Epicurean

Japanese Restaurant being one
of the establishment, occupying the piazza of Sunway Giza, offering a great
smorgasbord of Japanese flair to whet your taste buds deliciously. With the
option to whether dine in al-fresco or air-conditioned surrounding, the menu by
Sozo is rather extensive and value-for-money, considering the many selections
of Japanese dishes, starting from appetizers, sushi, sashimi, mains to ramen,

The

Japanese friends culturally.

known as Japanese Chinese cuisine, is the foundation of Sozo’s menu but served
with their unique twist.Let’s have a quick glimpse of what

Japanese Restaurant is definitely a place worth visiting, especially when you
are a great fan of the many varieties of Japanese food with huge appetite too.
Currently they are running a promotion, lunch buffet comes at only RM48 and

Many have talked about this dainty cakehouse located
at Publika Shopping Gallery and finally, we got the chance to drop by for a
taste or two recently for its famed delicious
cakes and desserts, after ducking out
awhile from the hectic schedule.

Alluring
and motleys of assorted cakes are the heart and soul of Swich Café, and
as such, the luscious cakes are aptly displayed to the public conveniently in
the glass which easily takes the centrestage naturally.

Being the pride
of Swich Cafe, guests would be more often than not be spoilt for choices upon
coming up to the cake counter, deliberately contemplating which piece of sweet
morsels to choose from. The selection of cakes are pretty extensive here,
assuring there is everything to suit everyone’s sweet tooth craving.

Open air
enclave that is soothingly exuded with violet hue as the theme.

All-time signatures
of familiar flavours such as mangosteen and cempedak cakes have throned the
limelight for quite some time now, so let’s make some way to greet an array of newly
introduced indulgent slices that are equally promising to the taste buds too.

FRENCH
APPLE GULA MELAKA CREAM CAKE (MYR 12.90)

Bridging the gastronomical gap between Each and West,
foodie’s palate is greeted with the juicy cubes of moist apple bites layered
between the cakes. It then reminds me of sipping into a fruity apple juice or snacking
on some apple pie; stirring up some sweet memories indeed …………

SALTED
CARAMEL JAPANESE CHEESECAKE (MYR 12.90)

Light and
fluffy Japanese cheesecake layered with salted caramel cream cheese, drizzled
with sea-salted caramel. I always love how the briny character of
the sodium enhances the caramel taste harmoniously.

THE
APHRODITE (MYR 12.90)

So named
after the Greek Goddess of Love and Fertility! Hehe………

Bursting
with pomegranates, figs, strawberries and blueberries, the vibrant chromatic
garnishment is already beckoning from afar, even before reaching our table. Each
tiny bites of the pomegranates is bursting with juices, hence injecting zesty fruitiness
into it. No refined white sugar is used here, only Gula Melaka and brown sugar.

MUSANG
KING DOUBLE DURIAN PIE (MYR 15.90)

Creamy
musang king durian on a Varlhona cocoa biscuit crust topped with Durian Cream! The
chocolaty crust is tad too hard for me, but unmistakably appealing to any serious
durian fans out there, as its unique pungency is what we truly adore palatably,
no? Indeed a true durian indulgence!

SALTED
CARAMEL TRIPLE VARLHONA FUDGE (MYR 12.90)

Chocolate
cake made with Grand Crus Varhona single origin chocolate, frosted with Varlhona
chocolate cocoa fudge and a layer of salted caramel cream cheese. Essentially
the true gratification of chocolate heaven especially when my fave choc brand
is part of the ingredient. The fact I love Varlhona chocolate is that it comes
at the right cocoa proportion with the right saccharinity, not overly sugary
but with real dark chocolate sensation, nyumm…………

Coming towards the end, let’s make it a triple shot today for Varhona noms,
shall we? (=

VARHONA
HOT CHOCOLATE (MYR 12)

It could also easily mistaken as Mocha, except the
fact that the espresso shot is missing, hehe. A good alternative for those
chocolate lovers who just simply love slurping and enjoying the fragrant
chocolaty drink. The perfect-winter beverage I would say…

LAVENDER
LATTE (MYR 11)

Some interesting tweak to the usual
average cup of Latte. After Salted Latte, RoseLatte and now, we have Lavender latte in the house! Milky and smooth body gracefully
engaged by the lavender aroma.

