Simply irresistible! Just fall in love with the minced pork marinated with special sauce and barbecued to perfection. Not too oily and yet juicy enough. Its bite size coin shape tender dried meat makes you asking for more and once you start, you hardly can stop.

RM 64.80 for 600 gram of Pork Golden Coin.
Chicken Golden Coin also available at RM 63.00 for 600 gram.

A place with all under one roof featuring local delights and Western cuisines. This was my second time here after a good few years and very unlucky of me as the tree house was closed for renovation. I didn't call in for tree house reservation on my first visit. Settled on gazebo instead. A raised platform with low table, shoes off and sitting cross-legged.
Temasik Rice Special RM 12.90

Temasik Rice Special RM 12.90

Fragrant butter rice served with kampung fried chicken, beef rendang and spicy shrimp. The beef rendang is very tender with the right mixture of spices whereas the shrimp is overcooked. The deep fried chicken wing is too dry but flavourful.
Nyonya Fried Rice RM 9.90

Nyonya Fried Rice RM 9.90

Spicy fried rice with chicken meat, egg, prawns & 2 sticks of satay. Non-spicy also available. The fried rice is tasteless and the satay doesn't taste like satay at all but more like deep fried chicken breast meat to me.
Nasi Lemak Sambal Sotong RM 7.90

Nasi Lemak Sambal Sotong RM 7.90

The sambal with just the right sweetness goes perfectly with the rice, fragrant with little coconut milk and the usual condiments of hard-boiled egg, anchovies, peanuts and cucumber. The sambal sotong is very well done; fresh and not overcooked. Very generous with the sambal with ample onions to add flavour and taste but only five small pieces of sotong in it. The nasi lemak came with a choice of beef / chicken rendang or sambal sotong.
Spaghetti Carbonara RM 15.90

Super creamy with smoked turkey and mushroom.
Anchovies Fritters RM 6.00

Anchovies Fritters RM 6.00

A bit oily and would expect stronger anchovies taste otherwise just plain flour fritters. They do offer other traditional snacks such as steamed tapioca served with snowy white grated coconut and anchovies sambal at RM 5 per serving. Poached cockles also available at RM 8.90 per serving.
ABC Special RM 6.00

ABC Special RM 6.00

The ABC has the usual treasures under the shaved ice topped with strawberry ice cream. However, the soaked basil seeds gave a refreshing feeling to it. We ordered Lemon Grass RM 5.90, Cendol RM 8.90, Apple Asam Boi RM 8.90 and Banana Milk Shake RM 8.90. I would say their desserts and drinks are over-priced and it just ordinary stuffs.

Relaxing ambience with the touch of Mother Nature

Green plants and trees all around with the sound of running water definitely give a calming atmosphere. As the night goes by, soothing music will be in the air. A nice hangout place overall. The only concern will be mosquito especially on rainy or hot sunny day.

Wow ... what an innovation in the world of burger. Thanks to Keizo Shimamoto, Brooklyn, New York. It is basically ramen noodles replacing the ordinary burger bun to sandwich the patty. It was a hit newcomer in year 2013 and even the 'CEO' would like a big bite of it.

CEO Burger is the first of its kind in the place famous for steamboat; with simple and comfortable interior design. Just simply like the long wooden table and bench which remind me of memorable moments in school life tongue Plenty of choices with either pork or beef patty in the menu and one of it with a catchy word B.A.D; Breakfast All Day of chicken turn sausage, streaky bacon, cheese, over easy egg, crush browns @ RM 18.50. Another name caught my eye, Home Alone of single patty, cheese, gherkin (pickled cucumber) @ RM 14.90. How about Spicy Tom in your burger ? It is of sun-dried tomato sambal, parmesan frail, gherkin, caramelized onion @ RM 17.90.
Ramen Burger RM 15.90

Ramen Burger RM 15.90

Not bad. The 'noodles bun' neither oily nor too dry but just nice. Thick minced pork patty sandwiched between two golden ramen noodles. Still in shape when hold it up to take a bite out of the burger as a big whole.
Absolute A RM 18.90

Absolute A RM 18.90

Thick minced pork patty with mushroom ragout, streaky bacon, cheese, caramelized onion with fries and special in-house sauce. Just love the combination of bamboo charcoal bun softness with the juicy patty.
Heinz Yellow Mustard, Tomato Ketchup or Chilli Sauce for the fries

Heinz Yellow Mustard, Tomato Ketchup or Chilli Sauce for the fries

The fries itself good on its own as the chef sprinkled some spices and salt on it. Nevertheless, just love the yellow mustard and chilli sauce to go with the fries. Not many restaurateur provide sauces from Heinz brand though.

Don't know what sort of food is in store for us in the years to come as more and more entrepreneurs come up with innovative ideas to stay competitive. I rather not to crake my head, as long as edible is good enough tongue

Customised Poon Choi Smile Jan 08, 2014

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood

Poon Choi or Big Bowl Feast always been associated with luxury feast by many. I totally disagreed as the selling point is neither luxury nor extravagance, but to have a different dining experience altogether. Very sad but it has been commercialised over the years. Kar Hee Restaurant is one of the exceptional. Customers may opt for their regular Poon Choi or may customise it according to their favour and yet still within budget between RM 250++ to RM 400++ for 8 to 10 people. Just make a call 3 days in advance for booking and some deposits required.

Our customised big bowl costs RM 268 for 10 people. Instead of layering the food like in the olden days, center of attention is chicken with pumpkin and salted egg. The rest of the delicacies surround the pumpkins consists of fish (fresh fish deboned and made to fish cake look alike fish), Marmite pork spare ribs, roasted duck, steamed chicken (ayam kampung), braised pork knuckle with dried vegetables (梅菜), sweet and sour prawn, vegetables and noodles.

Overall satisfied dinner except that I didn't really like the pork knuckle. Nothing wrong with it just not my cup of tea.

We were the first customer for the day. Drinks and tomato soup being served hot after five minutes placing our order.
In within fifteen minutes another three groups joined the day. Here came our food after another ten minutes but our pork ribs served were cold. Excuse me it was real cold ! Just imagine cold meat with a strong porky taste in the mouth shockedmadsad which not to my tolerance level. Requested the waiter to hit it up for us and to our surprise his response was, the ribs were cold due to the time taken to take photo of it before consumption. What ??? huffy A mere one minutes or less was the the reason of the cold ribs ? No choice but he had to take up our request and returned to us with a hot ribs after five minutes. Yet we can't do anything with the strong porky taste. While still dining, overheard another diner with the same request as mine to hit up the ribs ! Anyway, the chocolate mud-cake dessert was nice. The cake was warm with creamy ice cream topping.

Perhaps not for me but only true porky lover.
