Average Good Dim Sum Smile Aug 28, 2013

There are several things I like about Foo Hing, a broad selection of food with most of them are average good, fast service, clean environment and not too crowded and stuffy setting. If you prefer an air-conditioned restaurant, this might not appear to be your choice when you see it, but believe me, the restaurant has good ventilation and air coolers that you won't feel hot at all. So why not give it a chance?

Typically in a dim sum restaurant, you would order prawn dumpling, "Siew Mai" and Chee Cheung Fun aka steam rice noodles with either prawn or BBQ pork, but in Foo Hing, I would recommend you their dumpling with Bamboo pith, braised phoenix claws aka chicken feet, fried bacon roll, yam croquette and Portuguese tart.

I personally don't like Malaysia's "Siew Mai" as it is made of pork. I prefer fish-based Dim Sum for its freshness, texture and taste. Prawn dumpling was good, the wrap is thin and prawn is fresh and crispy. The bamboo pith dumpling is also another must try item, it is served with a little bit of soup in a saucer. The crispy steamed bamboo pith absorbs the soup so it tastes really good. The braised Phoenix claws is tender and flavourful, always one of my favourites. The yam croquette is an item not to be missed as well. The crispy fried yam on the outside is fairly thin so you will find the proportion of yam and pork filling is equally nice when it is eaten. My mom likes it, too.

Here is a picture of the braised Phoenix claws, prawn dumpling, steamed rice flat noodles and stemed fish paste that I have ordered during one of the many visits.

Egg tart is ok, but I prefer large egg tart so that I can savour the aroma and taste of the egg.
