The Wolf's Favourite  Cry Nov 23, 2013   (Related Review)

The Wolf's Favourite RM29
TLP&TBBW signature dish. Spaghetti tossed in Carbonara sauce, served with bacon, mushroom, and topped with a poached egg. The catchy name and the unique addition of a poached egg definitely caught our attention to order it

I certainly have high hopes for this dish, being TLP&TBBW's forte dish, and also the wolf's favourite (if wolves eat pasta)
We naughtily poked the egg yolk, hoping to witness the beautiful moment where the bright, golden yolk concealed to ooze out

It was a let down. The amount of yolk flowed out was so scarce.
I was really disappointed with this dish. The egg was overcooked as the yolk wasn't runny at all. The egg white was already in its solid state. The bacon was overcooked. It had an unpleasant burnt taste and was too hard. The noodles were cooked el-dente and the carbonara sauce was superb, but I cannot accept overcooked eggs and burnt bacon so this dish is another no-no for me.

Cheesy Pork Lasagne  Smile Nov 23, 2013   (Related Review)

Cheesy Pork Lasagne RM26
The amount of cheese was really generous. The cheese literally covered up the whole dish! Minced pork meat cooked in bolognese sauce & cheese sauce were generously spread out in each layer of lasagna sheet, resulting in a moist, flavourful and wholesome dish. I enjoyed this dish a lot but some of my friends think that it was tad dry. Recommended.

Frankly speaking!  Cry Nov 23, 2013

"I'll HUFF, and PUFF, and BLOW THE WHOLE HOUSE DOWN!"

Can anyone name me the storybook character who said this? Yep, that's right! The Big Bad Wolf from one of the most famous childhood tale, Three Little Pigs & The Big Bad Wolf!

Oh no, this blog post isn't about a kid's story.

It's about this restaurant in Bangsar Village with a catchy name- Three Little Pigs & the Big Bad Wolf!

The entrance to Three Little Pigs & The Big Bad Wolf was a little discreet- inside Village Grocer, near the frozen good area. The sign is quite small so you'll have to keep your eyes peeled! (Or alternatively, you can enter through the car park area where the signboard is more prominent)

In this version of story, I supposed that the three little pigs loss to the Big Bad Wolf as this is a non-halal restaurant. TLP&TBBW specializes in serving pork so be sure to prepare yourself for a pork-y feast while dining in here!

Cute drawings decorated the black board wall, bringing the storybook character to live.

The sleek & contemporary interior. Despite being a weekday, TLP&TTBW was really full so the waiters ushered us to the outdoor dining area. The weather was blistering hot so we requested for a seat inside. The waiters were clearly not pleased about it, as they already placed the menus on our designated table. They told us that if we were to sit inside we have to split into two groups. We were very lucky as when we were getting seated the patrons next to us paid their bill so we get to sit together!

I really loved their menu's concept! The menu was depict as a story book. Red hardcover, with cute illustration all over the menu, my college mates instantly went ga-ga over the menu, whipping out the camera, taking tumblr-ish shot =D

The names of their dish were pretty catchy too, examples are "I'm-so-hungry-I-could-eat-a-wolf!" and "Mighty Pig".

Interested in Chapter 2?
You got to visit this place from 6pm-11pm. Three Little Pigs & The Big Bad Wolf has two menus, the one we were browsing through was the three little pigs menu, which is available from 9am-6pm.

Frank C. Matra & Gang RM36
A platter featuring 4 different kind of sausages, served with a generous side of wedges and dipping sauce. I can't remember the name of the sausages unfortunately as I misplaced the receipt.

The wedges were deep fried into perfection, nice & crunchy, soft and fluffy in the inside. It goes very well with the tangy cheese & mayo dipping sauce which was really addictive.

FRANKLY speaking, the franks (pun indeed) were not really up to par. I felt like as if the franks were too rubbery and hard. The taste was quite normal, nothing to shout about. And it all tasted quite similar. Except for one which has a really strong peppery taste.
Is it worth the price? I don't think so

Traditional English Tea  Smile Nov 06, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Western variety | Hotel Dining | Buffet | Sweets/Snack

A while ago when I was performing my daily routine of browsing livingsocial and groupon for irresistible deals, I stumbled upon a deal at living social on Traditional English Afternoon Tea at Piano Lounge, Grand Dorsett Subang Jaya for only RM30 for 2 pax. Grand Dorsett is a five star hotel, and it is located quite near from where I live. My heart was itching. I've always wanted to experience a full English Tea. Mum's birthday was around the corner. LIGHT BULB MOMENT. I purchased the deal for my mum as her birthday present =P

The ambient there was tranquil, calm and peaceful. I immediately felt so relaxed once I step into Piano Lounge. The red carpeted floor, paired up with the black coffee table and yellowish gold sofa chair give the place a sleek, contemporary feel.

