Talking about steamboat & bbq. When I show this to my Malay colleagues, they reply by asking "wow , where is this? I would like to go."

"TOo bad, it's not a halal restaurant"

But now...This restaurant, Pak John Steamboat & BBQ in e@curve serving halal meal with high quality meat that everyone can drop by!

So yea, this is a place where you can playing mix and match, try and test over different food! BUT YET, it's not the main highlight. The introduction above would be enough to justify the goodness of this steamboat and BBQ restaurant.

As you can see here, it's steamboat and grilling kind of buffet type eating. Their smoked duck slice is really so yummy over the grill! and so do their abalone. Try to grill the abalone too. it brings out fresh sweetness in those abalone.

Teriyaki chicken is not bad either. Here in Pak John , you will be spoilt with VARIETY Of food choices. Trust me, many didn't try all the food here. Some were too good you will keep on noming on the same one. There's another table next to me. Taking dim sum for photos and they couldn't finish them too! SO do their different soup base.

FIVE (5)Steamboat soup base
Tom Yam
Curry
Clear chicken soup
Miso soup
Prawn soup

We tried the Tom Yam soup base, it's their in-house blend and we all love it! The taste is rich enough, not so sour or sweet, a bit of briny. I would say the Tom yam has been widely localised to suit the Malaysian taste bud.

We tried only the Tom yam base, which is highly recommended, and as much as there were still 4 other flavours of soup base. I actually ddidn't feel regret not trying other bases because it's really so delicious!

Mingle with Erosi, Dash and Daphne! They did quite a lot of thing. Get everything all the meat slides, all I did was just to sit down and eat only.

and of course steamboat is best to makan-makan together with you friends (with my blogger gang here anyway )! A table full of great fare!

They serve variety kind of meat slices

Abalone slices
Smoked duck slices
New Zealand Lamb Slices
Aussie Beef Slices

You have to collect those slices from the kitchen as they freeze those slices to make sure it serve fresh. There were other seafood available too.

mussels, bamboo clam, clam, prawn,

All sorts of vege. So fret not vegetarian. If you friend insist to having dinner here. You can still have delicious jagung (corn) here

pumpkin, egg, and many many different types of mushroom! (mushroom my favourite!)

I was taking Tilapia fillet in the photo.

See, to ensure the freshness. They displays their food in display fridge.

Prawn sold out fast, but replenish fast too.

After having the sizzling and hot delicacies. Let's move on to other food served here.

There is a straight line of buffet spread serving all the carbohydrate-load food like fried rice, mihun, pasta and other traditional ala malay food like chicken too. Among of all them, I tried their carbonara! Really really creamy, and yummy! except that it was cold. I had 3 bowls of carbonara even busy makan the steamboat and BBQ too!

Eat, grill eat grill and repeat!

Yeap, a place just beside the Dim SUm collection to further spice up your tongue with a lot of different condiments!

Grilled abalone is delicious! OH yea, and their have cheesy tau fu too!

If you want something plain. Here you go. Bubur Ayam (CHicken porridge) with sides

Taking photo with Daphne while waiting for the waffle.

Kaya balls weren't available while we were there. But waffle is made-to-order. LOve love it so much! Choose your favourite jam to pair with and the assistant will there to make it for you!

and cut it for you! See, my fresh out waffle. Crunchy

And waffle is really delicious when you mix with ice-cream!!

Topped with a scoop of ice-cream and sprinkled with some chocolate rice. Taste like heaven!

So that explains the wide grin on my face!

A photo with Syamin before she left.

Beverage selection at your will.

But would recommend you to take their dessert like Cendol , ABC for thirst quencher.

Healthy selection of Fruits and Jelly. Again, I didnt touch them at all. Too much delicious to savour ady.

Attached here the latest price list for your reference.
(The information above is true as in 30th July 2017)

Summary - What's good about Pak John Steamboat & BBQ ?

