Breakfast Smile Jan 19, 2013

Looking for traditional-flavored food? My friend took me to this Zhong Guo Jiu Dian, a shop near to Klang KTM station to have breakfast.

Yeah, that was my childhood breakfast with parents every weekend – Toasted bread with butter and coconut jam. There were 3 types of bread: white bread, bun or whole meal bun; either toasted or steamed.

This was the toasted whole meal bun with butter and coconut jam (MYR 1.50), the white bread and bun cost MYR 1.20 per serving.

There was a Malay stall in front of the shop selling Nasi Lemak. Almost everyone would order a plate of rice and dine in with another toasted bread and a cup of hot coffee as their breakfast.

Since there was no seat, I took away my Nasi Lemak with Sotong and Fried Egg (MYR 4.20).
The rice was nothing special but the sambal did impress me much since it was not oily as others. The cuttlefish was well-cooked until tender and flavorful.

Other than the food, all the staffs and customers – Chinese, Malay and Indian were friendly to each other – harmony scenery.

Korean food Smile Jan 19, 2013   (Related Review)

I like the Korean food here before renovation. Would the quality and taste remain after renovation? I went for it after done my shopping. The price has been rising a little.

I took Kimchi soup set (MYR 12.00) – white rice with Kimchi soup and a small portion of banchan (Kimchi and potato).

The Kimchi was stewed until tender so the soup was sweetened with Chinese cabbage. There were chicken, smooth tofu and glass noodle inside the soup. It was a hearty and warmy lunch.
Among the Korean food I had tried from different food court, I would say Korean cuisine from Food Junction is my first choice.

Vegetarian Food Smile Jan 11, 2013

There were only 2 stalls selling vegetarian food in SS2 Selera Makan. I always went to Nick’s Vegetarian as the food was not over seasoned.

I ordered Basil leaf Fried Mihun (MYR 5.00) while my brother took Bitter gourd Brown rice Porridge (MYR 6.50).

The fried vermicelli appealed me simply because I like greens very much. Every bite was flavored with basil leaf. If you don’t like basil leaf, I would advise you to order other items. tongue

The porridge was full with bitter gourd and tomatoes. The texture was just nice – neither too dilute nor too thick.

I like the boss since she was helpful and patient in recommending her food to us. I am looking for Wednesday to try out her Hakka Lei Cha.

Stewed Rice Smile Jan 11, 2013

It was 3 o’clock but the Char Chan Teng still packed with lots of people. It proved that Malaysians do not eat at regular time, same to me; I had not taken lunch yet.

There were many choices from the menu, from snacks to mains to desserts. It is always hard to make decision when you are hungry since everything looks good to you. Finally I ordered herbal-stewed rice (MYR 10.50).

The rice was steamed in herbal soup until cooked. The soup was flavorful with natural sweetness from wolfberries. The minced pork and ginger did make a good matching to the soup.

The only complaint was the service crew did not bring me cutleries when the food being served.

Food Garden Smile Dec 17, 2012

Categories : Thai | Food court | Mixed rice

It’s still early for dinner but almost all cafés were full with people. We were hungry and wanted to have a wholesome meal. Luckily there were not much people in Food Garden (maybe because of the food not tasty?). Most workers there were foreigners but they were polite and friendly in recommending their dishes.

I ordered a Ladna Thai Special from Lanna Thai Stall. My brother took Briyani Rice with Chicken from Kebab House.

The Ladna Thai Special (MYR7.30) consisted of white rice with Green Curry chicken with basil leaf, Mango salad, Long bean with Thai Chili sauce and Fried peanuts.
The Green Curry was well-fragrant with basil leaves, perfect gravy with white rice but not the chicken breast as the chicken was overcooked to a tough texture. The Mango Salad and Thai Chili sauce were so appetizing, made me to have an extra bowl of rice!

My brother’s Briyani Rice set (MYR13.75) came with a Roasted Chicken Leg and Brown sauce. The rice was fluffy and not greasy at all. The chicken was roasted to a perfect doneness -- juicy with nice spiced-aroma. The only complaint was too plain – lack of fibers.
