Purrfect Cat Cafe, the first cat cafe in Penang, is located at Muntri Street and situated next to Camera Museum. Although I'm not a cat person, but it is okay to visit a cat cafe.

Some of the cute cat murals that you can find at the cafe facade. "All are welcome but no doggies allow".

Purrfect Cat Cafe sells cat related merchandizes at the ground floor.

All the things are cat-related, such as tees, keychains, postcards, hats, mugs, bags, pillows, soft toys, etc.

Unique cat-themed wall design and decorations at the ground floor. Full of post-it sticky notes.

On the other hands, the second floor (the upstairs) is divided into two separate zones, the cat zones and the cafe area that is cat-free. You will be briefed on house rules and you have to wash and sanitize your hands before you can take off your shoes and heading on upstairs.

Even the floor carpet is in the shape of cat.

There are around nine simple house rules to follow. Do not break the rules or you will be fined. RM 100.

Foods and drinks are allowed inside the cat zone, but you cannot feed the cats with any sort of foods. Inside the cat zone, you are also free to interact with all the cats, but you cannot carry them around.

At present, they have a total of 8 cats in the cat society: Orange, Marble, Molly, Snowy, Nala, Teddy, Leo and Bear.

Not sure if these are Leo, Marble or Molly?

Okay, this one I can confirm it is Bear with unique dark grey fur.

Teddy. Laying comfortably on the orange foldable chair. Too adorable, too furry and the kimono can only cover half of its body. I can't resist to take many photos of it although it don't really bother me -.-

Orange. Super cute and chubby too.

Snowy, the mascot for the cafe, also the first cat to reside in the cafe. It has a special pair of David Bowie-mismatched eyes.

Oops, this is just a toy cat.

Now let's move to the cat-free cafe area. Full of cat-related decorations. Seats are quite limited with cute cat cushions.

And we were lucky enough to be served to sit at this awesome and comfortable corner.

Purrfect Cat Cafe serves only simple food and drink. Coffee, teas, cold drinks, small selection of pastries and cakes. During our visit, we did not order any food and drink from the menu. We were here to spend our purchased deal from Groupon, a high tea set which includes a slice of cake or one pastry and two glasses of fruit champagne.

Oreo mille crepe (RM 11.90 value). Not an impressive one. Lacks of oreo taste. But a thumb up to the food presentation.

In overall, we still spent a good time in Purrfect Cat Cafe although both the mille crepe and fruit champagne weren't up to the expectation. An exciting experience and this is my first time interacting with so many cats. To play with a cat seems simple at first glance, but in fact it is a bit difficult and I failed to spark their interest to play with me. #sweat

Have a nice day!

Brown Pocket

Rose Caramel Macchiato 3D OK Jul 15, 2014

Coffee Chemistry Signature is not just a coffee cafe, they do serve Asian-Western fusion cuisines.

We kind of like the simple settings of this cafe, it gives a very comfortable atmosphere.

Each table is adorned with a potted flower centerpiece.

Rose caramel macchiato 3D (RM 12.90).
This is one of the popular drink in Coffee Chemistry Signature. Probably due to the adorable 3D art. And so..... I placed an order for this drink and it took awhile for the drink to be served. Doubtlessly the 3D bear foam is pretty darn cute, but this is not my favourite macchiato. This coffee is mouthfeel smooth though, not too sweet, not bitter. But the combination of flavour with notes of rose and caramel just simply do not tickle the taste buds of mine.

Passion fruits smoothies (RM 12.90).
Smooth and thick. Dan's all-time-favourite. Healthy, filling and refreshing. A tangy treat right for any time of the day.

Carbonara beef bacon mushroom pasta (RM 16).
A fabulous carbonara pasta. Creamy and cheesy, with lots of bacon and mushrooms. Thumbs up.

Escalope of chicken with mango chutney (RM20).
Quite a thin piece of chicken escalope and crunchy. People like me who do not fond of the texture of bland chicken breast find this chicken escalope pleasing, especially with the mango chutney (good balance of sweet and sour). An appetizing dish.
An escalope is a piece of boneless meat that has been thinned out (source from Wikepedia)

Gong Cha singnature milk green tea (RM 6.90)
It consists of three layers. Milk froth on top, followed by green tea in the middle and herbal jelly at the bottom.

The recommended ways to drink this tea.
First is to sip the freshly brewed tea through the milk froth without a straw. Second step is to slurp some tea followed by the milk through the straw for a smooth aftertaste. Last is to stir and enjoy a perfect blend of milky froth and aromatic tea.

This is how it looks like after you stir and mix all the layers. The milk froth itself was really good. However, the tea in overall was too milky and hence caused the green tea not so rich in taste. However, this drink in overall still acceptable because the creamy taste of the milk froth is really great.

Spending per head: Approximately RM7

Located at Jalan Trengganu and right opposite to Lye Lye (新来来) hawker centre, Nation's Barbecue which officially opened for business on November 20 with the "smokeless BBQ" condition did caught our attention. Hence, we decided to drop by for a different bbq experience.

For the bbq method, traditional charcoal burner and smokeless charcoal are used. They will prepare everything and start up the fire for you, so you won't get your hands dirty starting up the fire and you don't have to afraid of being burn.

This restaurant offers ala-carte but not buffet-styled barbecue. Barbecue ingredients/ items in the order chit, with prices ranged from RM 3 to RM 15, includes the pork (tenderloin, belly, loin, tongue, heart), beef (short rib, strip loin), chicken (wing, fillet, gizzard, bishop nose, pandan /chicken, loh bak), lamb (shoulder, loin), vegetables (mushroom, enoki, shimeji, eryngii, zucchini, capsicum, yellow onion, corn, brinjal), seafood (prawn, squid, crockle, crab claw) and drink. They serves also some special food items such as bbq pork spare ribs, beef/ pork yakiniku, pork belly rolls with enoki and marinated chicken satay. In addition, there are bbq set for 2 or 4 pax.

The BBQ set for two (RM 45).
This set came with chicken wing x 2 sticks, chicken fillet 50g, belly 100g, loin 100g, pork meatball 50g, mushroom x 2 sticks, enoki x 3 sticks, squid 50g, prawn 50g, onion 50g, capsicum 100g and rice x 2 bowls.

Some of the ingredients were marinated with sauce which is quite good in flavour (slightly salty), with a sprinkle of sesame, pepper and chilli flakes.

The chicken wings were real savoury (thumbs up for their marinate). The enoki is another item which worth a mention, an quick and easy ingredient for bbq and it was very juicy. As for the capsicum and onion, we grilled them until reasonably tender, then we placed the other food ingredients such as chicken fillet on top and grilled. This way can further enhance the foods flavour as well as to help preventing the chicken fillet from badly charred.

Complementary salt pepper, chilli flakes and home-made dipping sauce are given. You can sprinkle some salt pepper/chilli flakes on food which is not marinated to enhance its flavour. As for the home-made dipping sauce, the taste is rather special and quite appetizing, spicy and sour at the same time. It goes very well with all the food items.

Overall, it was really an exciting bbq experience. However, improvement should be made for the indoor ventilation. It was quite stuffy and we felt hot sitting inside. The smokey bbq scent on our body and hair was strong and not pleasing.
