Oeufs Mollets Florentine RM17
2 Soft Boiled Eggs, topped over a bed of spinach & mushrooms, glazed with Gruyere Cheese Sauce, served with a rustic artisan bread
It was such a pretty sight, seeing the eggs burst, yolk flowing out graciously. The eggs were very well done, so well done it could be called an art. I'm sorry but a perfectly done egg makes me go emotional. The whole dish was at a perfect degree of runny-ness, jsut nice for dipping the crusty & crafty artisan bread inside. Creamy, soothing, flavourful, balanced, perfect.

Parmentier de Confit de Canard RM32
Shredded Duck Confit topped with a layer of Mashed Potato Pie, served with a side of Tomato Salad
Basically, this is a French version of shepherd pie. The only difference is duck meat is used instead of the usual beef/chicken. The mashed potato pie was lovely- each bite was filled with a pleasant buttery aroma and the taste is further enhanced by herbs. The taste was so pleasantly sophisticated, like a mystery, it was so captivating- it just keeps me from reaching out my spoon, for another bite, and another. The duck confit base was so moist, so tender, I thought it could instantly melt in my mouth. The taste was so soothing, a little salty, yet sourish, and a had a little twist of flavours which I could yet to identify. To put it simply, it was DELICIOUS. A must-try!

The tomato salad that comes with the duck confit pie.
The salad was tossed in balsamic dressing, creating a pleasantly sourish taste which was really refreshing. The tomatoe cubes were marinated well, each bite was bursting with flavours. I would like to applaud YEAST, on how they could manage to transform a simple dish into such a delicacy.

Oeufs Pochés Benedictine RM22 (salmon)
2 Soft Pouched Eggs on Brioche Toast with Smoked Salmon or Smoked Turkey, Béarnaise Sauce and Greens. The poached eggs were perfect. Egg yolk came oozing out magnificently as we poked it. I really liked the béarnaise sauce used, which is actually a herbed-up version of hollandaise sauce. It was full of flavours, smooth and creamy. The whole dish just comes together so well, so perfect. So beautiful. Magnificent!

Sorry for over-using adjectives here, but honestly, I thought that it was such a great dish it deserves extra credits.

Le Croque Monsieur RM25
Grilled Turkey Ham & Cheese sandwich served with a side of French Fries & Green Salad

The layers of cheese and ham and bread stacked together was so alluring & captivating. Don't you just feel like savouring the whole thing by your own? The bread was slightly charred on the side to give it a crisp and aromatic taste. The cheese filling was generous, yet not too much to prevent it fro being overly cloying. As goat cheese was used, there were a sharp, rustic taste when I devour the sandwich. Scrumptious!

The fries, deserves a mention too. It was deep fried till golden perfection. I don't really know what was the dipping sauce the accompany the fries was, but it tasted a little bit like tar-tar sauce, herbed up version. So fine & divine. Wei Chen couldn't help it but to eat it on its own after we ran out of fries lol.

Yeast is officially my favourite brunch restaurant, replacing Antipodean. =p The food here tasted so sophisticated, it was so alluring. Portion was generous, environment was charming, service was pleasant. (Y).

Potato Soup OK Nov 27, 2013
Categories : French | Café | Sweets/Snack

Last week, I had a mini foodie trip with my college mates to Bangsar. It was 11.30am when we arrived at Bangsar. It had been quite an adventurous morning, with us running around taking the KTM and taxis in fear of wasting time waiting for the bus, & also guiding our lost friend who drove there & so on.

We were famished when we arrived at Bangsar and decided to fight those hunger pangs with a big breakfast/brunch set. Walking along the famous Bangsar Telawi street, we narrowed down our choice into these two reputable two brunch restaurant, ANTIPODEAN and YEAST.

We were mulling over which restaurant to visit. Checking out the menus of both restaurant, asking everyone for their opinions, in the end we choose Yeast as it seems less crowded (hence food will be served faster) as most of us had tried Antipodean so why not give Yeast a try?

Their simple menu printed on brown recycled paper. I love the simplicity of the menu. I don't know why but I was instantly charmed by the designs. Contrary to the cafe's name, the menu is very...un-yeast-ty. LOL. I was expecting to see food items made out of yeast dominating the menu, but instead, the menu was imprinted with lots of words I can't even pronounce LOL. The menu has two different section, breakfast/brunch & lunch menu.

We were at lost. We didn't know what to order with all the French words over the menu so we asked the waiter for some recommendation and ordered what he suggested. LOL.

After we placed our orders, I couldn't help it but to admire pastries beautifully displayed at the counter. The pastries and puffs seems so soft, fluffy, and charming. So French-y like.

I loved the chic, cosy yet charming interior of YEAST. I felt as if I have teleported to France as I sat on the dining table, overlooking the lovely display of pastries. The faux flowers was so alluring, giving the restaurant a romantic & relaxing vibes.

Love the open kitchen concept at Yeast. Curious patrons like me get to witness the chef in action! Pots and pans made out of Copper hanging on the ceiling, matches the black and white tile of the restaurant perfectly, striking a harmony.

Our order swiftly arrived! First to arrived was...

Soup of the Day- Potato and Leek Soup RM14
I find the soup quite tasteless and mediocre. It was overly diluted too :/ The bread given was crusty and tasty though.

Drinks! Smile Nov 26, 2013

Dr Cafe, is a coffee chain shop that has a close similarity with those mainstream coffee places in Malaysia. (Starbucks, Coffee Bean etc.) . Their pricing were on par with them too. You could detect the similarities on their menu too! Dr Cafe serves an array of coffee and also non-caffeine beverages such as freshly squeezed juice! Now that's a stand out point ! Dr Cafe also serve ready-to-go meals/snacks like sandwiches and muffins which you can request to heat it up =)

Cappuccino (Tall) RM 9
Love the soft, velvety body of the coffee. However, I felt like I was drinking a latte instead of a cappuccino as the ratio of milk was slightly higher than expected.

