Zesty fare @ Epicuro! Smile May 29, 2014

Categories : Western variety | Café | Pizza/Pasta | Steaks / Chops | Burgers / Sandwiches

Nestled at one of the bustling F&B spot at Damansara Uptown, lies this modestly set up cafe, Epicuro, which is attention catching with its bold contrast of yellow and black theme, yet against its unassuming dégagé vibes.

First up to warm up the dinner mood is my obligatory Caffe Latte whenever visiting any coffee house. The coffee holds a consistent aroma which is rather full-bodied and pleasantly engaging.

Or if you have had enough supply of caffeine boost for the day, then this glass of thirst-quenching ; Iced Passionfruit Lemon (MYR 4.90) would be good too. Simply citrusy and refreshing.

Balsamic Glazed Pork Ribs
This plate comes with a succulent and tender grilled pork ribs with a balsamic glaze served with fries and coleslaw.
The meat is delectably juicy amidst the mild sweetness of honey glaze and perfectly marinated thoroughly, albeit there is some hit-and-miss part where the larger ribs meat is rather too chewy and hard for the cutleries. Nonetheless, we still enjoy the fare very much for the tantalizing taste it showcases

Next up is the Conchiglie in Spinach Cream
Shell-shaped pasta dished up in a spinach cream sauce with bacon bits and toasted sunflower seeds.
Pasta is done al dente, generously spread with handsome amount of voluptuous bacons and sprinkled with lovesome dosage of grated cheese, accompanied by the special sauce which is made from pureed spinach, garlic and onion.

Yum yum.........a perfect way to complete the night!

Donuts indulgence @ J.Co & Donuts Smile Mar 20, 2014
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Indonesian | Café | Desserts | Coffee | Private Party

Gone are the days where enjoying doughnuts were quite a mundane tea time. But it’s no longer the case here as you could expect more whimsy ideas that come with this seemingly ubiquitous bakery at J.Co Donuts & Coffee, Pavillion KL.

One of the many highlights here would be the Caffe Avocado, which would be launched very soon on this coming 24th March 2014. It pampers your palate with a hint of refreshing green, amidst the slightly sweet and smooth finish. It is subtle yet complex but at the same time, plays well with other ingredients such as dark chocolate and cappuccino in this case.

What’s the best companion for this luscious blended beverage other than the fruit itself? And we have the Avocado Dicaprio- adequately coated avocado cream donuts, with some sprinkles of dark chocolate on the ring.

Or still a coffee person? Then Mocha Espresso Frappe would do the trick!

For the suggested complementary candidate for this cuppa, it is perfect to go along with Forest Glam, a.k.a Black Forest donut!

J. Club Cheezy Rich, would liven up any cheese aficionados especially, with me being one of them! : )

If these might appear bit sinful to the small eaters, then perhaps getting some mini bites would be the better deal? Consider the J. Pops Baby Donuts which is available in 24 pieces at just a retail price of MYR 18 per box. You could mix and match them from 12 varieties adorably.

Not forgetting their superbly vivacious J. Cool Yogurt! . It has the similar pleasing velvety texture that comes with the unmistakably citrusy sourness that is very light to your palate. When tops up with some peach dices, it makes a very appealing combination that you would be craving scoops after scoops.

Delish Dim Sum in town Smile Mar 05, 2014

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Dim sum | Sweets/Snack | Yong Tau Fu

Over here at G- YiTang Hong Kong Dim Sum, you actually have plenty of choices as you get to savour their menu from the baked, fried and steamed series. The best part is, sometimes, you would be surprised by the impromptu new dim sum creation by their very own kitchen master, Chef Yew. The inspiration would just strike him suddenly and then this affable and down to earth chef, could actually create the new dish almost instantly. And that is why you might not be able to look for the dish in their existing menu in the first place. Call it speedy innovation or whatsoever manner you put it, but one thing for sure, those delights are just awesome and tantalizing! Especially their tangy prawns which are very fresh, huge and juicy! You really gotta try that out smile

Scrumptious Korean Dakgalbi  Smile Feb 25, 2014
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Korean | Restaurant | Halal

Anyeonghaseyo!

