creative desserts! Smile Mar 16, 2016

Categories : Western variety | Café

We personally opined that we deserved desserts right after salads for lunch, and the appealing bright pink croissants warrants a visit here, at the Pantry 👌🏻 Today is one of those days when I felt like I should skip coffee and have something else, in instance, their detoxifier juice, while my companions decided to have the hot lemon tea and latte on Papa Palheta's PIF blend!
Aside from the usual cakes on display, we decided to have their plated desserts, The Passionfruit Cheesecake and Rose Croissant with Raspberry sauce on the side 😋 the texture of the croissant was crispy and it had just the right hint of rose flavour while the cheesecake was served with freeze-dried raspberries and mango coulis. For those who love rose flavour, this would be a great treat.
The cheesecake was super soft and it melts in the mouth, when I pop it in my mouth.

Don't pass the meal here without their famous signature pork rice bowl. They name it a Hokkaido Pork Don with Soft Boiled Egg. This set comes alongside with a bowl of miso soup and dippings on the side such as mayo, chili flakes, pickled ginger slices. The bbq pork belly was so tender and juicy. The fat and lean portion was nicely distributed and the fats literally melts in your mouth when I pop them into my mouth. There were loads of rice sitting right below the slices of bbq pork belly and the portion was generous. If you are a small eater, it is recommended to share a bowl with another person.

I also had the privilege to try the fried salmon skins and fried chickens. Both were good but the former did much better than the latter. As you take a bite into it, you will hear a loud crunch sound from the fried skins.

My overall meal here was satisfactory and this warrants another visit again.

Stage cafe Smile Feb 26, 2016

Started my morning super early. My energy level dropped and I was left feeling sluggish and sleepy for hours after that.
But my day was made by a visit here mad
Decided to have coffee and something sweet for my taste buds.
So I went for a cup of cappuccino and their home baked Friendship cake.

Cappuccino was on point & love their amazingly soft baked green tea and jasmine chiffon cake! It was super fragrant and airy. I can't deny the fluffiness love Topped off with baked almonds as a pretty garnishing, gotta reckon that this went well with my filter coffee of choice today which is the Ethiopia Hambela on aero press. The cappuccino had a nutty aftertaste and a memorable sweet long finishing that I will always remember, till this date of time.

toasts and coffee kinda day Smile Jun 02, 2016

Of the ghetto egg toast and toast manis, accompanied alongside with a flat white just because I've deprived myself of good coffee, the last few days and after all, it's Friday!
I just had to.
I absolutely adore the ghetto egg toast.
The delicate sweetness and fragrance from kaya spread and drizzles of kicap manis went really well with the crispy toasts, topped off with onsen egg.
It was a combination of sweet and savoury all in one beautiful creation!
The coffee tasted really good. The sweetness and acidity cutting through the slight bitterness from the coffee!

hakka noodles Smile Apr 03, 2016
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Noodles

The Hakka noodles were well seasoned with flavours without being too salty. The Hakka noodles were thick and smooth too! Doused with a good amount of soy sauce, those black looking noodles were delicious. It was also finished off with a garnishing of diced spring onions to give it an extra oomph. Aside from that, our bowl of dry Hakka noodles were accompanied by a bowl of minced pork and pork balls in soup. The pork balls were really juicy and sweet.
Besides that, we also had a plate of stir fried Hakka yam abacus which are basically made out of tapioca flour and pumpkins. The texture is chewy and it is once again, delivered with the right flavours from stir frying with ingredients such as black fungus, minced pork and spring onion.