Embarked on a confectionary-centric
enterprise, Swich Café easily lives up to a place where epicurean could escape
from the hustle and bustle of city life for a moment, to indulge relaxingly
with sumptuous home-baked cakes over aromatic cups of Joe that gonna unwind
your day blissfully. Certainly a hide-out for ardent dessert lovers, that for
sure!

Cheers for now and follow us

Whether you are a King or Queen, boy or girls,
everyone is welcomed to this culinary regality DIM SUM KING VS STEAMBOAT
QUEEN, serving both Dim Sum and Steamboat delicacies all under one roof at
Sunway Mentari here.

Previously known as Fatty Cat Steamboat restaurant,
it has since been taken over and renamed royally before embarking on an
immensely wider spread of choice, from sumptuous little Oriental morsels under
seasoned chef of 20 years to piping hot steamboat broth ranging from the Macau-inspired
pork bone soup, tom yam or porridge.

Food are reasonably priced here and I can’t help but
to indulge more on the dim sum selections, which are notably very well executed
deliciously with assured freshness. Dim Sum are served throughout the morning till
lunch time while steamboat feast proceed later on till at night.

Steamboat (All You Can Eat) MYR 38++.

Dim Sum (Ala-Carte) MYR 4.60 nett each

Fret not over sweating as comfortable dining area
are there to cool you off while ‘steaming’ with the steamboat-ing session.

Also delights in an assorted array of homemade
meatballs, imported beef, lamb and mussels from New Zealand and fresh oysters
too!

As we usually prefer our steamboat broth to be
clear, we opted for the signature and crowd’s favorite Pork Bone Soup, that
surprises the taste buds of ours with its sweet sapidness from the pork bone
with an added smoothness from the milk too. Watching it slowly boiled in the
pot together with the other ingredients are enough to get us drooling lots!

But let’s not be too impatient and savour their uber
awesome Dim Sum spread first, shall we? (=

Diners could choose from over 50 types of choices-
steamed or fried dim sums, with chee cheong fun and varieties of porridge to
warm up your tummy. As we have steamboat session coming up next, so we stick to
some lighter bites instead such as crystal shrimp dumpling, steamed siew mai, pork
ribs with black bean sauce, golden bun aka custard bun, sesame pastry with
lotus, pan fried carrot cake and the list goes on.

And my best bet would be their prawn-themed nosh
such as har kau, fried or prawn dumpling. Each mouthful bites suggests
bounteous juiciness fully-packed in it rendering an unmistakable satisfaction
as reflected by our facial expression (=

Ensue soon is steamboat time!

A luscious plate of delish combination with handmade
dumplings too!

On top of that, diners could also actually have
their chosen ingredients to be dished out in their favorite flavours such as
salted egg crab, or spicy chilli too. Now that is another steal to this marvelous
dim sum-steamboat combo establishment (=

Ah, don’t forget to tickle the sweet tooth of yours
with Polar brand ice popsicles or even waffle ice creams too, gently reviving
my childhood memories, hehe.

So are you ready for the battle between the King and
Queen? Who will triumph in the end, taste wise? Hehe. The only way to justify
it is to come and find out sioon, which wins the cockles of your heart more,
the dim sum or the steamboat (=

Since opening in last May, Palace Kitchen has been a
favourite dining place especially for family occasion since it’s located in the
vicinity of Shamelin neighbourhood.

Diners could expect a sumptuous array of honest homey food
deliciously dished up by Paul, together with his compatriot of none other than
his beloved mom. Paul is seen as a lively and resourceful chap who has had a
fair share of culinary travel experience, from France, Singapore than to the
current place that he calls hometown, Malaysia.

The restaurant boast a clean and comfortable dining
environment and is also brightly lit, which projects a neat and tidy interior,
as contrary to what you would have seen in other usual Chinese neighborhood
restaurants which at times could be tad laid back and facilely decorated.

Nutritious home-boiled Chinese ‘leong
shui’ (aka tonic drink) to cool off the body.

Diners are assured of healthy drinks
as Paul insisted to freshly prepare those beverages every morning without any flavor
enhancers and the varieties would rotate on different days. The one that we had
that evening was from the mixture of ‘luo han guo’ or more commonly known as
monk fruit.