1.Super vast selection of food from fresh premium meats , seafood frozen food, soup base, greens, condiments, desserts (kaya ball, waffle, cendol, ABC), carbohydrates buffet,

2. With the price of RM 42.90 for the delicious food, it definitely worth your every penny, and parking fare. =p

3. Suitable for any occasion of group gathering, celeration as they have their seperate VIP room too.

4. You won't come here because only of the wide selection, but the meat slides is really of the premium and fresh.

5. This is what we call gathering over the food lor. Eat and talk and walk (to get food when you feel guilty) and repeat and taking photos before leaving.

6. Customise your waffles creatively.

7. Customise your food with any condiments here!

Rating: 8.5/ 10
Nothing much to complain, attentive customer service. Except that the buffer spread does not remain heat. Then my carbonara is eaten cold. But above all, this is one of the halal unlimited eat-all-you-can steamboat fare.

WIll definitely come again, bring my family for the waffle, for the carbonara, smoked duck and tom yaum soup base!

Tips
1. Bring a change of clothes if you plan to go somewhere after that.

2. As much as their dessert is not the most expensive food there, it is not bad too. Sweet tooth, remember to save up some stomach space for their waffles! Decorate it yourself and nom your own crafted waffles!

3. Would recommend to choose the RM 42.90 package. The different between the Lunch and Dinner is the absence of Premium meat slices , Dim Sum and Buffet Spread for the lunch.

4. Dessert is not in the pic, but they serve ABC, cendol too. And trust me, you won't be able to finish all of them.

5. Request to replace a new grill top if you want.

6. Whether it is crowded or not, it depends on the time you visit. I came here on Saturday 12pm. and it's still fine.

Date visited: 31st August 2015 @One Utama Shopping Mall

It was a date of my bf and me.

Went to Pasta Zanmai because boy friend favour the food there.

So my first and second time visit Pasta Zanmai was with WS!! Believe it or not? The Chicken Teriyaki rice & The short neck Clam pasta soup come with a package, and it cost only Rm 29!! I was thrilled to see the huge portion on the chicken teriyaki rice!!

A huge plate full with delectable chicken teriyaki, it's so juicy, succulent, moist and sweet with the Teriyaki sauce!

Despite the name mini Short neck clam pasta soup, the portion is not mini at all! 4 clams ler~~ and top on with 2 different type of mushroom!

When the food is served, I thought the waiter serve the wrong table, never thought it would be full size like this.

I guess this is the speciality of Pasta Zanmai

Heartily full & Huge portion

Fresh ingredients

Extra added (mushroom!! my favourite mushroom! )

Which is also the reason of him, who save money all the time, would like to dine in Pasta Zanmai once in awhile. (and I glad that he always choose the occasion I was there! )

Yes, this package is exist in the menu. I forgotten to take the pic of the menu. But somehow it's located at the page, after pasta and all the main food. and come various combo food. YOu will understand after you flip through the menu.

Got one expression that my face twitched because the tasco sauce is unexpectedly spicy~~ Not really spicy~~ but I put too much tasco.

I expect nothing from their chicken terikayi. Chicken seem so common everywhere. So even their most common dish was delicious too! Decided to take a look on the terikayi sauce, taste sweet.. yum yum~~~

And the great thing about dine in One Utama is that you get to buy some real authentic Japanese imported snacks. food at their Japanese outlet here in One Utama!

VERDICT

Overall, the service here is not as friendly as Paradigm Mall. Both my bf and me would agree that we would prefer to go Pasta Zanmai in Paradigm Mall because their service is more friendly, and more welcomed. Anyway, we undestood the reason of them being less friendly. The crowd in One Utama never stop flowing in. But the service crew were quite attentive.

Just that I don't like to see that their beverage bar was stacked full with drank cups..

But the arrangement of the seat...One Utama is more spacious!

That Comma Cafe Setia Alam Smile Dec 04, 2015
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Western variety | Café | Desserts

That Comma Cafe is one of the cafe located in Setia Alam, Shah Alam. It served really delicious western cuisine such as pizza (I tried Hawaian Chicken and Comma Canadian, both are real awesome! ), big breakfast, hot platter that has variety of pork mixing with some sweet potato and salad.

Comma cafe set up by a trio of the same enthusiasm . They were designers and using their own magic, turning Comma Cafe into a place where you love to hang out! Despite the fact it is located at First Floor, the ambience in the cafe is colourful and warm in a minimalist way. Don't get what I mean?