Their ceiling, decorated with round glasses that resembles Chinese lanterns

The bar, where all the drinks were prepared. The sound and aroma of the coffee machine grinding coffee bean was soothing to the ears and nose

For the drinks, we were given a choice between English Tea or Freshly Brewed Coffee
Being a coffee lover it was my automated response to opt for coffee
The coffee has a strong and aromatic body. Loved it =)

It took quite a while for our three tier tea time delight to deliver to us. Not a bad thing, as the ambient was really soothing and relaxing =) more family bonding and interaction time

Scones with jam and cream and Sardine Puffs
The Sardine Puffs feel very out of place. It was too Malaysian to me. I was hoping for a full English tea but the sardine puffs really tasted like curry puffs LOL. But nevertheless, the crust was rich in butter aroma, crusty and crispy. Delicious but I prefer if it was replaced with some other pastry which is more English =P

The scones were aromatic, fragrant and has a loose texture. I've tasted better ones at Cameron Highlands but the scones served at Piano Lounge was definitely one of the best scones I've ever tasted! And I think this is the best scone I have ever eaten..in Subang Jaya =p It's so hard to find a decent scone in Klang Valley :X
However I find the cream a little tasteless. It felt like it was homemade but it didn't really suit my liking.

Fruit Tartlets, Chocolate Brownies and Raspberry Financiers
After reading the menu Grand Dorsett posted on Livingsocial, I realize it wasn't supposed to be chocolate brownies but OPERA CAKE. But the chocolate brownies were REALLY GOOD so I didn't mind heh. Rich in chocolate flavour, the chocolate brownie was moist and soft. It immediately melted in my mouth as a took a bite! Wonder why they gave us THREE of it not FOUR. Probably trying to make us fight? LOL

The fruit tartlet was filled with chocolate and cream cheese, and topped with a strawberry glazed with corn syrup. The crust , rich in butter aroma, flaky, PASS. The content, chocolate+cream cheese, texture was smooth and creamy, tasted not too sweet, paired up with the sweetened strawberry perfectly. PASS! Of all the pastry we tried, I personally preferred this the most. Yummy!

Financiers dusted with icing sugar and topped with raspberry
I find this too dry, and the raspberry was really sour. I didn't like it.

Salmon Finger Sandwich and Egg Finger Sandwich
Two piece of de-crusted white bread slathered with butter and mayo, sandwiching two slices of fresh salmon, cucumber and tomatoes.
Finger sandwich was pretty normal. Brother claimed that he can DIY at home too LOL.
They used wholemeal bread for the egg sandwich which I found a tad dry

Mushroom Bread Bowl Smile Nov 06, 2013

Komugi Cafe, a bakery cum cafe that has just opened in Subang Parade.
Komugi cafe has a small sitting area located at the far end of the bakery, and also an outside sitting area for smokers.

I loved Komugi's pastry. I often buy em for breakfast whenever I go shopping at Sunway Pyramid/Mid Valley. Since the Subang Parade's branch is a cafe, they also serve hot meals such as pizza and soup. We decided to skip the pastry and go for their soup instead lol

Mushroom Bread Bowl RM9.90
My byfriend and I were pleased with the presentation and happily dig in to the soup. However, the soup was not hot at all. In fact it was no where near warm! We sent the soup back and requested it to be warmed up.

*****

Sure enough, we received a new soup bowl. Steam were seen pipping out of the soup. After making sure that everything is alright, we dig in again!

The soup was thick, chunky, and flavourful. Each mouth full was filled with the wholesomeness of fresh mushroom. I enjoyed it really much. The bread bowl was crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside. It possessed the qualities of a good baguette. The bread soaked up the warm soup, softening it, making each bite so tender and flavourful.

The only complain I had was the mess we made ^^" The waiter did not provided us with knife, and I couldn't find any knife at their counter so we ended up painstakingly slicing up the bread bowl using our fork and spoon. And yeah...you could imagine how barbaric we were LOL. But the main point is I enjoyed it very much lol