Ensue next were the deliciously and
freshly woofed up dishes from the stove of Palace Kitchen.

FRY SPICY MINCED MEAT WITH TOFU AND PUMPKIN SAUCE (MYR 15)

Indeed an alluring golden plate of
silken tofu, gracefully doused with homemade pumpkin accompanied by the
specially made minced meat to add flavours. I personally find that meaty bites
are very chunky and full of flavor, not too spicy but rich in spice aroma that
certainly spice up the overall dish. It easily goes well with a plate of hot,
white rice.

MINCED
MEAT WITH BRINJAL and HOMEMADE FISH PASTE (MYR 15)

Another plate that comes with the ‘secret weapon’;
minced meat that is very savoury and moister as compared to the spicily fried
version with the bean curd earlier. Taste
wise, this claypot dish is much more robust in flavor, where the homemade sweet
fish paste (‘yu wat’) is enhanced with stronger flavor by the minced meat and
also brinjals that have done a good job by absorbing the sauce essence, making
it a pleasant comfort food that needs not further additional sauces to go with.

PAUL STYLE PORK RIBS (MYR 25)

Paul’s interpretation of braised
pork ribs. Tender and juicy from the inside out while blending in with some Chinese
herbs gravy and house special recipe. Nicely glazed visually and having a
slightly different nuance from the mass- the pork meat has a mild chewier
texture rather than those Western recipes which prone to ‘melt-in-the-mouth’
texture. Something interesting from this Oriental cook I would say (=

SIGNATURE ASAM (MYR 31)

Steamed Bonito Fish Head (‘song yu’) using home blend paste
of tart-spicy Asam paste and garnished with mint leaves. The fish was
generously served and deemed reasonably priced, looking at the huge portion.
Red asam paste was thankfully not too spicy and rather mild but full of herbs
fragrance, with some gingery kicks too. I wouldn’t mind if it’s slightly more
sour to whet the palate appetizingly, hehe.

HONG KEE STYLE DACE FISH FRY (MYR 14)

Finally a
veggie plate to greet out table and sorta balanced out the meaty feast earlier
(=

It’s the
homey fried dace fish with black beans served alongside some chili padi atop
crisp lettuce. This dish need not much flavoring as the brininess from the dace
fish is sufficient to add flavours and
complement the stir-fried leafy greens delectably.

Overall, I find
Palace Kitchen Restaurant a cozy place for family dining as well as enjoying
meal with friends alike over sumptuous Chinese cuisine. It may not be that posh
or opulently executed, but definitely serves up a homey grubs that are added
with love and passion in it, plus, most of the sauces and relish are inhouse
made albeit it can be time consuming. Do have a try!

Cheers
for now and follow us at Carpe Diem for more ‘food-ful’ discoveries! ❤ℒℴѵℯ❤

Step

into Mizukawa Japanese Restaurant and be ready to be greeted with

its comfy-centric environment, suitable for both casual hang out as well as a perfect

venue for family dining.

Gracing

the avenue of IOI Boulevard in Puchong, Mizukawa has been whetting the palate

of nearby folks for over 3 months now, offering a promising myriad of Japanese

delights to tantalize your taste buds discerningly. Diners could browse

patiently from the wide choices before deciding on those that intrigue you the

most, from appetizers, salad, sashimi, nigiri sushi, aburi mentai sushi, maki

sushi, yakimono, agemono, kushiyaki, donburi, sukiya buffet, kaminabe, udon

pasta, to teishoku, as well as the latest addition of new menu; ramen.

Sign up as member to enjoy more saving! While stock last...

And

to our utter surprise, the ramen served here is one noteworthy dish worth

exploring further with various toppings to go with (before it gets overshadowed

by the other delish Japanese fares that we shall share later, hehe). The noodles

come especially springy and slurpy, and not easily get soggy in the soup when

diners get too carried away with their chatting and camaraderie at times. Truly

remarkable and highly recommend it.

Currently

it’s available in set, comes with complementing fish cakes, salad and fruits

sides each

Refreshing

salad that comes with wafu and mayo dressing, besides crispy bites

of fish cakes addictively.For

the Original Ramen Set, we have the best of both worlds; original soup and spicy

version.

