taiwanese cuisine, with the culinary skills acquired from his sister in law, who actually hails from Taiwan itself. Most of the ingredients are sought from Taiwan and every dish is only prepared upon ordering. This explains why the café is said to only welcome diners that have made prior reservation, so as to ensure a flawless epicurean moment. Anyway, walk in customers are still accepted occasionally, if condition allows and they don’t mind to wait awhile as all the food are freshly cooked rather than reheat. Therefore, rest assured that the quality of carte du jours served here are highly emphasized.

Cheese-baked Scallop OK Oct 06, 2013   (Related Review)

Cheese-baked Scallop

When it comes to cheese food, am quite a big fan of it and naturally has a certain level of expectation for this delish enjoyment. Unfortunately, this plate of Cheese-baked Scallop actually fares quite mediocre. It is rather bland though the scallop is covered with the melted cheese. The pieces of onions actually doesn’t help much in this case, unless they are being slightly caramelized, then it would somehow improve the overall flavor, which otherwise, the whole dish is actually quite dry and disassociated as a whole.

Seafood Porridge  OK Oct 06, 2013   (Related Review)

Seafood Porridge

This menu of Healthy Eating category does come ironically with its presentation tongue Yea, the Seafood Porridge is dished out in a bowl that resembles the toilet undeniably lol But being a well-trained and adventuresome foodie so called, this doesn’t affect me much, lol. It is actually a bowl of congee that paired with side dishes like fried fish fillet, crab filaments and some julienned gingers alongside some aromatic chopped spring onions. I would say it is just a normal congee, except that with a innovative and daring serving idea lol

T-Bowl_Sungai Wang OK Oct 06, 2013

T-Bowl_Sungai Wang

This T-Bowl café is definitely one of its kind and surely won’t gain much approval from the elderly, haha. Themed as toilet bowl and you would literally find the surrounding décor is based on this idea cheekily, no joke! This idea is said to be hailed from Taiwan and slowly got accepted by the young and adventurous folks here. Even the food design is also revolving all the stuff you could see in the restroom and some pattern could actually pose a challenge to your appetite visually. So just close your eyes and eat it! tongue

Char Siew Pau OK Oct 06, 2013   (Related Review)

Char Siew Pau

Next I got this vegetarian Char Siew Pau upon hearing a positive feedback from a frequent patron. From the exterior, it does seem like any ordinary pau available out there, except that it might look bit yellowish, as if they are made of wheat germ flour. Bun is soft and nicely encasing a generous portion of char siew. The char siew is decently marinated with its condiments as well as drenches with some white sesame to bring up the flavor. The filling is not too dry not too watery. It does makes a lighter type of pau compared to the usual meaty one.
