Dry Curry Noodle  OK Oct 31, 2013
Categories : Chinese | Kopitiam

It is one of the usual lunch hour but with a hungrier tummy on that day lol Thus, I plan to have something much heavier to as to fill up my growling tummy satisfactorily. The idea of Dry Curry Noodle comes invitingly as I have not been savoring this fare for quite some time already. Good to know that we can have the dry version over here at Imbi. The noodle used is pretty common as those yellow mee that you would see elsewhere, but with less alkaline taste which comes as a good news to me. The plate of noodle is then garnished with assorted savoury stuffed fishcakes and bean curds that have been boiled earlier on and are thus, thoroughly infused with the curry gravy. The whole fare is then drenched with some curry soup before served with inhouse sambal which is quite delish and not too spicy. Overall, it could be quite oily but nevertheless, still remains as a humble and delectable simple dish.

CBTL Earl Grey Tea  OK Oct 29, 2013

Earl Grey Tea

Other than the usual coffee cuppa that you can get from here, why not take a sip from some hot and nice tea such as Earl Grey Tea once awhile? It really helps to boost better health and one of the benefits is to cleanse away excess oil especially after a hearty meaty fare. Undeniably, the taste of tea is much milder and not as rich as compared to its coffee compatriots, but remains one of the most famous rightfully distinctive teas in the world. It is highly consumed either for the health benefits or just some high tea companion. The subtleness of the tea derives its unique flavor from oil of Bergamot, that helps to rejuvenate you in a way. You may enjoy it black or with milk lol

D Little Pastries OK Oct 29, 2013

D Little Pastries

This little bright café with orangey hue has successfully tempted me to go in for a round of ‘pastry screening’ for the curiosity gets the better of me as I can’t recall if I have seen this shop here before. True enough, according to its Sales Manager, Ms Tes Palma who hails from Philipines, the bakeries has just opened barely 3 months ago and all the pastries are freshly homemade by her brother in law. It is already a bonus to be able to find some homey bakery here and thus, decided to grab a few to taste. They do have a decent array of breads and cakes sold at affordable price. Rather than the usual Carrot Cake, eventually I decided to go with Hummingbird for a different gastronomical adventure lol By the way, it also happens to be the favourite of Ms Tes too.

Hummingbird

As attractive as its name suggests, this cakes comes pleasantly with a fluffy and spongy texture. The top is being sprinkled with generous crispy flakes of grated coconut and I also get to whet my palate with assorted zesty ingredients like walnuts bites, mashed bananas, crushed canned pineapple and cream cheese frosting. Overall, I enjoy the subtle aroma of the added cinnamon and would be better if less leavening agent is used for the cake base tends to disintegrate pretty easily. I actually prefer a more solid type but still remain chewy. Quite a nice attempt and would recommend this should you have gone bored with the ubiquitous Carrot Cake. Am already a happy girl whenever cheese is part of my dessert, no complain lol Slurps!

Chocolate Brownies

There is nothing quite gratifying than like enjoying a piece of fudgy, dense chocolate brownie for an evening tea time lol Many variations on the classic chocolate brownie that you can find nowadays, so it very much depends on your own taste bud. As for this brownies from D Little Pastries , it is of much chewier and more moist texture as compare d to the common ones which could be tad rocky. For instance, the same dessert bites from The Loaf is chunkier with assorted nuts added to it, thus giving a rise to different enjoyment. This version comparatively, is softer in the sense that it is more like a compressed chocolate cake that allows you to enjoy a spongier cake with the top is doused with a thin layer of crystalized chocolate ganache, and sprinkled with some nutty bites. Not too sweet and is quite decent.

Bouncy Golden Sweet Potato Balls

The snack part doesn't end just there, before rounding up with a cutesy plate of these Bouncy Golden Sweet Potato Balls. Don’t let its appearance fools you for this fritters is not the usual sweet potato fried balls that you see elsewhere. This Taiwanese version is much lighter in composition where the interior of the balls is rather very, very porous but yet, still remain very elastically crispy on the outside. Yes, it still uses flour to prepare this snack but the texture is totally surprisingly different. I could actually liken it to the weight of ping pong ball lol Personally, I still enjoy a more solid kind of dough, like the common ones.

Red Braised Beef with Ramen

It is not long before the first noodle dish comes to join our table; Red Braised Beef with Ramen. There is a thin layer of red oil accompanying this bowl of noodle. According to one of the foodie on our rectangular table, the soup is pretty intense with the beef flavor and not spicy at all. So, don’t be intimidated by the reddish oil then lol Meat wise is still agreeably juicy and tender whilst the ramen is pleasantly springy.