CHICKEN BBQ RAMEN (17.90)

Love

the tender and nicely rolled up meat, adequately marinated before slowly braised

in special sauce to amuse your taste buds. Soup is very flavourful that is

subtlely enhanced with sweetness from long hours boiling of chicken and fish

bones. We personally enjoy this set very much, no wonder it’s also a popular

choice among diners, the best-seller according to Shawn, the owner of Mizukawa.SPICY SEAFOOD RAMEN (MYR 18.90)

For

those who prefer some spicy kick in their ramen bowl, then this seafood ramen

in spicy broth comes ideally inviting. Comprising of oceanic wonders like

salmon, squids and prawns, all flavoured up in the spiced soup prepared with

special inhouse blend of chili powder, it makes up an appetizingly aromatic

dish that is not overly spicy, so foodies with faint tongue could also enjoy

this delish ramen as well. UNAGI TOFU SALAD (MYR 30.80)

Premium

river eel layered atop silky beancurd with mayonnaise and sesame dressing.

Enjoy

each mouthful helping of the saporous unagi slice that has been thoroughly

glazed and served with salad in wafu sauce and in house prepared goma sauce, even

soya sauce too.SASHIMI 5 TEN MORI (MYR 68.80)

Callin’

out to sashimi buff!

Relish

in the colorfully fresh combination of almon, maguro, hamachi, shiro maguro and salmon toro. Bounteous sashimi cuts are munificently served

to satisfy your craving for these Japanese quintessential delights.

The salmon literally melts

in your mouth!

MIZUKAWA SPECIAL ROLL SUSHI (MYR 22.80)

California

roll made in the unconventional way by dishing it up on a plate with special

bake cream, shrimp roe and sweet sauce. We must say that this is a

fantastic idea to both palatably and visually that tempts us with the idea of

totally forgetting about the usual conical roll moving forward. Not only it’s

conveniently consumed, but also wonderfully toothsome!

IKA MARUYAKI (MYR 18.90)

For

the yakimono, we heed with Shawn’s suggestion of trying the

specially grilled whole squid with homemade teriyaki sauce. The

decision is proven right when relishing in the enticing chewy bites of the

perfectly grilled Japanese squid with the unique savory sauce that is sapid but

not as overpowering sweet as commonly encountered in mass commercial

production.

MISAKI HOTATE YAKI (MYR 23.90)

Another

superb rendition of baked scallop with cream sauce, laces of sweet crab meat

and shrimp roe for the utmost seafood delectation.

CREAMY KAKI YAKI (MYR 18.90)

Innovatively

house crafted baked oyster that has been lightly breaded and speedily deep

fried beforehand, and then drizzled with bake cream sauce, shrimp roe

and seaweed. Like the idea of the earlier handling of the oyster by first

frying it up to get rid of any unpleasant seawater taste and to give a tangy contrast

in texture.

KINOKO BUTTER (MYR 15.90)

Mushroom

fans like me would be thrilled over this homey and yummy fragrantly cooked

dish- assortment of mixed mushrooms with butter and bonito flakes.

Slimply awesome and thumbs up!

Now

who don’t love kushiyaki? Just how the Japanese love their fave street

food freshly grilled till perfection while retaining the juice!

YAKITORI (MYR 12.90)

Succulent

cubes of skewered grilled chicken meat. Guests could actually

request and check with Shawn whether their choice of kushiyaki sticks could be

done according to personal taste preference- in this case, I have it shio yaki-

grilled with salt rather than as suggested in the menu. Yum!

IKA GESSO KUSHI (MYR 17.90)

Diners

shouldn’t miss this cutely skewered grilled squid head that is plainly

winning with its chunky bite-sized and delicious glaze. Caveat be told, you

would tend to get hooked on to it for more! (=

Rather than ending every

meal from The Land of Rising Sun with matcha gelato by default, why not give

some citrusy sorbet a try?

Add caption

SORBET (MYR 10.50 each)

Mango

Orange- a hit among regularsCoconut

made with pandan (screwpine)

Overall, the array of

Japanese food that is served at Mizukawa promises a mouthwatering affair and

patrons get to enjoy the spread within a cozy and soothing environment. Menu

featured are interestingly appealing and delicious for Shawn really emphasizes

only freshest ingredients are served, otherwise withdrawn, and insist to make

most of the sauce inhouse for a spectacular dining experience at Mizukawa. Do

remember to check it out soon guys!