Picture talk will do =D

I esp like this photo. See what I mean colourful and warm in minimalist way~~

The cozy ambience inside.

Even for seat, there were 3 types of different seats that you can choose. This one of them. England vintage style cushion~~ like it!

On the other notes, thank you boy friend to be my driver! And thanks for accompany me throughout the food review! It means a lot to me!Another type of seat, by the window~~

That is decorate with several cute plush toys and cushion~~ You were so tempt to take some nice photos! One of my favourite photo too!

There is never ending of design when you really have enthusiasm on it!

Alright, here come the first beverage, Mint Latte

A mix of refreshing and coffee. If you have try various type of coffee, you might have try this too!

4 season drink

Literally from Left to Right is Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter.

Gemmint Rm 11

Sparkling Mint Rm 11

Lemon Glade Rm 11

Tropicana Banana Rm 13

I like the salt & sugar at the brink of the glass. The way it resemble magarita give extra twist to the Gemmint! Of all the flavour drink, I like Tropicana Banana the most, it is coconuty tropical and fulfilling at the same time. Would recommend you to order something citrus so that you will have some place for their parfait, which you wouldn't want to miss!

That yum yum cheesy pizza~~~

Savory Pizza 9"

Hawaiian Chicken Rm 18.50

Comma Canadian Rm 15.90 (with olive ring)

Comma Canadian Rm 15.90

The formula is simple (Pork Bacon, Fresh olive ring, and generous amount of Austrialian cheese) . The crust is neither too thin and it's crunchy! A pizza and cheese lover should really try this. Cause you will back with happy belly~~

Thin crust

Hawaiian Chicken Rm 18.50

Hawaiian chicken has it all. Pineapple cubes, succulent chicken slide, savory tomato puree. The munchy of Hawaiian Chicken is a mix of crunchy and juicy, thanks to the pineapple and chicken slides. Yummy!

When they baked to the perfection and serve it hot, the first thing that you want to do is just to grab one piece of it, pull it out to watch how those cheesy pull apart, and have it warm in your tummy. This is when you know the next time you come Comma Cafe, you will have this in your order. Everything is just perfect, neither too salty, or slumpy but the perfect!

Grilled Chicken with Tomato Puree Rice Rm 19.50

I kind of regret that I keep taking photo until the cheesy is coolen. Make sure that you mix the Tomato Puree Rice with the cheesy before eating. I tasted the mild tomato puree rice and the chicken seperately. And it seems normal.

Carbonara with Pork Bacon, Sauteed Mushroom & Herbs Rm 16.50

The carbonara here is neither too creamy or dilute. The boss here always listen to the feedback from customer, and this is why I guess. It just nice. I mean it might be dilute for ang moh. But this is the type of carbonara sauce that I like. Homeade sauce topped with bacon and slided button mushroom. Best it when hot.

Pork Bacon Aglio Olio Rm 16.50

The Aglio Olio is less spicy to my taste bud. But fret not, you can request to have more spicy in the dish, because they would accustom the dishes to customer's spicy tolerance level. On the other side, it would means that this would be prefect for those who don't eat spicy too! Instead, this Aglio Olio was garnished with ginger powder to enhance the overall taste.

Signature Breakfast Rm 27.50

I feel like one of the speciality here is about the pork. Because I learnt that some of the regular customers here like to have pork. They even suggest Bak Kut Teh flavour for Pizza. Yea~~ this is where they came out with creative dishes from customer feedback!

Pork bacon, Pork ham, 12 inches Pork Sausage from Taiwan. This signature Breakfast served all day and is enough for 2 people.

Hot Platter

Pork knuckle in German style, Smoked pork ribs, Pork meat ball, and the 12 inches long Pork sausage appeared as salty dishes. The garlic bread, Caramelise sweet potato , Mash potato and some blanching long beans, carrots and potato wedges and Fried Onion Ring. The meatball here is something to try.The rib has been marinated with special homemade sauce before grilled.

And the combination of salty and sweet here make everything standout! This is a must try in Comma Cafe!

我们这群吃货~~~

Even the BBQ sauce is tasty! Perfect consistency, and flavourful in taste.