Hearing Dakgalbi again reminds me of the wonderful moment I had at Chuncheon Dakgalbi, when waiting for the water cab to go over Naomi. But good news is I have no longer need to endure the longing for the scrumptiously and authentically Korean grilled chicken for I have found one of the best place in town; Mr Dakgalbi.

This second outlet which branches out from the first one in Solaris Mont Kiara, is being spearheaded by Mr An, or fondly known as Mr.John, the CEO of Mr Dakgalbi.

Personally, I think that it serves one of the best Korean Grilled Chicken with Teppan Fried Rice in town. I have tried once at another eatery, spreaded by words of mouth at Solaris Mont Kiara, but it was less enjoyable compared to Mr. Dakgalbi. At here, other than you would be served by the efficient crews when it comes to cooking, I find that the chicken meat is especially tender and skillfully marinated.

The restaurant has a very gleeful vibes that spices up your mood upon entering the vibrant place. Everything is in a spick and span manner, with catchy graphical wallpapers.

There is even a scoreboard-cum-hall of fame, for the famous Running Man program. Bet those autographed memento by the respective icons are enough to arouse enviousness in any Hangeul fans here smile

While waiting for the food to arrive, we are served with Iced Lemon Tea to first quench our thirst.

Soon, the long awaited main dish makes its appearance, Family Set Dakgalbi. It is ideal for a family of four as the serving actually consists of 1.2 kg of chicken meat, to be cooked with the rest of the ingredients such as potatoes, cabbage, onions, leek, tteokbokki (Korean rice cakes) and spring onion.

Everything is kept to the most hygienic and as comfortable as possible during the grilling process, with the hollow cylindrical metal covering the big pan from splashing some oil to the diners. Now you know why I would rate this higher than the other restaurant I went before.

As usual, any Korean dishes wouldn’t be complete without Kimchi and also the pickled radish.

The mixed vegetables has also zested up the dish further with the delightful crispness they bring along. But the main star stealer still belongs to the juicy chicken meat that is thoroughly marinated which leaves them flavourful and succulently addictive.

After some cooking, still have some left over? Fret not as this is the superb time to add in the side dishes, which are fried rice with its specially inhouse concocted sauce, stir fried with cheese! Yes, you heard me right! This is the uniqueness over here with the teppan rice and I love it dearly! Compared to Cheesy Raboki, I prefer this way of stirring it up with the extra dakgalbi. Eventually, this assimilation resulted in a much more saporous dish that is not too cheesy but blends in pretty well with the Korean spice. Nyummm!

Apart from the specialty signature dish, you could also whet your palate with one of their Side Menu, Jaengban Guksu, which is nice for 2 to 3 pax.

It is a type of noodles that are usually served chilled by our Korean chingu, together with varieties of hearty vegetables in tangy sauce of gochujang and some gyeoja (mustard powder) to bring up the flavor.

It is definitely another joyful gastronomic night that I believe another return would be not long away.

Jalmeogeotsseumnida, gamsahamnida !!

Abalone Slice Taufu Smile Sep 19, 2013   (Related Review)

Abalone Slice Taufu

Another dish that got me enticed further is the Abalone Slice Taufu by YuYi bak Kut Teh. At one glance, one might mistaken it as any Szechuan style of soupy dish, with its starchy dressing on the top. Later do we find out from the owner that it is actually a dish that combine their freshly inhouse made bean curd with assorted vegetables like sliced mushroom, sea asparagus, carrot, siu pak choy and some sprinkles of Shaoxing wine for some alluring aroma. Seriously, the toufu is really, really silky and velvety! Almost akin to the smooth surface of those egg tart’s filling which is very authentic and mouthwatering. Well recommended when you come over here to dine. Slurps!
