Alrighty! I heard Max's foods consists of MSGs but couldnt care more since we were so hungry. We ordered main dishes like Oriental style fried rice and Stir fried pork chop with chinese style BBQ sauce..you will never go wrong with the pork chop with bbq sauce when you have a 3year old with you around.
The fried rice is one of our favorite amongst the variety of fried rice offered. Hubby requested additional rice for his fried rice and without pork, therefore, the plate come at RM10.40. According to him, the usual portion is not enough for him comparing with the same fried rice we had years ago, when Max's had its branch at Sg Nibong/bayan bay (opp QB Mall). The portion served there was quite huge for a normal size plate but those were the times. Fuel prices increased and everything increased, remember?
I had my usual share of the pork chop rice (RM12.90) with my daughter and hence the portion is not enough for me and therefore i tried their Thai Style Salad with Slice Duck Meat (RM6.90) for the first time. At first, i thought, the serving is huge but only to find out that beneath the salads and duck meats, they added fried noodles inside (like the one you find in Yee Sang) which i don't like. The sauce is ok, spicy and i think the spicy sauce is from the Thai Chilli sauce that you find in the market.
Deep fried prawn rolls (RM5.90/3rolls) & Prawn & Parsley dumpling (RM5.9/3pcs) are a must to order (for hubby). These 2 are recommend if you are not feeling so hungry but is looking for something to bite.
As for drinks (not in the picture), i ordered Ying Yang (Coffee & Tea) Mix RM6.90 and hubby ordered Sugar Cane RM3.90. In total, we paid RM57 (Including 10% service charge and 6% government Tax)
Although it mentioned that wifi is available but i failed to log in that day only to find out that "no more wifi available" from one of its staffs sad

Recommended Dish(es):  Prawn dumpling,fried rice

Spending per head: Approximately RM20(午餐)

Cakes, cakes & cakes Smile Nov 11, 2013

Today i bought 3 cups of Tiramisu, 2 slices of Zoccoto, 1 slice of Marble Cheesecake, 1 slice of Chocolate cake. If you ask me which one is good, I can tell you that most of the cakes are delicious but i like most is Zoccoto and Tiramisu. I have tried the Zoccoto at a friend's daughter birthday and had fallen in love with it since. Zoccoto is full of nuts and the texture of the cake is smooth and full of moisture.
As for Tiramisu, I remember at one time, I bought a cup of tiramisu together with other cake for my parents. I told my dad to choose any cake inside the box and he chose Tiramisu. He finished the whole cup of tiramisu and said "this is so delicious", leaving me with the dust of the chocolate powder (sigh).
Hence, i bought 3 cups of Tiramisu today and quickly took one out from the box before hands out the whole box of cakes for my dad to choose.
Now, if you have not tried their Tiramisu, you can imagine how popular it is in my household, eh?
The soft and full of moisture Tiramisu is a must if you ever going over to the Brix but i must tell you that there are 2 types of Tiramisu. The one i had is a normal version which is RM8.90 whereas the other one decorated with nuts is RM9.90.
Other cakes are from RM6.80 onwards.

Recommended Dish(es):  Tiramisu,Zoccoto

Spending per head: Approximately RM7(下午茶)

Nyonya food OK Nov 11, 2013

It was my mum who had craving for nyonya food that we decided to have our dinner here. 3 adults and 1 kid, the bill comes hefty. Pictures not included are the drinks (1 latte and 1 honey lemon tea).
The kerabu was abit watery and the taste is not very good. That's why i give it thumb down. However, their famous Jiu Hu Char is nice.
Mum wanted to have assam curry fish but since my daughter couldn't take any spicy food, i ordered another sweet & sour fish for her. The price for fish in the menu is depending on the market price from min RM30 for small dish.
The fish in the sweet & sour tastes good, because the meats are fried beforehand. It is a little bit crispy outside and soft inside. The flour coated on the fish is just nice.
The assam curry fish comes in 4 pieces (minimum order), with lady fingers, tomatoes, onions, bunga kantan and sprinkled with mint leaves. Unfortunately, it is not enough sour or else it will be perfect.

Recommended Dish(es):  Jiu Hoo Char,Sweet & Sour Fish,Springrolls

Spending per head: Approximately RM60(晚餐)

Tomyam Noodles Smile Nov 01, 2013

Aha! For those who is in love with Tomyam noodles, why not try the one at Lai Hoe's?
Originally famous for fish meat bee hoon but they do serve tomyam with bee hoon or Maggie noodles.
I like to have my tomyam Maggie cooked with minced meat and fish meat which is more fulfilling. Mints leaves are placed on top of the soup for extra kick, if you know what I mean.
The soup base itself is quite spicy so for those who can't take spicy food, it is recommended for you to try their plain soup which is equally tasty.
Business is very good, you have got to wait for good food, ya.

If you are a vegan or simply bored with meats or processed food, why not try the healthy food in town? Their daily specialty varies, so, it's recommended to check on their facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/naturesspoon?fref=ts) for more information. I managed to try on their curry noodles which is served on Wednesdays. No yellow noodles are served. You can choose between spaghetti or 'yee mee'. There isn't any coconut added in the soup. For a bowl of curry at RM5.90 is considered fulfilling for a woman like me (see the picture, i finished the soup).
I also managed to try their rojak, fried rice with petai and also Vietnamese springrolls.
What can i say about the rojak? Of course, it is not as 'tasty' as the one we usually eat but for a place like this, it's considered not bad. The fruits are freshly served and the portion is huge too.
Same goes to the vietnamese spring roll, i just simply love it. It is not too filling and yet it's somehow, appetizing. The ingredients inside the spring roll are very freshly prepared too..you have got to try to understand what i meant.
However, the fried rice with petai is not up to my expectation (I had better experience in other place). The portion of the petai is too little for me and the sambal/chillies used to fry the rice is somehow insufficient (no ommpph, i'd say that).
There are plenty of food for me to try here, i am planning to get a taste of their laksa which is served on Mondays. Why don't you try and let us know the outcome?
This place is air conditioned, MSG free and parking is not a problem.