If Pork lover come here for the Hot Platter, the meatball and the pizza, then dessert lover would be here for their parfait.

Coffee Parfait Rm 13.90

A look at it might not give a second thought to order it. It turned out to be a surprise and among the dessert, I like this the most. The layering of different ingredients create the multiple level of textures on it. Vanilla ice-cream, coffee, Oreo biscuit crust turning this coffee parfait into a special twist!

I am not a coffee lover, but somehow the sweetness in the vanilla ice-cream balanced out the bitter in coffee. As you savour it, you get to try all the sweet, combination, and bitter in this coffee parfait and the next thing that you realise is that you already empty the glass.

Strawberry Parfait Rm 16.90

The strawberry is not less delicious compare to the coffee parfait. But somehow the bitter in coffee giving me the unexpected surprise, that win my heart and tummy, haha. This strawberry parfait make it's presentation in a real big juicy strawberry, with sweet vanilla ice-cream and Oreo biscuit.

There were still 2 other flavours of parfait which is Apple Crumble and Green Tea. Both sounds appealing to me. Will try both of them during my next visit!

You might want to order the most popular choice of parfait, but each of this parfait has their own supporters that shouldn't be compare also. It can be conclude in people who love strawberry would chooce strawberry, people who adore coffee would go for coffee parfait , same goes to Green Tea and Apple Crumble.

Signature Brownies Rm 19.90

Now, present you the Brownie! Doesn't look like Brownie? Yeah~~ there is a trick on how to it eat. Watch this video then you will understand.

Signature brownie 2.0 from #thatcommacafe , it's quite torturing to watch this video when you are hungry ... omg, I miss the super packed-with-chocolate flavour!! P/s: my boyfriend act as the hand model. #setiaalam #hungry #chocolate #brownies #chocolatelover

A video posted by @maple2772 on Nov 8, 2015 at 9:11am PST

Tadaa~~~ This is when you get to solve over the magic and savour it! The trick is do is as soon as it's served. The chocolate here is quite overwhelming. People who like it will like it.

Banana Crepe?

This hasn't on the menu yet, nor it has it's officially name during our food review. Could someone inform me if you know the dish's name? Created with banana, shredded coconut flakes and kaya.Simple and fulfilling dessert but it is so delicious! Would be a prefect choice for Yum Cha-ing~~

Last but not least, thanks to Mr Leong for the invitation! It's my first time having to handle a food review, and I am glad that it was in a nice cafe! Thanks to the boss for actually serving us so many dishes, because most of them are so so delicious!

Recommended:

Hawaiian Chicken Pizza

Comma Canadian Pizza

Hot Platter (esp when you like to eat pork)

Coffee Parfait (I don't drink coffee, but I love this)

If you visit this cafe few months later, you may or may not see the same food again. Because Comma cafe update and change their menu every 3 to 6 months depend on the popularity of the foods. But their meatball in the hot platter is something to try. Which I believe they will reserve that cause it's too delicious!

I also feel like the food that you see here is so different from any other cafe, because they take times to think, create and re-create a new choice of foods, and absord customers' feedback at the end of day. This is what makes their food so delicious.

Last but not least, I hope you enjoy reading this post as much as I enjoy eating the food here! =D

Pork Varieties in Old School Smile Oct 12, 2015
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Café | Pizza/Pasta | Steaks / Chops | Burgers / Sandwiches

Old School serving Pork Varieties here. Not only that the setting of the ambience is Old School, that evoked the nostalgia of Malaysian. Here, I like to describe this restaurant in childhood Nostalgic tone......

School bell rang , and Class started. Omg I better sneak in quitely, before teacher saw me, else I would be punished for the late coming.

My school is Old School, located in The School, Jaya One. I like to come here, because it has air cond. So far it's the only school in Malaysia that serving delicious Pork dishes.(no offence to my muslim friends, but I appreciate the diversity of culture here in Malaysia) Not one dish, or 2 dishes, but basically everything here has pork.

When I was young, this was I got to school every day #truestory. Usually, I am not the girl who is ready in the queue, but the one running behind, except that I was in pony tail.

