morning breakfast! OK Mar 04, 2016

Categories : Western variety | Café | Pizza/Pasta | Steaks / Chops | Sweets/Snack

An early morning to Publika just before 9am had me sitting here till 10am when most shops start their operation.

The fillings in the burrito are beef bacon, scrambled eggs, baked beans, jalapeno, avocado, sour cream & coriander and on the side, there are hash browns to complete the meal.
The combination was really perfect, with hints of spiciness from the jalapeno pepper and tanginess from the sour cream.

This meal was sufficient to keep me going and focused throughout the entire day.
I won't end the meal without having my mandatory coffee fix and here, I had a latte.
It tasted smooth, nutty with a nice chocolaty finishing.

Mee Hoon Kueh! OK Feb 28, 2016
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Noodles

On a sunny Sunday, we decided to have Chilly Pan Mee for breakfast before we headed to the malls. The weather was extremely hot, so I had decided to skip the mandatory chilli pan mee in fear of the unbearable heat and opted for the mee hoon kueh which directly means hand-pulled noodles in Hokkien dialect.

The clear soup base was lacking in flavors and fragrance, as compared to other versions of pan mee soup base I have had in the past.
In terms of the texture, the noodles were cooked to al-dente perfection. Aside from the usual fried anchovies, chinese Spinach, minced meat and fried shallots, that bowl of noodles was topped off with a poached egg to boost up the breakfast fare. The portion was just nice for an average eater like me.

sinful molten lava cakes! OK Feb 26, 2016

Categories : Western variety | Café | Burgers / Sandwiches | Bakery / Cake / Kuih

Sometimes you just have to go for a close up. Finally here to give their molten lava cakes a go and this time I had the dark chocolate and salted egg yolk molten lava cakes.
a slice through the soft exterior cake with a spoon reveals an overflowing goodness of the fillings. The sweetness of the ice cream is balanced with the saltiness coming from the salted egg yolk fillings but I reckon that it could be saltier tongue

I had a fair share of both lava cakes and I preferred the salted yolk molten lava cake over the dark chocolate counterpart. Nevertheless, I'll be back to give the other flavours such as peanut butter, matcha, dark and spicy, salted caramel and many more, a try!

Nara Kitchen. OK Feb 26, 2016

The Organic Scramble

This dish comprises of golden scrambled eggs topped off with caviar and tobiko, crispy fried tempura mushrooms, a side of homemade blueberry compote accompanied by two slices of in-house buttery French brioche.

The portion was generous and priced at that such steep level, it was pretty much, forking out the money. The texture of the fried tempura mushrooms were crispy and they weren't too oily, while the scrambled eggs were neither runny nor rubbery.

Overall, this dish isn't something that I would return for, being that it wasn't too fantastic or memorable, but I would definitely be back to sample other dishes.

Udon moments.  OK Feb 23, 2016
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Ramen/Udon/Soba

my personal favorite would be the Ontama Bukkake Udon which looks bland but don't let the appearance deceive you as their udons pack a punch of flavour! I opine that their portions here are pretty generous and reasonably priced for those who are tight on their wallet.
For those who loves having eggs with their noodles, do not miss out on their Mori-no-tamago, which is basically a type of Japanese egg that can be eaten raw. The texture of the noodles were really chewy. All their noodles are made fresh daily at the restaurant. If you're craving for a side dish and something to bite on after finishing your udon, their tempura is a great choice and my personal favourite would be the plain kakiage with or without egg. Both are equally good. The texture of the freshly fried tempuras were really crispy and it was not that oily.