Steamed Ginger (Medium) approx RM10 can't really remember =S
This was boyfriend's order. He said he wanted something healthy as he claimed that he had too much junk earlier. The steamed ginger has a very strong and aromatic ginger taste. It was sweetened by molasses, which I find it tad sweet.

Overall, I'd rate Dr Cafe a decent 6/10. It's a good place to chill, hang out or study with comfy sofas and ample tables and chairs.

Spending per head: Approximately RM10(宵夜)

Coffee & Waffles! Smile Nov 26, 2013

So there's a new coffee shop in Oasis Square!
Coffee Etc.is located at the far end corner lot, next to 7-11, at the same row as Epiphany Coffee.

Their drinks menu. The usual hot coffee drinks and iced coffee drinks, as well as frappes, teas and bottled juice
[IMG:]
The wide range of pastries and waffles served at Coffee Etc.!
Coffee Etc. will be kicking off their breakfast menu real soon! For now these are the few selections of bites available.

Cappuccino RM10.90 and Latte RM10.90
In conjunction with their opening promotion, all F&B are given a 20% discount!
We received two complimentary Belgain Waffles too! =) Thank you Coffee Etc.! =D

Cappuccino
The coffee has a smooth and velvety body. It was quite a decent cup of coffee, but nothing else to shout about. Boyfriend's said he preferred Epiphany's Latte as it has a stronger aroma.

Belgain Waffles!
Now their Belgain Waffles are definitely something to take note of. It was absolutely delicious! The golden crisp skin was coated with a thin layer of honey, creating a subtle sweetness which was just nice. The interior was sot and fluffy! Each bite leave me craving for more! Mouth-watering goodness in a little ice-cream stick =)

Anyways...I have a habit of taking the photos of the environment before we leave so...yeah it was already dark when we were about to leave ++

I love the interior of Coffee ETC. Light shone through the French windows gloriously, creating a bright and lively environment. (when it was bright out there LOL. We stayed there from 4-7pm didn't realize it was so dark already :x). Musics from the 80s were playing in the background from their high quality speaker (Guan Ren claimed that their speakers were really good as we could hear the bass clearly), spreading relaxing vibes throughout the restaurant. The brick red wall and the communal table in the middle reminds me of The Grind Burger Bar at Section 17.That explains why we stayed there so long...the environment was simply too lovely =) A great place to have a simple gathering, or to sit back, read a book and relax

Overall, it was a really nice coffee shop. The staffs were really friendly. They joked around with me when I asked permission to snap some photos, teasing each other to be in the pic lol! Will be back for their lovely waffles!

Affordable Set Lunch Smile Nov 25, 2013

Categories : Western variety | Restaurant | Steaks / Chops | Burgers / Sandwiches | Group/Family dining

Morganfield's set lunch are priced from RM16.90. Each set lunch comes with a bottomless soft drink, and a soup of the day OR house salad =D

Bottomless drinks - Choices of Cola, F&N Citrus, F&N Grape, 100 Plus or Iced Lemon Tea
Morganfield was pretty generous with their bottomless drinks. Before I even finished my cup of Iced Lemon Tea, the waiter offered to refill it. =)

House Salad - Mixed Salad tossed in vinaigrette dressing, topped off with crunchy croutons
I felt that the veggies were not so fresh, as it was a little mushy on the sides.

Soup of the Day- Potato Leek Soup
The soup was slightly diluted, but the soup was still flavourful. Generous chunks of potatoes were found in the soup so it's still acceptable.

Grilled Ranch Chicken
Grilled chicken breast marinated with ranch sauce, served with a side of french fries and coleslaw
Albeit the portion of the chicken was lesser than expected, the chicken was really tender & juicy! The ranch sauce accompanying the chicken, compliments the dish perfectly.
Love the natural cut fries served at Morganfield. It wasn't greasy at all and have traces of potato skins on it.

Beer Battered Fish RM18.90
Deep Fried Beer Battered Fish, served on a bed of fries with mayo dipping sauce, and a side of coleslaw
The portion of this dish was a complete contrast from the grilled ranch chicken. It was GINORMOUS. This was my brother's order and despite him being someone with a large appetite, he shared his fish with me & my mum because...honestly I don't know who can finish the fish on their own.
The fish was deep fried to perfection, crunchy on the outside, soft and flaky in the inside. The batter covering the fish had a sharp alcohol taste. Definitely one of the best Fish & Chips I had tried so far. The dipping sauce accompanying the fish is also worth mentioning. Tangy, with a twist of sweet & sour!

Tequila Spiked Chicken RM18.90
1/4 Chicken marinated in tequila & spicy paprika, char-grilled to perfection. Served with fries & coleslaw
Grilled & marinated to perfection, the chicken was juicy, tender and wholesomely flavourful. The skin, had a slightly charred side, had a hint of aromatic wood fire taste, and a sharp yet fragrant tequila taste which left a memorable impression. The texture of this chicken was slightly drier than its counterpart Grilled Ranch Chicken but I preferred this than the former thanks to its aromatic taste.

Overall Rating: 6.5/10
The service was pleasant, with helpful and attentive waiters that are so eager to help us refill our drinks. Food was decent, but I guess it'd be better if we'd order some pork-y dish here as Morganfield specializes in non-halal food. And price was pretty affordable. Sadly, the sad lunch is only available on weekdays oh well.

Spending per head: Approximately RM17(午餐)
