Hokkien & Lor Mee @ Paya Terubong Smile Aug 18, 2013

This is a famous hokkien mee stall at Paya Terubong. First timers might have some difficulties looking for it as it is by the road side & probably blocked by cars & bushes. I took the Hokkien + Lor Mee with eggs. The chili paste is placed on the table for you to add yourself. i like it this way as I do not take chili so it has always been a hassle for me to take a new spoon. The soup was fantastic, just a little bit of spiciness & full of flavour. Ended up finishing every last bit of the soup. lol

Thai Cuisine @ Cherry Blossom Smile Aug 18, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Thai | Restaurant | Seafood | Noodles

Heard a lot about the nice Thai food at Cherry Blossom & finally got a chance to try it. There were a few dishes that was completely new to me & it was good...

Appetizer was this leaves wrap thing with choices of peanuts, onions, ginger, chili, dried shrimp & a few others which I forgot. I have no idea what it is called but it was very good. Fold the leaf into cone shaped, fill it with the 'ingredients' & put some sauce in it. Yummy!
Next up was kerabu, I do not take it so can't comment on the taste.

Then we had vegetables, curry chicken, pandan chicken & otak-otak. The curry chicken was nice but nothing special about it, so was the vegetable. However I like the otak-otak, it's one of my favourite dishes. The pandan chicken tasted good but i think it was over-cooked as the outer layer of the chicken was mostly burnt.

The most special dish was the crab shell with fillings inside. Sorry, I had no idea what was inside but the fillings were fried till it holds together and not oozing out of the shell. Definitely something to try, simply amazing.

Hotplate Yee Mee OK Aug 11, 2013

Always having a hard time deciding what to eat at this food court. Finally decided to try the Hotplate Yee Mee (for the first time). I was there early, around 6pm, therefore not many customers yet so the food arrived pretty fast.

I ordered the one with egg. Together with the yee mee are chicken slices, vegetables, fish balls & crab sticks. Mostly are chickens slices, the other portions are so so only. Taste ok only, nothing to shout about but I wish they were more generous with the gravy.

Row-Six (Nanyang Cuisine) OK Aug 09, 2013

My gf finally got a chance to go to this restaurant when I visited her over the weekend, she passed by it a few times but always did not get a chance to try it. The environment & setting is quite nice & cozy. Looking through the menu, couldn't really decide on what to eat, quite a few choices here. Saw Pad Thai on the menu and it reminded me on our recent trip to Bangkok where i sampled a delicious Pad Thai. Well, I'm going to try this & hopefully it's as good as what I had in Bangkok. For drinks, I ordered a Pineapple Ginger Juice.

The Pad Thai smelled good & was not too dry or wet. However it was very spicy! I don't remember it being that spicy when I had it in Bangkok. Anyway, I think it will taste nice if you can take spicy food but I was half dying here. It didn't help that my drink was a bit 'spicy' as well due to the ginger in it. Again, didn't really enjoy this drink partly due to my burning tongue and also the ginger taste overwhelmed the pineapple taste.

I will come back and try other foods and make sure they are not spicy... haha...

Winter Melon Tea with Pearls Smile Aug 04, 2013

Categories : Taiwanese | Café | Juices / Bubble Tea / Tea / Yogurt | Desserts

My favourite dessert place. It was after my Subway dinner & I drove over to BlackBall and ordered a drink only, Winter Melon Tea with Pearls. I asked for less ice as well because having the normal amount is just too cold and it hinders my pearl 'sucking'. I love the winter melon tea as it's very refreshing and I'm not really fond of the milk tea sort of drinks. Other than pearls, we can choose to have it with grass jelly, sky pearl, jade pearl, lemon, tea or just the drink by itself.
