Poh Lam Laksa @ Chong Choon Cafe Smile Jan 22, 2014

Finally, I get to taste the famous and original Sarawak Laksa at the very own peaceful town of Kuching. It definitely distinct itself from the Penang’s version which is using Lemak, but nevertheless, remains delicious on its own. The vermicelli used is much springier as it is sourced from China, according to the owner whom himself also hails from the metropolis. As for the soup base, it is very flavourful with tinge of prawns taste, which somehow does call for the shadow of Penang Hokkien Mee, but in this case, the soup is less starchy and is light brownish. But nonetheless, the prawns are reasonably fresh.

But nonetheless, the prawns are juicy and delectably fresh.

Calling for a glass of soya bean at coffee shop reminds me of my usual order when having breakfast in Penang smile

Usually I would prefer to have it chilled but without ice. That way it enables me to enjoy the original taste of a good, fresh soya drink. Similarly over here, the drink is not too sweet, adequately enriched with soya bean aroma and considered quite a good drink to kick off your day healthily.

Or you still could go for the typical choice, coffee! ^_^

Char Koay @ Swee Kang Ais Kacang OK Jan 21, 2014

Now that it was another far surprise that we found here, Char Koay or widely known to West Malaysian as Fried Radish Cake. Ingredients used are more or less the same like egg, bean sprouts and rice cake, just that it differed in the way it was dished out. At one glance it could be mistaken as Fried Oyster instead as that was what I usually seen back in Penang, lol. Alright, taste wise I would still rate normal as I found it still lack of ‘wok hei’ lol

You could also find Rojak served at this local restaurant too. But of course, no way to be compared to those in Penang or Kuala Lumpur for the ingredients used were slightly different in a way of two. Sauce used was less pungent, didn’t looks like prawn paste, perhaps it was inhouse made. Fruits wise, you would find u cubes of pineapples, cucumber, fried fritters and bean curd, lesser varieties that I have seen so far. I guess it was another so-so dish to me .

ABC @ Swee Kang Ais Kacang OK Jan 21, 2014

It was my first trip to actually leaved my footprint in Kuching, Sarawak.

Thanks to a local buddy of my friend who brought us to this humble restaurant who seems to be patronized by lots of youngster staying in the vicinity.

We kicked off with the famous dessert served here, special ABC. From its simple presentation, it could be better took off as cendol due to the blandness of shaved ice. But hidden at the bottom of the ice bed was actually some mixture like sweet corns, jellies and some dices of watermelon surprisingly! Haha….. Overall, I think it was quite a normal dessert but unique to this town.