These are my classmate, we came here together and eating together. There are Jessie (from left), Pooi Yee and Jack.

Oh yea, because I scored 10/10 in spelling, so I was rewarded these 90's snacks by teacher. Thank you teacher. I will study harder (but not guarantee will came punctually, oops)This is the exercise book of my senior. It look like this. It is really hand written by students. After the senior graduate, his book was used as the menu in Old School. OUr Old School established in 2012, with the philosophy Pork, We are the Best I am glad that I no need to clad in uniform, although those uniform were quite pretty to put on. For those who study here everyday. There were clad in this Scotland grid style of uniform, so adorable!

(There are waiters here =D )

Also, Old School is not only the classromm that has air-cond, but it served e porky foods! Yum yum. Let's see what you can found here.

Old School Nasi Lemak RM 29.90

I tell you, this pork rendang is so tender & flavourful, you will never expect the pork rendang could be so succulent. This is because they use only specific part of the pork to make rendang.

If you feel like the assortment of every type of pork is to fulfilling. You can opt for with only one type of pork dishes. For me, I would definitely go for Nasi Lemak with Pork Rendang that is Rm 14.90. You may click to enlarge the pic below to see clearly about the other type of nasi lemak that served here. click to enlarge the pic below to see clearly about the other type of nasi lemak that served here.

Next, we have Assorted Hungarian Mangalica Pork Sausages (3pcs)

Mangalica Pork is a species of pork origin in Hungarian, and it's hairy.

The 3 pieces of the sausages here are in garlic, original and spicy flavours.

Assorted Hungarian Mangalica Pork Sausages (3pcs) RM 29

here in Old School, they encourge patrons to eat it without any sauce, to taste the freshness or the meat, the taste the distinct flavour in each of the sausage, same goes to some other dishes.

Oh yea, and they served Char Siew Curry Laksa here in Old School like every school canteen has curry mee too. Serving with yardlong bean, toufu and bbq pork , tongue . The curry mee might not be spicy enough, hence sambal was there.

Char Siew Curry Laksa RM 12.90

On left: Cucumber , Celery, Lemon Juice RM 7.80

On right: Bitterground with Pineapple RM 6.80

Because it's haze outside, and so you can choose some detox drink here. Not only the combination here is so super pack with vitamins. It taste nice too. Come come, quench your thrist here after some porky dishes.

Old School Pork Burger RM 18.90

Because we the students like to have burger! and the fried wedges. So here is the burger palate! Having ham, patty and bacon together is wholesome. It's not that it's to thick you can feed all into your mouth, you can!

Pork Bolognaise Spaghetti RM 13.90

Spagetti in Malaysian way, taste like nasi lemak.

Old School Pork Cutlet RM 24.90

Despite it look so ordinary, it is a bit salty that suit my liking.

BBQ Pork Rib RM 34.90

Judging from the appearance,(& my last experience), I expect it to be hard to bitten., but it's succulent and moist. The BBQ sauce seem like do not only remain on the surface. but it goes into the meat. And well, flavoursome!

Before any of of the pork steak, cutlet here. the palate has been balanced by the simple salad that has cherry tomato. And if you wandering , why there is no any seasoning for the sauce, it has been seasoning with pineapple dressing.

Old School Pork Salad with House Pineapple Dressing RM 15.90

With Pork Lard on top, and pineapple fruit. I feel that my dad would love this salad more. for he is someone who do not like to eat western. But this seem so chinese-western fusion.

Banana Split RM 11.90

Old School Affogato RM 9.90

The coffee used here is the local coffee that is super thick. The Vanilla ice-cream toppped with Orea crumble.

By mixing everything together, this seem like a heaven for coffee lover. It's flavoursome coffee ice-cream!

Old School is designed as it is so spacious, and 90's school theme decorated. Guess you would find this familar to you. A 90's school canteen. With my familar snacks and toys in small boxed that I used to addicted during my childhood. Hehe.

Old School also provide a service for party and events . As a school theme restaurant, I find everything decoration here is so impressive. Beyond colourful, coz I like all paintings here.

**Back to the childhood nostalgic tone This is how my classroom look like. See, my friends painting were selected by teacher, and put to display.

