Fancy breakfast fare! OK May 04, 2016

The Butcher's Breakfast here is pretty much just like how any other breakfast are served. I was a famished lady after completing a run first thing in the morning, so I knew I had to have something heavier.

Every ingredient in the Butcher's Breakast came in a pair and if you are not a heavy eater, it's best to share this dish as the portion is generous.

Next up, I managed to give their famous french toast, which goes by the name Drunken Frenchmen a try! The ingredients used in making it is interesting as they integrate the use of Guinesss into it.

The french toast was crowned with a single scoop of Forty Licks vanilla ice-cream garnished with a mint leaf and surrounded by lashings of what might be a Guinness-based reduction.
OM NOM NOM.

soft serves! Smile Apr 14, 2016

Soft serve, as the name itself suggest, the texture was extremely soft and melts really fast! What more with this blistering hot weather that makes it melt ten times faster.

I had the opportunity to sample the hojicha and matcha soft serves.

Hojicha is basically roasted green tea. The distinct roasted flavour was apparent in this soft serve. The bitterness was well balanced with sweetness from the milk used in making this soft serve. The same also goes to the Matcha soft serve. Both were equally good and it is hard to pick and decide which is better.

bread-ing all day! Smile Apr 12, 2016

A meal here wouldnt be complete without something sweet and today I decided to have their bread and butter pudding to go along with my iced coffee.
The iced coffee was definitely a good respite under the blistering heat, something that I appreciate with this weather ongoing in our country.

The bread and butter pudding was just what I needed; a bowl of luscious treat. my verdict :it left me wanting more and it was gone in seconds after taking my first bite.
Their bread and butter pudding was made with homemade bread and served with hot vanilla and rum custard, not forgetting the optional ice cream to top it off! The pudding definitely put me in a festive mood with soft bread, great flavours and a hearty custard; I really liked the hint of caramelisation on the top!

Lunching! OK Apr 10, 2016

Tuna melt, sunshine smoothie bowl, beetroot chocolate cake and plain madeleines for lunch. Perfect fuel to get me going through the day.
Nothing beats a good ol' plain crispy madeleine. No adornments needed. In regards to the tuna melt sandwich, I liked how the tuna melt is finished with a layer of melted gooey rich cheddar cheese topped off with fragrant spring onions to give it an additional oomph factor.

The beetroot chocolate cake was not dry at all, and it crumbles easily as it was really moist.

The plain madeleines were of nothing to shout about. The texture was nice, as it was not too dry.

The smoothie bowl was something refreshing to have on a blistering hot day but the portion was rather small.

coffee and doughnut time! Smile Feb 22, 2016

Decided to drop by VCR on a Saturday morning as I wanted to give their doughnuts a try, knowing and keeping in mind that the doughnuts are only available during the weekends. They only have two flavored doughnuts, chocolate almond and matcha oreo. As a big matcha fan, I picked the latter over the former. The perfectly baked doughnuts with matcha glaze and oreo cookie crumbs were not overly sweet at all mad

It was no doubt the perfect accompaniment to my bittersweet coffee. This is my first time having their in-house baked doughnuts and I loved it. The texture is a bit odd because it is unlike any other donuts out there in the markets as this crumbles easily as I slice through it. Not to forget to order a cup of joe whenever you swing by. If you are uncertain what to have, #askthebarista , they'd happily recommend you according to your preference. Nevertheless, the combination of aroma and gentle taste makes this a perfect treat for the afternoon.
