A visit to Ipoh is incomplete without a meal here at Lim Kopi.
There was a big Chinese festivity ongoing when I paid a visit there, so the queue and the wait itself was pretty long. A craving for all things local had brought me here to fulfil my satisfaction.
I had the soft boiled eggs, double slices of kaya butter toast and an egg custard.
Imagine dipping those crispy toast which are slathered with butter and kaya into the soft boiled eggs!
The toast was nothing short of amazing and it goes together well with the eggs.
Lim Kopi is my personal favourite place to get my egg custard cravings fixed and this place surely did well in terms of the sweetness and texture. It was very light in texture, the sweetness was not overpowering at all.

There are many places for dim sum in Ipoh and Ming court is one of the preferred choice by the locals.
In comparison to those dim sum served in kl, the ones here are much smaller in size but pack as much flavour as it seems.
Ming Court also serves sweet soups such as desserts, or Tong Sui. Especially something which is calorie-worthy, is the black sesame dessert, (Chi Ma Wu), which can easily be shared between two. Whereby the usual norm in dim sum outlets are desserts in the form of egg tarts, or beancurd jelly with longan, at Ming Court you can find Tong Sui, to end your meal on a sweet note I had a fair share of their egg tarts and to be honest, the crust was too thick for my liking. While the steam fish balls were acceptable, it didn't taste too fishy and they got the texture right. The glutinous rice with chicken, braised phoenix claws (chicken feet!), stuffed eggplants, and of course, the mandatory hargao (prawn dimsum) and siumai (pork dimsum) are the few must orders and try.

Within minutes after the teapot arrived on our table, we were swarmed by ladies holding trays and trays of dimsum recommending the few bestselling dim sums to us and scraping our order down in the order sheet before leaving to the next table. The service was pleasantly attentive as time to time, you are approached by them, asking if there are anything else that we need or want more.