Chocolate Milkshake

Noming my favourite chocolate milkshake while waiting for the school bus to go home. Since it's too big for one. We shared with our classmates.

This is my portion, it's so petite hence adorable! Must finish this, because I don't get to drink something cold when I'm home. (sucking...the straw enjoyably)...School bus arrived, I gotta go home. Bye~~~

Filipino Fusion in Pancake House Smile Oct 05, 2015
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Western variety | Restaurant | Pizza/Pasta | Sweets/Snack

Be surprise to see wide array of Wstern and FIlipino fusion cuisine here in Pancake House. Yea, despite the name pancake house, you can still expect something more than Pancake!

House Burger RM 21.05

THis burger gotta be my utmost favourite from Pancake house. It is simply tasty, flavoursome that I eaten it for 1 quarter. (That is a lot gosh~~~ )

I actually do not like to eat beef. However beef nowadays seem a lot tender than the original beef (like beef steak). The homemade beef patty is tender, succulent, and savoury, sandwiched together with the salty cheddar cheese. This is so western way of eating them. But Tasty!!! It could compete with a lot of burger shop.

I cant have enough of them. The side view of them.

Smoked Golden Tinapa RM 26.60

Tinapa is a Filipino term that refers to fish cooked or preserved through the process of smoking. It is a native delicacy in the Philippines. (Source from Wikepedia). The fish used to smoked here is milk fish. According to manager, milkfish is known to have more bone than other food fish. Hence it is common to find deboned milkfish/bangus in Filipino. Likewise, the milkfish used in Pancake house here, was imported from established supplier, and has been deboned to ease the eating experience of the patrons.

Daing Na Bangus RM 26.60

Daing Na Bangus simple means marinated milkfish in vinegar, garlic and peppercorns. If Golden Smoked Tanapa taste smoking briny, then it migh appear to be less salty but more to sour. Also note that both the bangus dishes served with transparent gravy with garlic inside. You must tried the gravy!! It is a bit sour, but flavoursome in some level.

Perhaps most Malaysians are accustom to the salty dishes. All of us on the table like the Smoked Tinapa when compare with Daing Na Bangus, that has undergo Filipino curing.

Classic Pan Chicken

2 psc chicken RM 16.60

3 psc chicken RM 17.70

Deep fried pan chicken served with homemade gravy and the aromatic garlic rice. Although the chicken itself has it own taste already, but for those who prefer to have a heavy savour, yes, dip your chicken with the homemade gravy, not sure if Filipino is like that or not.

Beef Tapa RM 21.05

Best Taco in Town Rm 15.45

Something mexican in Pancake house! The crispy taco contained chicken chunks, lettuce , tomato , onion and cheese, seasoned with a sour secret sauce and Tuna Macaroni Salad as side dish.

Asparagus Cayenne Soup RM 6.55

Milky and cream asparagus soup with a dash of mild spicy cayenne powder on top. It's fulfilling and satisfying. As it's quite fulfilling, we didnt manage to finish the soup, as we still have a lot more dishes to go.

For those who wonder how it taste like, imagine that it has thick texture like mushroom soup, but taste asparagus instead of wild mushroom.

Club Sandwiches RM 19.90

Frankly, I feel like every single dish in Pancake house is so exclusive. This include the Club Sandwiches that found everywhere else. I have eaten some other club sandwish in other restaurant. But the ingredients in this sandwishes is so much extra, and the toasted bread. Another choice of comfort food!

Next, it's dessert time! Of course Pancake House cannot be without pancake.

Lemon Pancake Peak RM 17.70

I like this soooo much!!! Several layer of lemon pancake stacked together by secret lemon creamy, and enchance the eating experience. To some extend, it taste like Lemon Cheese Cake! Only in Pancake house =D

For BLueberry lover. The best way to savour this Blueberry Pancake is to eat the blueberry jam, pancake and the vanilla ice-cream together.

Waffle Foldover RM 14.35

Pancake house Also serving double guilty vanicall ice-cream the their crispy pancake , suitable for sweet tooht family that cant have enough of dessert. Eating the pancake quickly after it served would ensure the crispiness of the pancake.
