Grilled Chicken Smile Aug 08, 2012   (Related Review)

The ambience at Cravings Kitchen and Bistro is quite a simple one. Its decoration is kept to the minimum with white tables and chairs which gives it a clean image. It has quite an extensive menu from Asian to Western cuisine. The prices are quite reasonable too. While I was here, I tried the Grilled Chicken. It comes with mashed potatoes and curly fries. A funny combination though with two potatoes dishes but I enjoyed the crunchy curly fries. The mashed potatoes are a little let down as it has a weird taste due to the carrots bits that were mixed in. I liked the slightly charred chicken where it gives out an aromatic charring flavour with the chicken skin and the meat is tender to the bite. It has the right marination with the right saltiness and slight pepper taste to it, which is good to be eaten on its own without the sauce. The mushroom sauce is very thick with a full bodied mushroomy flavour that goes hand-in-hand with the chicken.

Sizzling Lamb Cutlet Smile Aug 08, 2012   (Related Review)

Another recommended dish here at Souled Out is the Sizzling Lamb Cutlet. It is marinated in special blend of Indian herbs and served on a sizzling plate. The sizzling plate makes the flavour more intense as the spices’ fragrance filled the air at the table. The lamb cutlets are tender and juicy. Most of all, it came without the gamy taste. They are flavourful with a good combination of spiciness and herbs’ fragrance. Wrap it with the naan provided for a combination with soft fluffy bread and tender flavourful meat. This is the best dish I’ve eaten there so far. Also, I liked that there are some vegetables such as lady fingers and long beans with belacan on the sizzling plate too. At least they provide fibre as opposed to all meat. They’re spicy and full of kick when eaten hot!

Sambal Smile Aug 08, 2012   (Related Review)

Not only Anggrek Kuring offers unique dishes but also its rice and sambal. The rice is cooked with natural herbs and spices and reveals a fragrant and fluffy touch to the palate as opposed to the bland white rice. Remember to ask for the sambal. The delish sambal is prepared with eight types of ingredients which include fresh chili, onions and salt. The rest of the ingredients are a secret (according to the chef). It has this sweet yet slightly spicy taste to it which is so good that you can have it with the rice without anything else! I also liked the texture of the caramelised onions where it just sort of melts in the mouth with its sweet flavours.

Lamb Ragu Pasta Smile Aug 07, 2012   (Related Review)

Another must-try dish here at Levain is definitely the Lamb Ragu. Although it looked quite small when it arrived but it’s quite filling! The fettucine pasta is home-made hence the sizes are slightly bigger and it taste much firm. I liked the texture where it isn’t too hard but not too soft yet with a firm bite. The lamb tasted like bolognaise but with a richer flavour and texture. It has more spices in the mixture and more intense, probably due to the usage of lamb. However, it does not offer any gamy flavour to it. It has a sweet finishing to the palate as it has caramelised onions in it too. The cheese powder is a great addition to the dish where it adds fragrance to it. It comes with a side salad too but I prefer if they offer the salad with a dressing.

If you’re a Japanese curry fan, you could try out the Chicken Karaage Curry Rice here at Levain. The service is quite fast too where it arrives in five minutes. The presentation of the dish is very appetising. The curry sauce is more to the sweet side and its curry is equally aromatic. It does not give the usual spiciness but you could taste the sweet curry flavour in every bite. The rice is fluffy is moist too, just the way I like it. The chicken is simply wonderful. It still retains its moisture and tenderness after being fried. It is also fresh where they fry the chicken when the order is placed. The flour coating is very light which is easy on the palate and flavourful with the right amount of salt too. Overall, it’s great!
